rut into a beauty rescue, get inspired to freshen up your look with these mini makeovers. busy moms tend to tell the same story about beauty. i don't spend a lot of time, because i don't have a lot of time, i have five kids ranging in age form 10 1/2 to 2 1/2. so i am chauffeur, mom, nurse, i have my own small business. so i need something that i looks good looks professional but also can go along with being a mom. i'm a mother of two little ones so i'm on the go all the time. for me i need to get ready fairly quickly and get out the door because there is always school or gymnastics or whatever. i have four boys, i'm a very busy mom, running them around, and then i work, a little powder, little blush, mascara maybe some lip gloss, usually something really fast. but salon owner trey gillian says you shouldn't have to sacrifice style
2:33 am
for a busy schedule so he and makeup artist lynette bloom teamed up to give these trussed, stressed, moderately made up moms easy ways to freshen up their looks. my hair has always been coarse, it was always straight until i had babies. and with each baby it got curlier and curlier. while misty likes to wear her hair curly or straight, most days she's frustrated by the frizz. and as for makeup, my eyes disappear when i smile so just open that up a little i think. and then i like my lips. what would benefit your hair texture with the humidity in town is perfection smooth out. it doesn't remove curl, you still have full body and waves, the perfection smooth out is a non-harsh chemical smoothing treatment. much like keratin without formaldehyde. it gets brushed on section by section, sits for 30 minutes, and then gets rinsed out.
2:34 am
then you blow-dry the hair and flat iron it at 450 degrees, which seals the product into the hair. one more rinse and shampoo and a great blowout. it will take ten minutes off the blow-dry time, and all the fizz and flyaways. after finishing up in treys hair chair misty moved to makeup. we started off very soft, nude, and bare and i told her that's what she could do everyday. cream eye shadow, tinted moisturizer, liquid concealer, lip gloss and then she can add more contour eye liner, brush her brows and there it is. i didn't think i would like that this, when trey told me i could blow-dry my hair and wear it curly after blow-drying it was amazing because normally it just gets bigger and bigger and its so soft and i can wear it straight or curly and its faster to dry
2:35 am
so that amazing and then the techniques that lynette showed me for the makeup, opening up my eyes, accentuating the places i like, i feel i can replicate and do on my own and not have to bring her home with me. i have very curly hair, naturally so i have to flat iron it. and i get gray very easily. i'm in a rut, been doing the same thing for 8-9 years, so i'm looking for a change, i'm the frumpy mom and want something new and fresh. for makeup. i don't do foundation, i do powder. i do eye shadow, light more natural. i do liquid eye liner on top and pencil on the bottom and a light lip-gloss, natural and basic. first up: hair. well i love the richness of your color. i think its great for you, it brings out your eyes.
2:36 am
so what we're going to do is color her a single process, the color she already is which is a dark brown but i'm going to mix it up with a slightly lighter brown highlights just so its not one color and looks black. also cut a side swoop on sabrina so it will soften up the face frame too. next stop makeup. so for sabrina she wanted something different other than black liner. so i started out with golds and natural colors. bronzer color. we went black board and make it stylized, verses just there. made it thicker and elongated her eyes. we put the black to work, instead of eliminating it we used it to enhance it even more. i love it. i feel i look refreshed. the face color palette is not something i do, especially the lipstick.

the hair is very chic. i like the bang, going to play with it and see what i can do. not a completely new me but enough to make it fresh and not stale like i was. my hair is long and kind of wavy but not really. i can't fix it curly but if i don't dry it i have to straighten it. and i do like the color of my hair. but in the summer i like it better because i get all these highlights. her makeup is usually minimal because she suffers from color confusion. i'm never sure what color to use on my eyes because they're not totally brown or green. leah is a common client in the salon. they have a bang grown out that's disconnected from this long hair i like to marry the two together. layers are the alphabet to your hair so you hair can make a complete sentence. if you don't have the right
2:38 am
layers they can't work together to make the shape you have. i wanted to change up her boring brunette and spice it with golden highlights. which makes you see the highlights in the hair. even if she air dries it or tosses it dry it will show off her natural texture more. leah came and her hair was so gorgeous so i wanted to match her face to that gorgeous hair. she has beautiful green eyes so i picked colors that she was actually wearing. so we did blues and grays and they complimented her green eyes. gave her a soft smoky eye. i love it. i love the highlights. i love my eyes because i had no idea using the blues would work with my skin tone. and i love the pink on my cheeks. because i always use peach and brown colors and i had no idea i should use pink.

