with the show going on, with the music world still reeling after this weekend's tragic death of pop superstar whitney houston. last night at the grammy awards, the industry paid tribute to the singer. and not far away, the investigation into the cause of her death continues. gina kim joins us with the latest. she's in beverly hills for us. jinah, good morning. >> good morning. it could be two months before we learn what substances, if any, may have played a factor in whitney houston's death. her fellow artists made last-minute stage to the grammys show to reflected the deep sense of loss felt by so many around the world. >> i want to say to whitney in heaven, we love you, whitney houston. >> reporter: music's awards show turned into a memorial for

whitney houston. videos were shown throughout the night, as well as a tender rendition of her most famous ballad. >> the passion and how effortless she was with it. we celebrate that tonight. >> i don't think any of us have come to the full realization of what this means. >> reporter: earlier sunday, the los angeles county reporter told reporters an autopsy had been done. but it's far too early to tell what may have caused the singer's death. >> i know there were reports that she maybe drowned. did she overdose? we won't make a final determination until all the tests are in. >> he said it will likely take six to eight weeks before toxicology reports are back. criminal intent seems to be ruled out. whitney's daughter, bobby christina was rushed to the hospital monday morning.

her father, singer bobby brown, cut short his concert tour in the middle east and arrived to los angeles sunday night. it took the coroner's office three months to release the cause of death in michael jackson's case. it could be a while before we hear anything definitive on whitney houston. >> thanks so much. as for the actual grammy awards, it was a huge night for adele. we'll have that, as well as more on the tributes to whitney houston later on the show. first, on the campaign trail, mitt romney scored symbolic wins. and the straw poll. recording the straw poll win, rick santorum charges that romney's camp hasn't been playing well. good morning. >> hi, lynn. good morning. good morning, everyone.

let's start on the campaign trail with the straw poll. romney beat santorum 38-31. and in an interview to cnn, santorum seemed to imply that maybe romney rigged the straw poll. the straw poll and cpac that did the poll over the situation, paul had won those straw polls because he trucks in a lot of people and they vote and leave. making a reference of the win by romney. romney's spokesperson, says santorum has a history of making statements that are not grounded in the truth. moving forward to today, and what's going on in washington, in virginia, nearby, president obama will unveil his budget plan. it promises to cut 4 trillion from the budget over ten years with new spending in areas like education and transportation. but also new taxes. letting the bush tax cuts expire for the wealthy. and that 30% minimum tax on

millionaires. >> tracie, thanks. more than 100 protesters fought with greek. scores of officers and demonstrators were injured. and 45 riotsers were arrested. >> reporter: the pressure cooker of greece's capital boiled over saturday night. even before a crucial vote got under way, protesters were lashing out about the likely outcome. a starbucks torched from the inside-out. the windows of an athens building, belching flames. athens has been volatile for month. but these clashes took on new ferocity. battles ignited across the capital. officers responded with teargas. the chaos could not be ignored by lawmakers inside parliament.

greek prime minister lucas papademos denounced the violence. a difficult session. >> we face a very, very tough but a very, very crucial decision. the greek parliament will send a message of responsibility. a message of sense of duty to the people of greece and to the people of europe. >> reporter: in the midnight hour, the parliament approved a bailout deal by a wide margin. under the plan, greece will receive $170 billion in rescue loans by the european union and international rescue fund. it's a life raft from agencies. but greek citizens will feel the blow. 150,000 public sector jobs will be lost. there will be cuts to the minimum wage by a fifth. and a reduction in pensions. some wonder if it's too high of a price to pay.

here's your first look at some of the other news going on around america today. a virginia woman was nearly killed when a powerful wind brought down a tree on her home there. she was sleeping, it pinned her to the bed. firefighters worked over an hour to free the woman who suffered nonlife threatening injuries. building inspectors deemed her house uninhabitable. winter continued on a bizarre course. this time in atlanta. it caused one fountain to become encased in ice. spectators braved the cold to get a glimpse of the rare sight. that's not normal for atlanta. and00 100 people gathered outside of city hall in san jose. a pillow fight broke out. organizers spread the word on facebook and twitter. this is the first year of the event, which was inspired by a similar battle held across the

bay in san francisco. and now, for a look at your national weather. wow. look who decided to join us once again. we've been working. i hope you're well rested. >> my little girl was up at like 5:00 a.m. she's like, let's watch "first look." all right. i guess so. >> she was like this. >> oh, that lynn. i like her so much. >> she was suckered into baby sitting. how is it out there? >> it's interesting. winter moved in a big way this weekend. we have snow all through the middle of the country. we have a couple storms to deal with. none of these are blockbuster, huge events. we're going to have a slippery commute in many areas in the nation. the east coast, it was a cold day yesterday. the coldest in the winter in many areas of new england and the mid-atlantic. florida is cold this morning. but it's not snowing. it should be sunny during the day today. all of the troublesome areas in the middle of the nation. snow in many spots. as far south as texas and

louisiana today. missouri's going to get snow. st. louis, kansas city. a lot of the areas will see school delays out there. it's not huge. only one to three inches is expected. it's widespread. dallas, for you, most of the snow stays outside of the city limits to the north, on interstate 30 especially here. we're going to get into memphis and possibly nashville, too. in st. louis, it will snow as we go throughout your day. chicago, later on tonight. as far as the snow forecast, not a huge snow event. one to three inches for chicago tonight. st. louis, during the day today. kansas city, this morning with joplin and springfield. dallas to oklahomaty, you're about done with whatever you have on the ground is all you're going to get. other areas of concerned, that freeze warning is down into tampa and orlando. much of the nation is still chilly. but the big warm-up is under way. this is it. that was the peak of the cold

complain about how cold it was yesterday. >> you're not supposed to tell people these things. >> it was cold for one day. >> i forgot the code. >> i complain about nothing. >> it was cold. it was one day of it. it was windy, too. that's what made it unbearable to be outside, especially in new england. the mid-atlantic wasn't that good. this morning, we're not bad. the temperatures are in the 20s. the wind has died down. you need the winter coat and the glos for the kids today. it's not horrible. we warm up to the 30s and 40s. it's breezy all day. maybe snowshowers upstate new york. chicago, you will hold off until tonight. only expecting an inch or two. but the kids will like it. one to two inches in missouri and arkansas. the snow is exiting areas in texas.

tony bennett. last year's it girl taylor swift was the big country winner. but this year and this night belongs to 23-year-old english soul singer, adele, who matched beyonce with most grammy wins by a woman at six, with album and song of the year. her success of ballads about breakups and heartache, adele says she is done with those songs. she wants to focus on cheery, lovie-dovey songs. she has a new man in her life. that may contribute to the songs -- >> it's over. >> now, you know, she will be wedding songs. >> can i call her and advise her not to do this. >> hold on. let me get the contacts list. and it's with a long list of mick jagger and other pop stars. it will be interesting to see if people buy into it.
