is important for the country and that they must succeed. president bush did that with the troops when i was secretary. i did not see president obama do that. >> the deal to freeze most of iran's nuclear program has been finalized after six months of negotiations. in return, western sanctions against tehran will be lifted through june. this agreement is set to begin next monday. secretary of state, john kerry, was quick to acknowledge there is still more work to be done. >> as this agreement takes effect, we will be extraordinarily vigilant in our verification and monitoring of iran's actions. there is a lot of very difficult work ahead. there is no question about that. but on each of these critical issues, i can tell you unequivocally, the president and i are absolutely determined to lead and to succeed. >> the white house promised to

block any legislation passed by congress that would impose new action against iran. weeks before the winter olympics in sochi, russian officials have foiled another possible terrorist attack. five members of a band international militant group were arrested over the weekend. ammunition, grenades and a homemade device were found at the site of the arrest. last month, 34 people were killed during suicide bombings in southern russia. the state department has issued a travel warning to all americans planning on attending the winter games coming up next month. a series of water tests showed relief may be in sight for 300,000 people in west virginia. in words of the governor, there is light at the end of the tunnel. following a chemical spill that contaminated their water supply, nine counties remain under a state of emergency and are banned from using tap water. about 7500 gallons of chemical leaked in. up to 1,000 people have reported symptoms of that exposure. >> it is an industrial chemical.

not a lot of human testing is gone. it is very important to not play down the concerns of this, both short-term and long-term but not play up the concerns to make people panic. >> today, a federal agency will begin to investigate the spill and why it took the company responsible for that leak hours to actually report it. for yankees third baseman, alex rodriguez, the 2014 season will be one to remember and for all the wrong reasons. on saturday, the majority of major league baseball suspension of a-rod was upheld by an arbitrator. rodriguez will now sit out, 162 of the 211 games he was initially suspended for the entire uncoming season. he will be ineligible for postseason play. he reacted through a statement that read in part, no player should have to go through what i have been dealing with. i'm exhausting all options to ensure that i get justice and that players' contracts and

let's do it the right way. sure, let's not get caught while we are doing this. >> the chairman and ceo of target also now speaking out for the first time about that massive data breach that may have affected up to 110 million customers. in an exclusive interview with cnbc's becky quick, greg stein hauf will reveal, malware was installed on target's registers. they are defending waiting the four days they did to inform customers. he said they reacted right away but first needed to investigate and prepare call centers for customer concerns. he promised to help authorities determine who was behind the breach. >> as time goes on, we are going to get down to the bottom of this. we are not going to rest until we understand what happened and how that happened. clearly, we are accountable. we are responsible but you we're going to come out at the end of this a better company and we're going to make significant changes. that's what you are doing when you go through a period like this. you have to learn from it and you have to apply those learnings and we're committed to do that.

now, on to business. stocks will open the week on the hill with mixed results following a dismal jobs report from the labor department. so far this year, all three indices are in the red. cnbc's steve sedgwick live in london. steve, what do you got? >> well, as you say, the markets took rather well last week. the fact the jobs numbers were so bad, that's because they think there is less tapering of quantitative easing. elsewhere, keep an eye on general motors. the cfo is tantalizing saying we are getting closer to resuming a dividend. there hasn't been a common stock dividend on general motors since may, 2008. they are getting closer and closer. elsewhere, very interesting report. big casinos in nevada lost a cumulative $1.35 billion in 2014. they are getting more in revenues. 5.7. they are losing mormonfully from that.

so they are making out very well in las vegas. >> we are getting the 2013 data on the airline safety record, one of the best that they have had. this is quite extraordinary. we have the best in terms of that, 265 fatalities from 29 air accidents globally is there. that trend on the fatalities is at a record low. the dates are from the transportation security administration. a nationwide increase of 20%, more firearms but less fatalities. back to you. still ahead on "way too early," the moment that had seattle seahawk fans literally shaking the earth during saturday's win over the saints and why that may be a problem for the 49ers.

peyton manning to wes welker. broncos take a 14-point lead into halftime. in the fourth, the chargers offense comes alive. philip rivers throws a 16-yard touchdown to keannan allen. a few minutes later, rivers again to alan for the score. chargers eventually cutting the broncos lead to 7. on third and 17 with three minutes to play, manning finds julius thomas wide open for the huge first down. broncos run out the clock to hang on for 24-17 victory. to the nfc matchup, 49ers and panthers, no love loss between these two teams. there were extra-curricular activities between each play. the panthers lost all momentum early on in this fourth. cam newton gets stuffed at the goal line and the niners take over just before the half. colin kaepernick finds vernon davis in the corner of the end zone. the ref calls it incompetent. check out the replay. there you go. davis drags his left foot before

going out of bounds. the call is reversed. san francisco takes a three-point lead. third quarters, niners on second and goal. kaepernick keeps it to himself for the score. check it out. the end zone there marking his superman. san francisco winning it 23-17. with that, the matchups are set for a blockbuster championship weekend. the broncos will host the patriots after tom brady beat andrew luck and the colts on saturday. the 49 head to seattle to take on russell wilson and the seahawks. to give you a sense of what the niners are up against, when they visit century field, on sunday, it got so loud that fans created an earthquake after marshawn lynch scored on a running play late in the fourth quarter. a small earthquake that registered between 1 and 2 on the richter scale. so that 12th man could certainly be a factor for next weekend. let's get a check on your weather, meteorologist, bill karins. >> you could play superman. i could see that. you could jump in the phone

lawrence and amy adams won acting awards and the film itself won best comedy. leonardo dicaprio won best actor for "the wolf of wall street." matthew mcconaughey and cate blanchett walked away with statutes. on the tv side, "breaking bad" took home best drama and bryan cranston won for best actor. robin wright took home the award for best actress in a tv drama. "brooklyn 99" may have been the surprise of the night. it won best comedy. andy sandberg, best actor in the comedy. amy po a amy poehler took the award for best actress. i want to bring in the executive producer, barry adelman, a man i call my second father. it is great to have you on. it thank you for joining me. what is it like to work with tina and amy? this was their sophomore run

"saturday night live" heritage legacy and success that goes on. we had backstage, you know we had jimmy fallon coming by, seth myers was a wrighter with tina and amy. all these people and now andy, lauren michaels was back there. it's like a reunion for "saturday night live" and it's amazing what they've created and howard how it is going to continue over the years. >> they have all launched great and interesting careers. what were some of the embarrassing moments? any embarrassing moments? by this, who would get the helmet award, which means they were probably the drunkest at the show and you couldn't take their face on camera? >> look, i don't know who is drinking or not drinking. emma thompson certainly was going for the image that she was drinking. she came out with a martini. she certainly wanted to promote
