france 24. i am mark owen, these are the headlines. joe biden said israel did not fire the missile of the destroyed the hospital. he said the strike appeared to come from the other team. there are protests across the muslim nations in the wake of the strike on the hospital in gaza.
3:31 pm
a resolution that the un security council filed against all civilians. israel has a right to defend itself. this is live in paris. thank you very much for being with us. joe biden back to claim of a missile strike in gaza was from the palestinian group. israel says it intelligence shows the position held by the group of islamic jihad.
3:32 pm
causes health ministries has at least 471 people have been killed. hamas says it was an israeli strike. biden backed israel's position. >> the palestinian people are suffering greatly as well. we mourn the loss of innocent palestinian lives. based on the information we seen today question joe biden speaking earlier in israel. we are getting work reaction and more analysis of the situation. for more about the international reaction and all the
3:33 pm
implications that involves. >> we can look at israel's allies since the bombing yesterday, we saw some shift because at the beginning it was pretty largely reported that it was an australian strike. -- israeli strike. everyone condemned the bombing of the hospital with civilians. without saying who is responsible for it, quickly, the israeli said we are not responsible. we did not operate in that area. we brought some elements that they say proved the palestinian group was behind this bombing. they say it was a filmed rocket firing and they have some elements to give to their allies that were released even to the media. this phone conversation allegedly between two hamas
3:34 pm
members, this is what the israeli army says it is. they talk about this failed rocket launch from stopping jihad nearby at the hospital. there is another element released to the press. they had a camera on the israeli side dome in the gaza strip and they identified rocket fire at the time of the bombing. they did it was them. they say it was clearly the israelis. reaction across the world, we have her joe biden who clearly said palestinian groups are responsible for this. the italian defense minister also went in that direction. we can see his tweet today. he says everyone was shocked by the deaths in hospital. after this, he urges punishment
3:35 pm
for hamas. he is convinced by the israeli narrative. almost all other countries are much more cautious. they said we have the elements but we are examining them with our own intelligence services to know if those elements are legitimate, what they mean. you can imagine the israelis have other elements that the only game to their allies because whenever they release intelligence, this makes them lose this channel, this spying on hamas and islamic jihad. even his phone call conversation we heard in the press, now these operatives now they are being listened to if all this is untrue. you also have countries like france for example, emmanuel macron very cautious from the beginning and not talking too much about what these elements mean. we are waiting to see all intelligence services trying to understand what happened and then we talk about india for example who says we don't
3:36 pm
necessarily know who is responsible for this bombing but it is the conflicts that kills and everyone involved in the conflict is responsible for those deaths. >> i know you agree that 400 had one people -- it happened. it is a tragedy that it happened at all. >> the official statements are clear. right after yesterday's bombing, they condemned israel. jordan canceled the summit with israel's ally, joe biden, this regional summit. also, the arab countries have not reacted to the elements brought by israel. but they are extremely worried because all of this not only may lead to more violence in the
3:37 pm
gaza strip, more deaths but also a lot of violence with protests generating. we see there are some talks. the israeli media says the summit was canceled but now the king of jordan has still been talking to the americans. if there are contacts that continue, we can see the context can have real effects because now thanks to u.s. efforts and egyptian efforts, aid will finally arrive in the gaza strip . israel was forced to allow this and so this shows that this pressure and sometimes support will -- it can lead to results. >> we are basically in hospital.
3:38 pm
thank you so much for that briefing. our own journalist here at 524, the examination of the reaction across the board in this incident which is causing great concern to all. how did it happen? thank you very much indeed. two troops shot dead. the demonstration was here. there have been protests across the arab world this wednesday.
3:39 pm
these protesters watched on in horror. they say israel is to blame for the attack despite islamic jihad being at fault. >> it is sad. the people are really going through right now. >> protesters also project accusations of islamic jihad causing the attack. buildings were set on fire while security forces try to disperse crowds.
