wipe that sleep out of your eyes, i'm thomas roberts, it's monday, february 3rd, welcome to "way too early," the show that's considering replacing our bill karins with a 20-pound rodent that sees the future. let it sink over you. there you go. let it percolate. there you go. first, it wasn't even close, though, the seahawks dominated the broncos to nab their first ever super bowl title. what a match-up this wasn't. there are new pictures overnight of the celebrations in seattle. the party's been going on there for hours. after the seahawks jumped to an early lead, they never looked back. the nfl's top-rated defense shut down peyton manning in the league leading offense. the final was one of the most lopsided super bowl history making events. complete highlights coming your way in sports. and now the tragic news concerning actor phillip seymour hoffman. he was found in his new york city apartment of what police are calling an apparent drug overdose. his films, too numerous to name,

he was nominated for oscars for his performances in dramas like ""charlie wilson's war," "doubt," and "the master." a role that earned him the academy award for best actor. and he was as comfortable on the stage as he was on the screen drawing rave reviews in "death of a salesman." but marked by bouts of alcohol and drug dependence and his struggle to get sober at a very young age. >> i got sober -- i was 22. yeah. >> so this was drugs or alcohol or both? >> yeah. all. all that stuff. yeah. anything i could get my hands on. yeah. yeah. i liked it all. yeah. >> and why did you decide to stop? >> you get panicked.

you get panicked. it was -- i was 22 and i got panicked for my life. it really was. it was just that. >> so he claimed to be clean for years but reportedly went through a stint in rehab last year. hoffman was found unconscious in his apartment with small bags of what is believed to be heroin nearby and a needle in his arm. a family statement says we are devastated by the loss of our beloved phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. phillip seymour hoffman was 46 years old. we wanted to figure out your thoughts about the passing of phillip seymour hoffman. which of his movies and roles stand out to you. tweet us using the #waytooearly. we'll read some of the responses later on in the show. >> the super bowl, it was supposed to be chris christie and new jersey's coming out party, but the latest accusations he did know something about the closure on the lanes of the george washington bridge. a small crowd jeered the

governor at an event saturday. but david wildstein, in a recent letter from his attorney claims evidence exists that the governor knew of the lane closures. after a measured response on friday, the governor's office came out with a stinging letter claimed sloppy reporting on the part of the "new york times" and the e-mail goes on to attack wildstein personally. claiming he created a, quote, culture of fear before the port authority. even dug into his personal history in high school alleging he sued over a local school board election at the age of 16. he claims he also publicly accused his social study teacher of deceptive behavior. and the e-mail concludes, quote, bottom line, david wildstein will do and say anything to save david wildstein. also, over the weekend, christina renna, a staffer resigned.

there are new details in the allegations of child molestation against woody allen. accused the film maker of molesting her more than 20 years ago in 1993. however, it wasn't until after alle allen's recent award at the golden globes that farrow felt compelled to speak out publicly. in her own words published on his blog a letter she wrote about the allegations. now, in part, farrow writes, what's your favorite woody allen movie? before you answer, you should know, woody allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim closet like attic on the second floor of our house, told me to lay on my stomach and then sexually assaulted me. what if it had been your child? what if it had been you, emma stone or you, scarlet jo hanson?

the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse. now, in publishing this letter, christophe acknowledges allen was never prosecuted in this case and denied wrong doing saying he deserves the resumption of innocence. a representative of woody allen saying in part, quote, mr. allen read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful, he'll be responding very soon. for two of the world's closest allies, the u.s. and israel seem to have issues recently. dealing with the middle east peace process. on saturday, secretary of state kerry discussed the possibility that israel would face a boycott campaign if peace talks failed. he also said the status quo was illusionary and in his words momentary. israeli leaders calling the comments unfair and offensive and benjamin netanyahu said attempts to impose a boycott on the state of israel are immoral and unjust. moreover, they will not achieve

their goal. the state department spokesperson says kerry's comments were taken out of context, insisting he was always opposed to boycott threats. kerry and the prime minister spoke by telephone late last night where they reportedly discussed a framework deal to bring the palestinians and israelis to the negotiating table. all right. we switch gears now to talk about business news. investors will look to steer the market in the right direction today after closing off one of the worst months for u.s. stocks in over a year. live in london for us. good morning. what are we watching? >> hey, good morning to you. well, it's been a rough start here in europe. and that follows on from a weak close. obviously in the u.s. on friday. and all of this is really about emerging market concerns. the emerging markets have taken badly to the fed tapering program. the reduction in bond buying, of course, a natural result of a growing economy in the united states. but that tightening of liquidity is starting to have an impact on some of the emerging markets.

and that in a sense is rebounding on our own developed world markets. that's why the state is weaker. that's why it's a little rough here. so january wasn't a great month, the worst month since may 2012 for u.s. indices with the dow finishing down over 5%, the s&p finishing nearly 3.6% lower on the month. moving you along, fascinating story here, but not a great story for cleveland. 470 jobs expected to go here as united continental said it intends to shutter some of the activities in the cleveland hub. they say there isn't the business demand for them to maintain services at the previous level. they say they've been losing millions of dollars over recent years as a result of reduced business activity at the cleveland hub. back to you. >> explain what at&t, their strategy in the new year to try to make this play for new customers, wireless customers. >> yeah. well, this is going to be a good story for every consumer of

>> tails. >> now, joe. >> he's a little too warm with that fur coat. didn't know what was going on. too anxious to get that show started which was almost as embarrassing as that fur coat which needs its own twitter handle. now to the game, things started off rough for the broncos. broncos fall on the ball and minimize the damage to a safety. but with the quickest score in super bowl history just 12 seconds in, seahawks take a 2-0 lead. trailing 8-0, manning tries to get something started when he's picked off over the middle after one quarter of play, denver produces just 11 yards of offense. second quarter, broncos trailing 15-0, manning back to pass, but gets hit on the release and intercepted once again. this time malcolm smith takes it back for a pick six, seahawks take a 22-0 lead and get the ball back after halftime. >> it's harvin, but now he takes

off and percy harvin gets -- inside the 30! he's going to go! touchdown, seattle! >> percy harvin basically with a jet pack on was limited to just 19 plays during the regular season opens up the second half with a kickoff return for a touchdown dashing any hope of a denver comeback. seahawks quarterback russell wilson finds curse who takes it 23 yards. look at that. manning would eventually throw for a late touchdown, but a little too late. and the seattle seahawks are your super bowl champs 43-8. after the game, manning was asked if he was a little embarrassed because of this lopsided loss. take a listen. >> it's not embarrassing at all. it's -- i would never use that word. as a lot of professional football players in that room, the locker room that put a lot of hard work and effort into --
