8:02 pm
but inmates who behave badly are sent to the administrative segregation unit. >> segregation is an area where we house roughly 200 inmates, and all these inmates are individually celled and they are all here because they broke a rule infraction here in prison. >> human contact in segregation is extremely limited. and interaction with others is at a minimum. this deprivation can take its toll on an inmate both physically and mentally. >> you've got a lot of inmates back there that have been in single cells for a long time. and they, of course, build up hostilities. it's a highly explosive area. >> i did not do what they said i did. >> [ bleep ], [ bleep ], [ bleep ], move [ bleep ]. take me back to my [ bleep ] cell. >> another typical day in ad seg.
8:03 pm
that's part of it. >> these officers work here and on a daily basis they deal with these inmates and you build up a relationship with these inmates. and some are good. some are not so good. >> most people said when i started i wouldn't make it. three days until i had a point to prove and i proved it here. then they said i wouldn't make sergeant, and if i did i wouldn't be a successful sergeant. so i like to say i made another point and i'm proving it. everything about it is a challenge. it's not a normal job where you just learn something and you do it. nothing's ever the same. i mean, you make a decision today for one incident, tomorrow it may be the same incident but you have to make a different decision.
8:04 pm
>> y'all want to act up, huh? >> working in ad seg, sergeant banks has to deal with many problematic inmates. >> i asked her not to put me in my cell! nobody is gonna [ bleep ] over my head! >> when i deal with jammy bell, i deal with his issues only. bobby gilbert, i don't have any problems with. i just know of the problems that other people have. >> is there any inmate in here to give you problems? >> yes. >> who? >> i would say terrance mosley. >> come look at this. come look at [ bleep ]. come look at it. >> you ain't got nothing to see. >> he says he's infatuated with me, he's obsessed with me, he would do anything for me. >> didn't you get in trouble all weekend? >> he likes to masturbate at the same time all the time.