3:40 pm
thousands gathered outside the israeli embassy leaving security forces overwhelmed. it was a similar story. it was the french embassy that was the scene of mass demonstrations. protesters are asking that u.s. ambassador is being expelled. >> we are here as instance, activists as students to tell the road what is happening in gaza at palestine is an occupation that dates back to 1948. the international community is silent when it comes to the massacres. quick since the start of the war early this month, pro-palestinian demonstrations have been reverberating across the globe. >> this is a conflict on more than one front.
3:41 pm
we are getting word here from hezbollah. two members. two of their people killed this wednesday. we will get more on that as we get it. >> will there be an israeli ground offensive in gaza? as with many are predicting. let's get the analysis of the british military intelligence officer joining us live now. they said a ground invasion will happen soon. it is an inevitability. what is your sense of the situation? what do you feel? >> given the statement from the israeli prime minister, you can't do that from the air.
3:42 pm
it will take some form of grand offensive. but a grand offensive is extremely complex up altogether. that is the earliest the israelis would be ready with troops for this. they will be anxious because of what will be waiting for them. hamas will have repaired traps for them at every stage and they will want to make sure that when they go in, they have clearly defined objectives. hamas has a good history of killing a lot of israeli soldiers whenever they go into different areas on the ground. click this whole context will be one of guerrilla warfare. >> thomas learned the lessons.
3:43 pm
hamas used improvised explosive device is to attack israel from so many different angles. they killed a significant number of troops compared to the ones that have gone into this relatively small area. they have had years to prepare for this. tunnels, guerrilla warfare, tax. that will not stop a lot of these guerrillas from holding up only one or two people. >> indeed. i am sure your knowledge is far stronger than mine but we are led to believe that it is crisscrossed completely with tunnels. >> very much so. the other big problem is hamas has dispersed his military
3:44 pm
capability through its military population. they have weapons manufacturing inside apartment blocks in mosques. they put antiaircraft sites close to hospitals. by the very nature of israel having to go in and attack the military capabilities, there attacking civilian infrastructure. hamas don't want the local civilian population to move away. that is part of the wider information operation. >> this next phase, however it happens it could be even more bloody.
3:45 pm
>> even more. the potential for this to have a huge impact on the civilian population in gaza is the potential for it to be disastrous. remember, they spent over a year planning this. they put reparations in place. this is what israel will be sending back. looking at what they can do to understand the threats. it is not going to be an easy ride. >> there are some 499 hostages. their safety is said to be a priority to some. it seems that within the israeli , there seems to be an expedience about that, a sense that they are there but we have to carry on the way we want to
3:46 pm
carry on. their safety, what do you feel about that? >> it will be something that is a major factor on the ground offensive. to go and get the hostages if they can identify where they are. a lot of the hostages are not just israeli citizens. the israeli are trying to keep those countries informed and remain on their side. it is a huge factor and it will weigh heavily on the israeli options that they take but we have to be realistic, it is not going to be easy to get them out. the hostages. >> joe biden is repeating his steadfastness in supporting israel.
