if you're a first-timer, this is the show where we're proud to talk about international politics and we fill you in on justin bieber in the same half hour. yes. we begin this morning, new allegations of corruption from within chris christie's office. hoboken mayor dawn zimmer met with u.s. attorneys after she accused the governor's office of using hurricane sandy funds. she was told by kim o'donnell that unless she supported a real estate project in hoboken, the city would not receive federal storm aid. she spoke to steve korniaki about those allegations. >> the fact is that the lieutenant governor came to hoboken, she pulled me aside in the parking lot and she said, i know it's not right. i know these things should not be connected but they are and if you tell anyone, i'll deny it. i mean, the bottom line is it's not fair for the governor to hold sandy funds hostage for the city of hoboken because he wants
2:32 am
me to give back to one private developer. i cannot give a windfall to one property owner because the governor wants me to in exchange for the sandy funds. so i'll tell you, i feel like i'm literally between a rock and a hard place. >> why come forward now and not before now? >> i probably should have come forward then. this is probably the hardest thing that i've ever done so i probably should have come forward, but i literally -- you know, i literally feel like we -- i have to act in the best interests of hoboken. we are still at risk of not getting -- there's another tranche of funding coming through and we're not going to get it unless i move forward with the rockefeller plan. mayor zimmer said she requested $127 million of hurricane sandy funds but received just 1% of that request. the state of new jersey received a total of $14 billion in requests for the funds out of a total of 300 million available but the governor's office
2:33 am
refutes those claims that there was any political favor. the city of hoboken has received $70 million of funding. democrats in new jersey are rallying around zimmer. loretta wineberg says these disclosures are revealing ana because of government responsibility. a possible misuse of public resources and the betrayal of trust. it was last week that zimmer also said that she was concerned relief funds would be withheld. rudy giuliani said this is nothing more than democrats looking to hurt the potential 2016 run for president. >> he should not be handling this investigation. it gives it no essentially credibility and it clearly is a partisan witch hunt. clearly this is a very, very well orchestrated democratic organizational effort to hurt governor christie who after all
2:34 am
