jimmy fallon. good morning. we begin with the latest in the phone log controversy. this morning, reports it's not just phones. an article in the washington post says they are tapping into the biggest internet companies. sites like google, facebook and apple are said to be part of a secret program called prism. call logs are being kept in national agency computers. the government has access to times of calls and duration, not names and recordings unless they suspect a threat. the obama administration is getting support from unlikely lawmakers. >> within the last few years, this program was used to stop a program, excuse me, stop a terrorist attack in the united states. >> it doesn't bathother me one for them to have my phone

chris christie picked one to hold the vacant seat. he accepted the nomination with a text from the governor saying quote, i'm in. michele bachmann isn't seeking re-election next year. don't think you can get rid of her that quickly. she gave the first interview last night since announcing the decision not to run. >> i'm not retiring. i'm not going silent. i'm not quitting my public involvement. in fact, i may run for another public office. the majority of americans support federal recognition of same-sex marriages. 60% say the issue should be decided by the states, not washington. the supreme court is set to rule on two gay marriage cases later this month. >> harsh language for the white house. in an op-ed, the obama

administration and some of the top leadership in congress have remained mum on the subject. as you mentioned, protecting americans. >> in a scathing editorial in the new york times, the paper wrote the obama administration lost all credibility. do you think the public feels the same way? >> it's too early to tell on this issue. either way, you can no doubt bet some of the conservatives and "the new york times" are going to try to link it to a larger narrative of big brother government overreach. as we head into the midterm elections, it's bad news for democrats. president obama will be in california touting his health care reform law. polls show the public support for that is down. does it seem like the white house has a pr problem when it comes to obama care? >> they haven't gotten ahead of the narrative. they have been on defense. what's interesting is as the irs