3:47 pm
do you think we will see american personnel in some way, shape or form in israel over the coming days and weeks? quick there has been a close relationship with israeli military. the significant thing is the movement of the american carrier battle groups. you go with who isn't normally in the area. the descendant a very significant message to other countries that are surrounding this to say do not get involved. the embattled groups are not there to influence israel's war against hamas. they are there to deter iran, lebanon, syria and others from getting directly involved and attacking into israel. that shows the level of concern the united states has got. this could book to be something
3:48 pm
a lot bigger. >> the u.k. getting involved as well. >> the u.k. is heavily involved. it has civilian aircraft in. the u.k. has a permanent health carrier in the eastern military. the runway there can easily be used for aircraft flying over syria. in the fight against the islamic state. israel and gaza and the rest of it is in close range. that is critical to this whole operation as well. >> thank you for your time and analysis. we greatly appreciate your

analysis. including the heinous terrorist attacks by hamas against israel. linda thomas-greenfield said after the vote president joe biden is in the region engaging in diplomacy to secure the release of hostages to prevent the conflict from spreading. she said you need to let that the policy player. in new york, france 24. >> almost up into the last minute was hope that the united states might let this resolution go through. brazil worked really hard to make it palatable to the united states to wear a cease-fire was not even in there. it talked about humanitarian causes but as the brazilian
3:50 pm
delegate meant it, sadly, this resolution did not pass. the united states used its veto. this was because the u.s. wanted to leave room for biden to carry out diplomacy on the ground. and also because the united states objected to the fact that this resolution did not express -- support the way for israel to exist. the russian delegate really slammed the united states veto by saying this was hypocrisy and double standards. china's ambassador also described this as unbelievable. the fact that the u.s. decided to use its veto. the united states has been a staunch defender of israel in the security council but seeing as the wording of this
3:51 pm
resolution had been so carefully written as to be acceptable to all sides, it was expected in my past. this was seen by many as a failure of the u.n. security to fulfill its mandate to ensure peace and security across the world. >> the u.s. vetoing that resolution. we will have more as it develops. we stay with the israel and hamas war. >> we have been discussing the news. the claim and counterclaim regarding the strike. one side blaming the other is the basic premise we have here. tell us what your evidence shows .
3:52 pm
>> the strike that hit gaza city's hospital on a tuesday they killed hundreds according to the gaza health ministry quick the palestinian official says it was caused by a blast and the others say it was caused by a rocket. we see images from the aftermath. it is impossible to draw conclusions. here is what we have found. live footage from al jazeera aired at 6:59 p.m.. that is local time where we see a bright light rising in the gaza sky. the video suggests to show a rocket which appears to disintegrate in the sky and
3:53 pm
explode. this explosion was based on geolocation findings and other i.t. specialist to analyze this from al jazeera. this footage shows a rocket fail breaking up into pieces and one falling in the hospital. you can see the same visual elements that would support this thesis. you can see the side of this building may have underlined in blue. you can see the explosion further away. all of this based on their geospatial findings.
3:54 pm
>> what does that tell us? >> here is a video that filmed the aftermath of the blast. it was postal on instagram today. what we see in particular is this video shows the impact right there. you can see a smaller crater. that is right here and it took place near the parking lot of the hospital. evidence that is consistent with these findings here. he posted this video where we see burned cars, significant damage to cars that seem to have been produced by a fire. there is also detail on the exact spot that it hit. once again, the parking lot of this hospital and this detailed
3:55 pm
view of nvidia found here. we could see the exact spot of the blast that hit. as well as this little crater that left behind. there is this picture taken by reuters. it shows the exact impact spot. based on this image, the military advisor, one of the old express that has come out and give an opinion on the matter says never hit the hospital in gaza was not an airstrike. he says the impact does not appear to be consistent with any of the missiles usually used by the israeli army. in these types of strikes, the image shows a greater consistent with a small weapon that nonetheless both sides of this conflict can possess.
3:56 pm
they can confirm if this was a bomb or rocket that hit the hospital. the >> it is worth remembering that these 500 people lost their lives as a result of this. tell us what this video -- what does the video tells about the area that was hit? >> they were able to deal locate this other video on a telegram that was posted early wednesday showing the aftermath. you can see this grassy area that shows more details of the casualties of these. here is another video as well. you can see the presence of blankets and what appears to be articles of clothing and other personal belongings at a site that was occupied by many people who were arrested were sleeping at the time of the blast. many of which were fatal victims of the blast and based on this video we see -- you can
3:57 pm
determine this grassy area they show is located right here in this yellow square also located near the crater that was dear located at the parking lot where we see the burned cars. consistent with the evidence we found earlier. so far this is the only information that is certain based on the big as we have available. a blast that took place at 7:00 p.m. local time, the hospital's parking lot -- no conclusions can be made. forensic experts have yet to communicate their own findings on this matter. request that would be conclusive independent analysis. thank you for bringing that evidence. the claims and counterclaims will continue but at least we can try to provide some, analysis of the situation. thank you all for watching.
