candidate. he says he sent a woman sexually explicit photos and messages as recently as last summer. that is more than a year after he resigned from congress for the same behavior. in a news conference, weiner apologized but with his wife by his side, he vowed to stay in the race. >> while some of the things posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what i did was wrong. this behavior that i did was problematic to say the least, destructive to say the most. caused many stresses and strains in my marriage. but i'm pleased and blessed she has given me a second chance. >> it took a lot of work and a whole lot of therapy to get to a place where i know the real anthony. it was not an easy choice in any way.

pounds and they have calfs the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert. >> as you can imagine, sharp comments. eric cantor is trying to offer a path of citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the united states as children. he says, i strongly disagree with his characterization of the children of immigrants and find the comments inexcusable. and john boehner called his language wrong and hateful. federal investigators have launched a full investigation to try to figure out what cause the landing gear to fail on a southwest flight earlier this week in new york. meanwhile, we're hearing more about those terrifying moments inside the plane. nbc's katie tur has that story.

>> reporter: the 737 approached laguardia's runway four with no indication that anything was wrong. but moments later, passengers felt the jolt as the plane's nose slammed to the ground, flames shooting from the fuselage. it was all caught on camera from his window seat. >> it knocked the camera out of my hand that we hit so hard. you can see me looking around. i'm like what in the world happened? >> reporter: flight attendants urged start willed passengers to stay in their seats. >> we're not. there you need to take your seat. >> i don't think we're going anywhere because the engine is on the ground. >> reporter: air traffic controllers urgently sent help. flight 345's emergency doors still shut, the cabin quickly filled with smoke. minutes passed before all 150 onboard were evacuated. >> and the smoke started filling the cabin. that was the scariest part. everyone's going to think -- you see smoke there is a fire. >> reporter: passengers on a

nearby plane saw the whole thing unfold. >> will is just this fireball going down the runway. >> reporter: the plane's black boxes have arrived at the ntsb's lab in washington. investigators want to know when things went wrong before or during landing. the plane a boeing 737-700 delivered to southwest in 1999 is not considered old by industry standards. >> that was katie tur reporting. prince william says he and kate are still working on a name for the royal baby. but the world did get its first glimpse at the prince of cambridge after a long day of privacy in the hospital. nbc's jim maceda is live outside buckingham palace. has the commotion after we've seen this royal trio calmed down at all there? >> well, yes, it has. things have calmed down. they're getting back to normal here at buckle ham palace which means a steady stream of tourists and occasional police ambulance going by behind me.

the long lines we saw trying to take a photo, sometimes two or three hours long of the -- just the birth certificate are gone. so is that famous easel. and, of course, the world has seen something much better than that. the royal baby himself who made that first appearance yesterday with kate and william, his parents, outside the same london hospital where william was born and posed with his parents diana and charles 31 years ago. despite the hundreds of cameras and screaming well wishers, both are pretty relaxed, even exchanged pleasantries with reporters. >> he's a big boy. he's quite heavy. and we're still working on a name. so we'll have that as soon as we can. but first time we've seen him really. i think we'll have a chance to capture. >> it's such a special time. i think any parent knows what this feeling is like. >> very special. >> the new royal family spent the first night together at

january 1st of 2014 that no one can be denied health insurance and penalized for having a pre-existing condition. and he's been out of politics for more than two years. former indiana democratic senator evan bayh has a bigger campaign war chest than 98 of the current 100 senators. bloomberg reports he has $9.8 million in the campaign account. he could use the funds to run for political office once again. new revelations from missouri senator claire mccaskill. she says a lot of women were upset with her for endorsing president obama in the '08 campaign. >> i think they understand, you know, that it wasn't like i endorsed a good ole boy against her. i mean we had two historic candidates. they were both amazing. and it was a hard thing to do. >> also an admission saying she

it's day three of pope frances' visit in brazil. today he makes a stop at a rio hospital and a shrine. claudio, after the pope's car was mobbed on monday and a pipebomb discovered at that shrine we talked about earlier, any changes to security? >> betty, there were no changes to the security plan nor to the schedule. the pope is still scheduled to leave by helicopter in about two hours from now heading to a city 200 miles from here. hundreds of policemen were always meant to be deployed into the town to look after the pope and the pilgrims. but, of course, there will be a more vigilant after that pipebomb was found. it will be interesting to see whether security there will be weary of what happened on monday when the crowd almost knocked the pope. it will be interesting to see whether they'll allow them to get so close to the pope, even if he says he enjoys the latin
