inmates who behave badly are sent to the administrative segregation unit. >> segregation is an area we have 200 inmates. all these inmates are individually celled and all here because they broke a rule here in prison. >> human contact in segregation is limited and interaction with others is minimum. this can take its toll on an inmate physically and mentally. >> they have been in single cells for a long time. they build up hostilities. it's a highly explosive area. >> i did not do what they said i did. [ bleep ] [ bleep ] [ bleep ]. >> right now! >> it's another typical day. it's part of it. >> these officers work here on a

daily basis, they deal with these inmates and you build up a relationship with these inmates. some are good, some are not so good. >> most people say when i started i wouldn't make it three days. so i had a point to prove and i proved it. then they said i wouldn't make sergeant and if i did, i wouldn't be successful. i made another point and i proved it. everything about it is a challenge. it's not a normal job where you learn something and do it. nothing is ever the same. you make a decision today for one incident. tomorrow may be the same incident, but you have to make a

allen clark has been transferred to holman and hasn't formed any friendships with the inmates there. but does have a relationship on the outside. >> for 15 years i didn't have anybody to come see me, write me or anything like this. and then came [ bleep ]. she is, she is a darling. you snow she is, she is, she is the love of my life. i miss her something terrible. you just wouldn't believe. i really miss her. last year, and in september, i became real sick. i had been sick all that day. when i got to the infirmary. they took my blood pressure and fund that it was real, real low. and, they rushed me to the emergency room. but, i met a nurse there.

and when she walked into the room, and she made eye contact. i knew she was going to be my girl. you know. when we started seeing each other. i said, i have life without parole. i may not ever get out. and she told me, she says, you let me worry about that. finally, down in the visiting yard up here. she come to see me. i got down on my knee. i asked her would you marry me? she said yes. i said okay i will put in a request for marriage. so i did. as the it stands. last count. the chaplain said i was ninth in line. >> alan must wait on letters. before he opens his mail it must

undergo a screening process. >> good morning, holman mail room. if it doesn't have dorm numbers. s numbers. can't have it. doesn't have a name on the return address. they can't have it. doesn't have a return address at all. they can't have it. they're not allowed to have any kind of nude pictures. pictures that are sexually explicit. that's not allowed. when i was going through the mail, i, i was looking at the envelope. and i notice it was like a big sticker. i took the letter opener. peeled it. and when i did. nude picture. i was like, okay, well that's rejected. at first, i was like, okay. the nudity pictures, now it really don't bother me.

i am used to it. it is like a normal routine. i go through it. okay. reject it. we had one woman, three weeks in a row, purposely hid her nude pictures behind card. open them, glue them down. paste them behind pictures of her children. that, that's a great one. i love that one. she kept doing that. i mean it was every day. i was opening them. i took it to the warden. and he, he banned her from corresponding for 90 days with him. she has to write for per motion to start writing him again. he took away visitation rights. when it goes to the extreme measure. they learn, i can't do this. can't get it by. they let ate len. don't do it too much any more. >> we are in the room. waiting on your arrival.

i hit his arm. he told me then he would get me. this particular day, tear response mosley, he threw the tray in my face. so i guess today he got me. >> what started as an obsession with sergeant banks escalated into a grudge match between terrence moseley and officer montgomery. >> i don't know what to do with terrence mosley, he has been a problem. he got to officers on the third shift. same way with you. you had a problem with him before. i don't know what the solution is, for that individual. if we can find any way to get him to start complying with the rules and quit being such a troublemaker. we are past the day where we can roll the door. we have to find ways to get him to comply.

concerning you getting married. i called her. and i was talking to her the she sounded pretty upset. and, i had asked her if she was still interested in getting married. she said, married? i said, yeah, alan has been wanting to get married for a while i understand it. i want to see if you guys would look to get married. she said, in emphatic terms, absolutely not. so i don't know -- all that sits. apparently she is upset. did you know she didn't want to get married? >> yeah, she is the one that asked me. you know what i am saying. she told me to put in the application for the marriage. that's the reason why i come to you and asked you about, about, going about getting married. >> what do you think changed her mind? >> i have no idea. >> she is, noticing, noticeably
