in the cooler, george w. bush on the late night talk show circuit. lindsey vonn hurt again. and the sexiest people in tv news. and you know it's kind of a joke. i'm not on the list. but morning joe folks are. we'll have details on that. but we want to begin with the news surrounding afghanistan tho this morning. drawdown of troops was supposedly a fait accompli in 2014, but new documents obtained show the u.s. is prepared to maintain military outposts in afghanistan for years. possibly until 2024 and pay to support hundreds of thousands of security forces. the papers which have not been signed would spend billions of u.s. taxpayer dollars. the agreement would allow tu.s. to maintain a security preparse.

there are fears the u.s. exit in 2014 would leave the country susceptible to trechl errorism l into civil war. turning to obama care now, later today, the president will meet with state insurance xhe commissioners to address their concerns over the health care shift. several groups say the white house's proposal which would allow insurers to tip selling older plans that don't meet the minimum requirements of the health care law, that they would be impractical and difficult to implement. meanwhile officials say up to 40% of healthcare.gov is still being developed, but the site can now handle up to 25,000 users at one time. and even though president obama said he, quote, continue have enough awareness of the issues surrounding the website, white house officials now say he was briefed on the possible

online failures earlier in the year. yesterday the president spoke about the ongoing partisan fight over the affordable care act. >> we are going to have to, a, fix the website so everybody feels confident about that. we'll have to obviously remarket and rebrand. and that will be challenging in this political environment. i think that we probably underestimated the complexities of building out a website that needed to work the way it should. what was already going to be hard was operating within a very difficult political environment and we should have anticipated that that would create a rock r i rollout than if democrats and republicans were both invested in success. one problem is one side of capitol hill is invested in failure. >> this morning jpmorgan executives will no longer have to worry about the federal government investigating them. the bank has reached a $13

billion settlement with the justice department putting a he said to months of negotiations. the series of documents show the bank was approving loans so weak they wouldn't even qualify as subprime mortgages. those mortgages of course a critical part of the economic collapse back in 2008. jpmorgan will assume responsibility for the liabilities of washington mutual and provide $4 billion worth of aid to troubled homeowners. over the past three years, the nation's largest banks have paid out more than $86 billion worth of settlements and that includes $45 billion from bank of america, $26 billion from jpmorgan, and $9 billion from wells fargo. attorney general eric holder has indicated, though, the government's investigations into the other big banks over similar concerns is far from over. the supreme court has gelt a blow to opponents of texas' new abortion law. in a 5-4 decision, the court

ruled the state can continue to enforce the restrictions. that includes a requirement that doctors who perform abortions in clinics must have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. critics say the ruling has affected more than a third of the state's abortion clinics. wendy davis drew nationwide attention for her ten hour filibuster back in june. in a statement, she writes in part, this is an abuse of power by politicians in austin. i trust women to make their own decisions and will continue to work to make sure that women and mothers are safe and have access to adequate health care. republican governor rick perry praised the ruling say, quote, this is good news for the unborn and the women of texas who are now better protected from shoddy abortion providers operating in dangerous conditions. as always, texas will continue doing everything we can to protect the culture of life in our state. end quote.

former candidate for governor deeds recovering after his son stabbed him. it's believe gus stabbed his father multiple times at their home yesterday morning. according to police, the father managed to stagger out of the house and was spotted and picked up by a cousin and later medevacked to a hospital. state senator deeds has been upgraded to fair condition. according to the rich moppmond dispatch, just 13 hours before this incident, gus was released from a mental health facility. the order allowed deeds to be held up to four hours to determine whether he should be kept under temporary detention. but according to the paper, deeds was released because there was not an open bed in the psychiatric ward. republican congressman trey radel will be arraigned in court

this morning for alleged possession of cocaine. oous "today" citing a dea reporter bought cocaine last month from a dealer who had been previously arrested. the dealer told officials one his clients was a congressman and they set up a sting. late their day federal authorities confronted the congressman at his home. radel says he suffers from alcoholism and led him to an extremely bad choice. he says i need to get help so i can be a better man. radel says he's seeking treatment and counseling. it was a great run, but after one show, embattled toronto mayor's tv show has been canceled. ford nation made its debut monday night, it featured ford and his councilman brother addressing a allegations of alcoholism and his crack smoking. he tried to address them head on. a spokesperson for the canadian network says while the show's ratings did well, the economics
