republican governor is riding highment a new "wall street journal" poll is out this morning on everything from the president's approval to the race in 2016 and abc's tracy potts has the numbers. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, the president's poll numbers are holding steady despite these controversies, the poll does show americans are concerned about some of the people working under him. despite a significant drop in support amongmentins, president obama's job approval an favorability numbers essential lip haven't changed, still hovering just under 50%. >> these controversies have hit the president. they've nicked him up a bit, but they haven't damaged his standing just yet. >> reporter: but americans are questioning the honesty and integrity of his administration. vacate% have concerns about the deadly attack in benghazi and the justice department seizing reporters phone records.

politics. we are learning more about last week's deadly tornado in el reno. we are learning it is the widest ever recorded. friday's tornado was a record 2.6 miles wide. to put that into perspective the island of manhattan is 2.3 miles at its wieftd point it has been upgraded with winds that reached 295 miles her hour. 19 deaths were blamed on the storm. for more on the weather now, we are joined by nbc's bill kerry. we saw an ef-4 and one so close together. bill karins. >> now, we are realizing why they got caught. why lives were lost of those storm chasers. they were actually putting probes down to measure the tornado. it was the main one and there were satellite tornado rotating around. most likely those caught them
