man. i only been here for six months. i get fan mail because like a lot of people know my situation. a a lot of people know the person that i am. and they know that the person that they trying to make me out to be i'm a not that person. so they write me and just keep me encouraged telling me keep my head up and telling me to hang on. and that is is the only respect i got from the streets. but i don't owe the streets nothing. you know. like if anything, the streets owe me because the streets got a chance to be around somebody like me. you know. >> look at that right there. >> robinson could owe decades of his life to the state prison system if he is found guilty on current charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. he already spent a total of seven years of his life in jail on various drug related charges and convictions.

for 18-year-old laney, jail is something completely new. >> i have never been to jail. i have never been to juvenile hall. driving here was probably the longest drive and walking in just having people look at me just maided me uncomfortable and i just felt leak dirty in a way. and it was very scary. i can't stop crying. i have never been in this kind of trouble before so it is new. and i don't like it. >> martin quart was just arrested at her high school and charged with drug possession. she has yet to enter a plea. >> i have been using drugs since my freshman year. for about four years.

i'm page hopkins with breaking news. law enforcement in idaho say kidnapping suspect 40-year-old james lee dimaggio was killed and 16-year-old hannah anderson found safe in idaho. dimaggio is suspected of killing 44-year-old kristina anderson and her 8-year-old

years here, not convicted of a crime, but just waiting for their cases to work their way through the courts. others may spend only a few hours or a night in jail before they were released back home. such was the case for 18-year-old laney markert, who had been arrested at her high school and charged with drug possession. >> i have never been in this kind of trouble before, so it's new and i don't like it. >> so inmate laney markert, until last night around midnight. they sign you out. you're released on your own recognizance. you sign it, saying you understand that, you've been told that, if you don't show, a judge puts a warrant out for your arrest for not showing up to court for your hearing. i wouldn't say inmate markert is scared straight. she didn't even stay one night in jail. she is going to need real help. but no matter how much we offer people, they have to want it. >> what's your name? >> laney? >> nice to meet you. >> you too.

physical, deputy beesley decides the best solution is to simply separate the women for the duration of their stays. 69-year-old angeline lizzarago says she once punched and kicked a younger inmate who was trying to intimidate her. but now says yoga is far more effective than violence when it comes to surviving jail. >> we get up at 3:00 in the morning. i make up my bed and then i pray and i do yoga for an hour and a half to two hours. >> lizzarago is nearing the end of a 2 1/2 year stay at santa rita for her part in a mortgage scam. along with quieting her mind, she's also busied her hands. >> since i was about 12 years old, my grandmother taught me how to crotchet, how to knit. so i do a lot of that stuff for