well you can still find leather jackets and pops of leather embellishments, the focus this year is the legs. even if you're thinking i'm not so sure stylist wendy norwood patterson assures. every body type and age can wear leather, it's about incorporating it in a way that's right for you. you can be boho. we have paired sort of a tobacco color leather jean with a floral print silk tunic dress. or you can be business. we have her in the leather pencil skirt and we've added a black sheer silk top with peplums and we added a tweed blazer. but no matter what. everybody can fit a piece of leather into their wardrobe. if you're a beginner try swapping this look for leather. pairing leather leggings with a lightweight top is a great way to make it
2:43 am
a pre-fall or transitional piece. as the leather gets colder take that same look a little further. the best way to wear leather is paired with other textures. so to add one layer to this outfit and another texture is a fur or faux fur vest. and when the weather gets really cold swap it with a sweater. make sure you balance the look with something loose on top. if you're a little bolder upgrade the leggings for pants. this is a leather skinny jean, notice the pockets in the back and paired with a printed sheer top and then we put a blue blazer on top and on top of that we've added a faux fur vest. if you like to wear a trouser or maybe a let that's just a little bit looser wear it with a structured top or something more fitted.
2:44 am
leather is extremely versatile and you can take it from day tie to night item very easily. you've got suede shorts by day. we paired the shorts with a silk blouse and sweater and a pair of flats. or suede shorts by nights. it's the fun trend of shorts out in the evening and a cute top and high heels. and of course there is always late night leather. here we added a sequence top and a piece of jewelry and she's good to go our. the leather on the legs trend fits in so beautifully with all the other trends this fall. a pleated leather skirt with falls graphic print blouse with a classic camel sweater. i like mixing the texture of leather skirt and suede boot. don't think you should mix leathers. they have to be different. notice she's got a matte legging on, a solid color and we paired it with a neutral metallic jacket.
2:45 am
and the leather on the jacket is just a little bit distressed. the two pieces are different enough that they work together. remember isn't expensive it's always an investment. anything you buy in leather will be a classic piece. as long as it fits nicely and in a good condition you can keep it a long time. for more log onto livewellnetwork.com. up next on mirror mirror. how can this piece of ribbon organize your earrings? you'll find out after the break.

you've seen my jam-packed closets several times, i'm sure most of you can relate. i only wear about 20% of this, because the other 80% i can't see. image artist sarah shah is here with tips to make the most of our closets. sarah i love your first tip because it's the truth. it has to be visible. if you don't see it you're not going to wear it. most of the time when you organize, you stack your clothes in the drawer. i have three things i can wear right now. right if you don't see it you're not going to wear it.
2:49 am
instead do it this way. it takes up the same amount of space but this way you folded your clothes in 8ths and fold them in half again and then they're standing up and that way you can see everything. to keep your hanging items visible that you're not going to wear very often. put them in a clear bag instead of a dark bag this way you can still see what's in there and remember to wear it. so important but i like this one because there is an added bonus. on the back it's breathable. so mold build up and bugs can get through it because it's plastic. i didn't even know that happened. what's wrong with this. i can't see anything. exactly this is a quick fix just turn your bin on the side and stack everything up and now you can see everything. i love it. it's so simple and so smart. i have to tell you at home i have a ton of handbags and i don't wear them because it can't see them. sarah you know we love to wear our scarves but sometimes it's hard to store them. it can be but i've got a real easy tip.
