3:24 pm
this debate will help the other candidates but we know for donald trump, he doesn't have to convince voters of who he is or what he stands for. he is clearly only seeing disadvantages in joining and that is why we are not going to see him tonight or in any other debates. >> how will the absence impact interest in the debate? >>'s absence is clearly the elephant in the room. one really does have the sense that one will be watching people vying for second-place interested to see how they will do with his absence but it is worth noting that this debate is still a big deal for many voters, this does mark the start of the election season. so far for the other candidates, this is the biggest stage they have so far to convince voters of who they are and why they
3:25 pm
deserve the nomination and for voters not completely sold on donald trump, this is an opportunity to hear what the candidates have to say about the issues they care about like inflation, like immigration like beating joe biden. which incidentally is the order of the priorities they did lay in polling. >> was such a massive lead that mr. trump has, do you think there are any candidates that might actually benefit from his absence? >> indeed, that is a very good point. they do have his nearest rival, ron desantis is not that near at all. this debate is ron desantis's opportunity to step out from underneath trump's shadow to really show what he has to offer. he will also be the candidate at the other candidates on stage will be trying to best.
