she has spoken publicly aside from the 911 call that we heard her voice on. so again he is kind of going over the ground rules here. we want to give her plenty of room and make sure that she is comfortable making this statement is something that she wanted to do. she wanted to speak out to us today. so we are going to respect her wishes and respect the wishes. >> a local reporter there is also talking and trying to help transmit his sound exactly what he is saying. amanda berry is going to come out at the top of the hour and speak to local reporters and those on the scene that have gathered to support and show her love as she returns now. i was asking you before we dipped in right there, as more information is emerging about the brothers themselves, is it surprising to you as a former fbi profiler that these people were allowed to operate for as long as they were? >> i don't think it is
8:48 am
necessarily. you have individuals who are apparently alleged to be stone cold psychopaths. >> i hear you have new information for us, craig? >> reporter: we are starting to learn new details here. just told a short time ago that for ten years the three women did not see an adult according to initial interviews. according to police they did not see any adults. also found out a few moments ago according to police sources familiar with the investigation the victims have told them of multiple pregnancies, forcible rapes, miscarriages. they are starting to provide details on the conditions in which they were being kept. so, again, all of this starting to come out based on the initial
8:49 am
conversations between the police, between the federal investigators and the three women. >> and is there anymore information -- you are talking about the conditions they were kept in. is there any information as to how amanda berry was able to get close enough to the front door? have we learned more information about that? >> don't have those details right now but we are hearing that that information should be in a police report and that police report is expected to be released a little later today. as it was reported earlier we do know that there were chains found inside, that there were ties, that there were ropes found inside. so you take all of those things together and it paints a pretty awful picture. >> didn't see as you are saying for ten years any other adults outside of the alleged castro brother's kidnappers? >> according to police sources
8:50 am
based on their initial interviews with the three victims for a decade amanda berry, gina de jesus and michele knightmichele knight did not see any adults. >> craig, i'm going to ask you to stand by. we're waiting for amanda berry. kline van zandt, as you're hearing this information, and we were talking about how these brothers operated, again i think a lot of people look at the family, they didn't suspect anything. the neighbors saying they didn't suspect anything action didn't even know that ariel castro was truly living in that home. what more are you hoping we get out of this police report to help put some of the thinks missing blanks together. >> as we try to understand the personality types, what would motivate someone like this, there's a strong possibility that at least one of the suspects is going to turn out to be, what, a profilers or
8:51 am
psychiatrist would call a sexual sadist, someone not only capable of kidnapping, but as we know many times kidnapped children are assaulted and murdered, but in the case of a sexual sadist, they like to hold on to the victim. it's terrible to talk about, thomas, about you they like torture, they like bondage and restraints. it goes along with what the police are talking about now, with the chains, with the ropes and other things that were found inside the house that were used to tie these victims up over this past deck indicate. this is totally consistent. so we may well have one primary individual, perhaps the alleged suspect who had access to the house more often, but we're also told by witnesses and others that -- >> clint, i'm going to ask you to stand by. the local reporter was able to hear what the people that came out of the house just said. here comes amanda. this is her sister beth that's
8:52 am
coming out first. >> right here. >> back it up. >> that's it. stop. back it up. move back. >> back up. >> quiet, pliz. >> we appreciate all that -- -- thank you. >> that's it.