2:50 am
i just took a wine box from the grocery store and picked a color of paint i already had that looked great in my closet and painted the box. so it looks pretty in our closet. exactly. and just put the scarves in. so just ball them up so that you can see all the different colors in the scarves and put them in each section. you can even hold your clothes right up and see which one matches. huh? so smart. a woman can never have too many shoes but what to do with them besides wear them sarah. great question for the shoes you wear all the time why not put them on a book case you can see them and when you have flats stand them up so you can see them behind your other shoes so they get lost back there. and then what do you do with the shoes you don't wear that often. i turn them into art in my closet. so i hang them on a nail or hang them on a basket so i can see them and enjoy them even if i'm not wearing them everyday. and then you'll
2:51 am
never forget them. okay let's talk jewelry. how about things you can just buy to make it easy. this rack holds your earrings, all your necklaces, bracelets and your scarves in one place. we did something creative with belts. many time belts end up in a basket and you can't see a everything. so i turned the waste basket around and put them around it so you can see them all. my favorite part these nifty do it yourself ideas, so talk to me about what you've done because you'd done some cool stuff. this one is push pins in the wall and you can do anything right off them and this one here is just made from spools of thread but we decorated it and put rings on it. this is my favorite diy. these are super easy, just got some frames and just put ribbon in them and you can display your earrings really easily.
2:52 am
and this didn't cost a lot of money. this was probably a dollar fifty each. dollar at good will and some other supplies. and that's priceless when you're actually wearing all the items you have in your closet because you can see them. i loved these frames so much i asked sarah to teach us how to make our own at home. take your frame and take all the glass out because you're not going to need that, use that for another project. and then just get a roll of screen from your big box store. it's not metal so it's easy to cut. and you might already have it in your garage. take your frame down and cut your screen. then once you have your piece of screen you lay it on your frame, open your stapler and stretch the screen and make sure the staple is right up in the frame and staple it. then trim up the screen and put your earrings on it.
2:53 am
and it was only a dollar or dollar fifty. you can't beat that can you. no. how did you make this awesome earring holder? the frame. little tacks and ribbon. you want to be careful about the ribbon you get. you want to make a hole really easily to get your earrings through it. pound a few of the tacks in. want to do that? sure. this could get dangerous. give it a good whack. woops. there's more. my bad. let's try again. i might find this job may not be good for me. give it a good whack. (laughing). apparently i don't know how to hammer things. sarah is going to take over from here. you just want them to be even so your earrings don't slide on a diagonal. about an inch to inch and a half apart.
2:54 am
once your nails are in wrap your ribbon around. if you wrap it several times it will keep it secure. when you get to the end tie it off and cut it. great then all you do is put your earring right through the ribbon. and you've got an earring holder. this is amazing. sarah thanks so much for the closet and jewelry tips, i'm so excited because we didn't spend any money. maybe a buck. maybe. that's it. for more information go to livewellnetwork.com. we're taking a signature summer color and repurposing it as a year round staple. when mirror mirror returns.

its summer, what makeup should i have, its fall what makeup should i have. well what i tell my clients is you can have the same thing but the technique changes and where you place it. she says don't stow away that bright eyeliner from summer use it for a base color all over your lid for fall. then layer any color shadow on top of it. purple was huge this summer it was a big thing everyone wanted in their makeup bags. i'm going to take a little bit and put it in the gold eyeliner we just used it will make it deeper and fall appropriate. still holding onto that bright spring blush. what we're going to do for the fall is take the coral blush and incorporate it with the deep shades of eye shadow.
2:58 am
not pack it on but it adds a little bit of a pop without going too overboard. it's going to compliment the purple and gold we already did. finish with that liner you wore to the pool for smudge proof eyes. give your bronzer the boot when the weather gets cool. no way. instead use it as a contour in specific areas. were going to concentrate just on the cheek areas and onto the chin. it gives that sculpted effect and keep you fall ready. so highlighters all the rage every summer. every summer you want to wear them every way you can get them on. for cool weather keep it light and simple. so instead of the cheeks, forehead, nose and everyway you can imagine, focus on the eyes soft and simple and it's going to be beautify. it's not what you have to throw away its how can you incorporate those into your fall look. for more on these products log onto livewellnetwork.com. that's it for this edition of mirror mirror for more beauty fashion and fitness tips
