romney rout. mitt romney sailed to victory in florida besting newt gingrich by 14 percentage points, in the winner take allstate. romney's camp confirms he will begin receiving secret service protection starting tomorrow. tracie potts joins us with more. >> reporter: newt gingrich was unable to come back here in florida but insists he will be back to tampa for the convention making this a two-man race to the very end. >> thank you tonight for the great victory. >> mitt romney now has three times as many delegates as newt gingrich and starting tomorrow, secret service protection, too, after a decisive win in florida. he won women, seniors and hispanics, 46% of the vote after bombarding ads. >> a competitive primary does not divide it it prepares us.

>> it will be a united party. >> gingrich did not call to congratulate romney. he insists he'll compete in upcoming caucus states. >> we will contest every place and we will win and be in tampa as the nominee in august. >> reporter: overnight, federal reports revealed whose funding these campaigns. wall street is backing romney, his pac earned $30 million last year. gingrich's pac got a $10 million donation from wonone casino own will fuel more ads. the negative public doesn't want to see two or three candidates get in a mud wrestling match where everybody walks away dirty. >> reporter: on to nevada where ron paul says he has the best chance of winning. >> if enthusiasm wins elections, we would win hands down. >> reporter: rick santorum came

in third is hoping to do better in the caucuses. he's got an ad ready for nevada and colorado. lynn? now the democratic party reaction to the florida primary voting. debbie wasserman-schultz appeared on our prime time coverage of the florida rupts and talked about who voted and what they cared about. >> the republican electorate in particular that turned out more than two thirds identify with the tea party, supportive of the tea party, this was a conservative extreme republican electorate, not reflective of the moderate purple state florida is, president obama won florida in 2008, he will win florida again, because when it comes to housing, when it comes to medicare, when it comes to jobs and the economy, when it comes to tax policies, president obama has been fighting to make sure that people can stay in their homes, that seniors will

not have benefits cut, that we will make sure when it comes to immigration, we can fight for comprehensive immigration reform and republicans led by mitt romney are dramatically out of step with the priorities that floridians care about. i think that is why florida will remain blue and contribute reelecting president obama in november. the latest numbers are out from the federal election commission on campaign fundraising, among the republicans, mitt romney raised $24 million in the fourth quarter. ron paul was second, newt gingrich third, rick santorum. harold simmons, a texas corporate raider, pumped $8.5 million in three super pacs last fall. $7 million to former bush white house political aide karl rove and his super pac. on the democratic side, president obama raised $68 million in the fourth quarter. democratic party super pacs raised comparatively paltry

total $13 million for all of 2011. in a special congressional election in oregon last night the democrats held on to a house seat. a former state senator won the vote in portland and some of the suburbs, she will replace david hoo after a woman accused him of making an unwanted sexual advance. here is other news going around america. dramatic video out of new jersey showing police officers saving a man trapped in a burning car monday night. that is not the video. officers were shocked to find anyone inside the car when they spotted a 57-year-old man passed out in the driver's seat. his door was stuck, but one of the officers -- there it is, was able to brave the flames and free the man. he is now at home recuperatinre a car crashed in an apartment while a man was sleeping inside. the victim was pinned for more

than an hour before crews were able to free him. police say the driver led them on a lengthy chase. in new york, a five-story building gave new meaning to the term "high rise" police were raided a massive marijuana growing operation there with hundreds of plants and elaborate growing system. sources say each floor of the building was used for a different stage of the growing process. finally, not a bird, not a plane and contrary to what you are seeing, those are not people flying around manhattan. those are radio controlled planes shaped to look like humans soaring across the new york city skyline. they were flown as a publicity stunt for a new movie and video has gotten more than a million hits on youtube. you can imagine why. it looks real. now a look at the national weather we turn to bill, who is grinning. >> took me three minutes to get the high rise joke from the previous story. >> you of all people?

that may have come from the brain trust. >> probably did, little slow on that one. >> good morning, everyone lynn and everyone included yesterday was a beautiful day, people were out in the park, the grass was green, it was absolutely incredible in so many areas of the country, 57 in chicago. new york city almost hit 60, d.c. 66 degrees, spring fever around the country. even areas like minneapolis, 45 was great, billings at 51. wasn't many areas of the country where it didn't feel like the first real spring day. it will slowly go back to winter but will be slow. not going to see anything dramatic the first week of february. we have a little bit of light rain today, not going to be the beautiful blue skies and sunshine like we had yesterday in the eastern half of the country. but it's light rain will be scattered as we go throughout the morning commute. light rain along the new york state thruway.

p pittsburgh, ground is wet. not a lot of wet weather, you need the windshield wipers and don't want any rain drops on you bring the umbrella from new york to philadelphia, baltimore, d.c. and hartford around boston. rain in west virginia and kentucky pushes to the east. louisville and lexington most of the day should be dry. same for you in nashville. one area of the country seeing the worst area weather is louisiana, strong thunderstorms on interstate 55 south of jackson, good storms with lightning strikes. that is where the heaviest rain is, that will push through mississippi and eventually alabama. as far as the forecast goes, we have the rain in the deep south along the gulf coast, eventually atlanta will get light rain. the big cities in the east, light showers this morning will give way to very warm conditions this afternoon. maybe some breaks of sunshine, too, we could once again be seeing temperatures like march, all the way up to boston, middle of the country, a little cool near minneapolis, this is very warm for this time of year.

paperwork this morning for $5 billion initial public offering. the company is looking at a valuation between $75 and $100 billion make it one of the largest public companies in the world. markets were mixed tuesday due to unexpected drop in home prices and consumer confidence, but the dow and s&p still notched their best gains in 15 years. disappointing after the bell revenue from amazon will be a factor today. earlier exxon mobil dipped 2% after the profit narrowly beat expectations. the same day pfizer beat estimates, it recalled birth control pills that may not contain enough contraceptive. transportation stocks slipped, disgraced former royal bank of scotland ceo fred goodwin stripped of the knighthood after leading the bank to near

we'll get a mini snow storm of southern wyoming, colorado, nebraska, that is it. the chunk of cold air remains up in canada. by the time we get to about the middle of next week we are looking at a big chunk of cold air, very cold once you get to the white colors around hudson bay. there are signs the second week of february some of this will try to sneak down in the eastern u.s. first week looks like getting away with spring-like weather. middle of february more of a return to winter. as far as that snow goes, looks like a little bit starting here in colorado as we go through thursday afternoon, thursday evening. then by thursday night into friday, anyone traveling from pueblo, colorado springs, in to kansas will deal with the mini snow storm. so lynn, another day, 60s all the way up to new york city today. one more week of above average temps. >> bill, thanks so much. coming up adele prepares to
