morning with all necessary measures. president obama and other leaders of the world's largest economies will wrap up a two-day economic summit in mexico today. they're going to be ramping up pressure on the european union to take bolder steps to resolve its debt crisis once and for all. tracy pots is in washington for us with the details. tracy, good morning. >> reporter: lynn, good morning. more government spending, not goth cuts, may be the answer to preventing a financial crisis in europe and around the world that. is what we will see in a draft statement. we've seen the draft statement. the final statement expected to come out of the g-20 later today, stating that the biggest countries are ready to spend more. of course, the biggest concern is the euro zone. the 17 nations in europe and whether the problems in spain and in greece with those economies may cause that euro zone to falter. but there are other issues they're dealing with as well, like egypt, the military trying

to strip power from the democratically elected government in syria. that was a big one on the table yesterday as president obama sat down with russia's president vladimir putin. they said that they had commonalities. the president said that they agreed that the violence needs to end, but not a lot of specifics there, especially when it comes to whether or not syria's president needs to go. elsewhere, new evidence was released in the trayvon martin murder case yesterday, and it included jail calls from george zimmerman to her husband, proving she lied when she said she and her husband were broke. nbc's jay gray has that story. >> we are hearing more from the man who shot and killed trayvon martin. six recordings of jailhouse phone calls between zimmerman and his wife shelley. they talk about their love for each other, confidence in his

legal council, and buying bulletproof vests for themselves and their attorney. >> i want you wearing one. i want o'meara having one. >> prosecutors say the recording also reveals zimmerman providing his wife with detailed instructions on how to access ak account. they discuss the funds in code, calling paypal peter pan and never revealing how much they have. >> take your ten out first. at the institution, see if you can put ten into hers right away and see if you can put that ten out and put it in the box there. >> prosecutors say when they talk about ten, the zimmermans are actually discussing $10,000, and that despite telling the judge they were broke, the zimmermans actually had access

to at least $130,000 when bond was set. that bond was revoked and zimmerman was sent back to jail, his wife was arrested on the charge of making a false statement. still, his attorney has down played the allegations. >> though they weren't honest with judge lester at first, that it was disclosed four days later. the money was transferred and taken care of. >> a new bond hearing for george zimmerman is scheduled for next week. and here's your first look at some of the other news going on around america today. in florida, it was just an amazing sight. doctors removed a three-foot spear from a teenage boy's head. he accidentally impaled just before heading out on a spear fishing trip. surgeons had to actually use a metal cutter just to be able to place his head in a cat scan device. they say the 16-year-old is now out of intensive care and recovering. unreal. an arizona massive flames and numerous small explosions

destroyed a warehouse used by a plumbing wholesaler. strong winds fueled the fire and heavy smoke could be seen for miles. the cause is under investigation. no one was hurt. in virginia beach, a driver says her foot slipped and that is the result. her car came crashing through the front doors of a sandwich shop. three people including a baby were inside the car and four people were inside the store, but thankfully, no serious injuries. and finally, in minnesota. this is skevey. anything but a dream home. broken pipes and water combine to cover the house in mold. neighbors started seeing the disgusting sight back in march and now authorities say it will finally be cleaned up. now for your national weather, here's your weather channel forecast. >> what would you rather have, the mold or bedbug?

>> mold. bedbug infestation, you are socially just blacklisted. no one will ever speak to you again. mold, they can fix it and get on with it. >> okay, interesting choice. >> seriously freaking me out. good morning, everyone. some strong storms are rolling through the northern plains. the trouble spot right through minneapolis, right down interstate 35, a really strong thunderstorm with hundreds of lightning strikes that are coming down from minneapolis southwards. if you're in this area, try to stay indoors the next half-hour. then these storms will be gone crossing into wisconsin. a pretty strong storm we've been dealing with. there's actually some more back here toward st. cloud. the other big story is the summertime heat. we are going to watch the really, really hot conditions that are now in nebraska and oklahoma and kansas and illinois, those are going to spread into the northeast in the days ahead. the reason it's going to be such a big deal in the northeast is

it hasn't even been in the 90s yet this summer in areas like new york city and basketball. so you'll go from a relatively cool june to intense heat and the shock to the system is really difficult for the elderly especially. so that's who we'll be worried about. otherwise just a warm summer like pattern across the country. for today, the hot temperatures begin to spread east. temperatures getting into the upper 80s in areas like washington, d.c. once again in chicago at 95. here it is, lynn. tomorrow we're looking at 95 and humid in d.c. and we'll be up to 98 degrees in boston. you know, you were just in cape cod. you know how cool and chilly it's been. >> 65 this weekend, so this will be a bit of a shock. wall street's latest worry. a competitor for the ipad. and the latest sneaker fashion that went way too far. your first look at this morning's business headlines is straight ahead. coming up, the yankees are a

"the huffington post" reports eric hovde is sick of media sob stories about people who can't get food stamps in tough times. he wants more focus on the debt and the country as a whole. that sounds warm and fuzzy compared to indiana's gop senate candidate richard murdock. he argues employers should be exempt from covering health care they morally oppose like contraception and shouldn't have to pay for anything they find too expensive, even cancer

welcome back to "first look" in. sports, roger clemens posted one of the biggest victories of his life yesterday, in court. here's nbc's fred rogan. >> reporter: good morning, and you can add another win to roger clemens' resume. the most decorated pitcher in history was found not guilty on obstruction and perjury cases. jurors rejected the prosecution's case that clemens lied in 2008 about using performance-enhancing drugs. the verdict is also a blow to the government who spent millions of taxpayer dollars to prosecute the zefb-time cy young winner. will the baseball writers forgive him enough to elect him to the hall of fame. today it's cc sabathia, struck out ten for his first complete game of the year. mark teixeira and robinson cano both hit solo shots. yanks beat the braves 7-2, winning ten straight. who would have thought r.a. dickey would be this good? the mets' newfound ace kept the
