3:34 pm
the problem for him is that it is not in his gift to ask or to get an election. it is for the party that has the majority in parliament. so rishi sunak interestingly, apparently, well, behind closed doors in his very first words to the party on learning he was indeed the sole candidate that had got that hundred threshold can't lee. got 185 fellow tory mps to back him in the process in what is an incredibly fast track process. and yes our third prime minister extraordinarily in under four months. that he would not be calling a general election. the reason the opposition, including the national party and as i measured the labour party -- as i mentioned the labour party, we are in a parliamentary democracy so no election needs to be called until 2024 or 2025.

since the 2019 victory by then prime minister boris johnson, is that in the polls, it is very clear that the conservatives are in deep trouble. where elections to be called they would be reduced to very, very few. and because the labour party has got a 13 point lead, there will be pressure, many pressures. economic pressures. saying that this country, the u.k. faces a big economic challenge. and he is going to inherit all the same economic, financial -- international strikes, personal strikes and the challenges of a post-pandemic economy, like france, like other countries. so he will have many challenges but he is trying to unify his party and he got more than have of them to vote for him and trust him. how long the honeymoon will last, of course, we cannot tell right now. marc: hearing completely what you are saying there. rishi sunak foresaw the