8:53 am
>> this is her sister. we missed the whole thing. we were listening to beth, amanda berry's sister, who just came out and gave brief remarks to reporters. i'm assuming that amanda berry is not going to be coming out as the commander had told us earlier, that amanda would be making brief remarks through this hour, but beth just came out thanking everybody for their love and support. it was a little hard to hear, but asking everyone to -- let's listen into the local reporter. she has a better idea. >> she said that amanda would not be making a statement at this time, but instead her
8:54 am
sister beth would be coming out to address the media. they did ask you to stand back, so we don't know exactly what she said. unfortunately we did miss that part, but you can see it was greeted or received with a bunch of cheering and applause by people who waited for this moment for them to come out, and to hear what they had to say, but amanda deciding today would not be the day she made a statement. as you can imagine, from what you see, this has to be overwhelming for anybody. we're talking about somebody who just spent ten years in captivity locked away. so imagine coming home and all of these emotions, and finally having a safe place to come home to and bring her daughter here. and now, you know -- i can very easily see why she could have been overwhelmed, why she wanted to wait another day. that's really what all this is about. we are not going to rush amanda. if and when she wants to say something to us, she will. we're told she will do so
8:55 am
through her sister beth, but in the meantime, this is what we have going on here at the scene right now. of course we're going to continue to see here and bring you any developments that come from here on west 129th street. back to you. lot record there on the scene. we had been told that amanda would be making a brief statement, but obviously beth decided or family members decided to send beth out to address the massive amount of reporters, as you have seen, that descended on beth, so it's probably a good idea that amanda berry didn't come out, because beth berry was descended upon to -- asking reporters to respect their privacy, and
8:56 am
thanks everybody for their love and support. as our craig melvin was on the scene, on the street, where the castro brothers allegedly held them for all these years, the police record is say they didn't see any adults for ten year. craig, as we think now about the fact that they didn't see adults for ten year and amanda berry is now overwhelmed by the amount of people, reporters, neighbors and loved ones who have coupled to cheer her safe return home, this has to be eye motionally overwhelming, and still her sister beth came out to address the cameras, not amanda. >> reporter: we saw her wipe her eyes as well, thomas, obviously overcome by emotion. it's been a long time since i've seen a crush of cameras and reporters like that. so you have to think for a young lady who has not seen another adult outside the house for
8:57 am
roughly a decade, just the sheer sight of that may have been enough to dissuade her from making that statement that we thought she was going to be making but again we are watching formal charges, kidnapping, rape, these are the two primary charges that we are expecting to hear more about. at this point we don't know whether all three of the castro brothers will be charged with kidnapping and rape, but we do expect that at least 52-year-old ariel castro will be charged with kidnapping and rape. we're also told when the formal charges come there will be another news conference and hopefully they'll fill in some of the numerous gaps here in cleveland. but a short time ago, police sources familiar with the investigation said that after a
8:58 am
conversation -- again, this is based on initial conversations with the three women, that they've been told about multiple pregnancies, forcible rapes, miscarriages, details of the conditions in which they had been kept inside the two-story house behind me as well. so, again, we are expecting the investigators to continue these conversations over the next few days. we're also told -- and this was according to a p.i.o., one of the police spokespeople earlier this morning, told nbc news that they are going to be talking to the three women, amanda betterry, gina dejesus, and michelle knight, about a young lady named ashley summers. she sways 14 when she went missing. ashley summers lived in the same area, so again investigators at this point it's important to know there's no definitive link, but they do want to talk to the three women about ashley summers
8:59 am
as well. >> she would be in that age range of interest to the alleged kidnappeders. clint, real quickly, as we've been hearing, the fact that these women haven't seen adults for ten years, what is the immediate reaction of a survivor of this to come home, get integrated and then flooded with this kind of attention. >> this is lie a p.o.w. being released from the hanoi hilton or something like that. i've seen situations where the victim in this case walks around, you touch things in the house. remember that amanda was 16 years old when she was kidnapped. she's in and out 26. she has lost ten years of her life. this is bringing probably back a number of memories. everything that was taken from her, including ten years of her life, she could get those ten

years back, but now she's returning to a house. she has to pick up life where she was ten years ago. now she has a child, now she has a whole other story to relive. >> these young girls interrupted at such a vital time in their lives, now coming back safely, hopefully the immediatia again will respect the wishes of the berry family, to please respect their privacies. thank you so much. that will do it for me today. i'm going to hand you over to alex wagner, who will pick up the hour with, "now." say manda berry, one of the three women in cleveland held as a captive, has just returned home. meanwhile, we were get new disturbing details emerging in the case regarding the three women in cleveland who were held as captives, today police are planning to question and could officially charge the three brothers suspected of kidnapping and raping their victims. the three girls all disappeared within a five-block radius and allegedly held captive just three
