categorized by their behavior. the best behaved are in the honor dorm. inmates who behave badly are sent to the administrative segregation unit. >> segregation is an area we have 200 inmates. all these inmates are individually celled and all here because they broke a rule here in prison. >> human contact in segregation is limited and interaction with others is minimum. this can take its toll on an inmate physically and mentally. >> you have got a lot of inmates back there in single cells for a long time. and they of course build up hostilities. it is a highly explosive area. >> i did not do what they said i did. >> these officers work here on a daily basis, they deal with these inmates and you build up a relationship with these inmates. some are good, some are not so good. >> most people say when i started i wouldn't make it three days. so i had a point to prove and i proved it. then they said i wouldn't make sergeant and if i did, i wouldn't be successful. i made another point and i proved it. everything about it is a challenge. it's not a normal job where you learn something and do it. nothing is ever the same. you make a decision today for one incident. tomorrow may be the same incident, but you have to make a

as a woman. my ex-husband was overprotective. my deceased ex-husband. he insisted on beating on me. beating me, beating me. i manipulated to get away from him. ran up to the kitchen. you know they had this knife set. the biggest handle that i seen, i grabbed it and i ran outside. he was standing there. i just stabbed him. he fell. i stabbed him again. they grabbed me. i was covered in blood. they called the police. i still had the knife in my hand. they came. they retrieved the knife. and -- handcuffed me.

hour of rec time a day. with few opportunities to communicate with one another the inmates invent ingenious ways to have conversations with their friend. allen clark has been transferred to holman and hasn't formed any friendships with the inmates there. but does have a relationship on the outside. >> for 15 years i didn't have anybody to come see me, write me or anything like this. and then came [ bleep ]. she is, she is a darling. she is the love of my life. i miss her something terrible. you just wouldn't believe. i really miss her. last year, and in september, i became real sick. i had been sick all that day. when i got to the infirmary. they took my blood pressure and

found that it was real, real low. and they rushed me to the emergency room. but, i met a nurse there. and when she walked into the room, and she made eye contact. i knew she was going to be my girl. you know. when we started seeing each other. i said, i have life without parole. i may not ever get out. and she told me, she says, you let me worry about that. finally one day on the visiting yard up here when she came to see me i got down on my knee and i asked her will you marry me? and she says yes. so i yesterday okay, then, i'll put in a request for a marriage. so i did. and as it stands right now, at

it. and when i did, nude picture. i was like okay, well, that is rejected. at first, i was like, okay. the nudity pictures, now it really don't bother me. i am used to it. it is like a normal routine. i go through it. okay. reject it. we had one woman, three weeks in a row, purposely hid her nude pictures behind cards. she would like open them up on the inside, glue them down, paste them behind pictures of her children. that, that's a great one. i love that one. she kept doing that. i mean it was every day. i was opening them. i took it to the warden. and he, he banned her from corresponding for 90 days with him. she has to write for permission to start writing him again. and he also took away visitation rights. when it goes to the extreme

>> the reason he did this was on a particular day, sergeant banks and myself were on roll call and he was masturbating. i had to use force with the b a aton, i hit his arm. he told me then he would get me. this particular day, tear -- terrance mosley, he threw the tray in my face. so i guess today he got me. >> what started as an obsession with sergeant banks escalated into a grudge match between terrence moseley and officer montgomery. i know you had problems with him before. i don't know what the solution is with that individual, he has been a problem.

terrence mosley, he has been a problem. he got to officers on the third shift. same way with you. you had a problem with him before. i don't know what the solution is, for that individual. if we can find any way to get him to start complying with the rules and quit being such a troublemaker. we are past the day where we can roll the door. we have to find ways to get him to comply. hope for the best. hopeful he come around the i -- hopefully he will come around. i don't see the hope for it right now. while officers hope to change his behavior for the best, another inmate's future may have taken a turn for the worse. >> alan clark is in lockup. an inmate we will go see. he didn't know whether his fiancee was going to marry him or not. he was under the impression that, they were okay. but apparently she hadn't returned any letters when he had written her. so, apparently there was something wrong. he had me call her, to find out if they still wanted to get married. alan. have you got a second? you know what this is about, have you had an opportunity to talk to [ bleep ].

inmate marian dent has been sent to the hospital for hitting on the wrong man. >> i had it in my mind. i wasn't going to go back to the street any more. my way of getting me a friend. then i started messing with homosexuals and things because they were taking the place of a female. >> marion's attempt with making contact with prospective partners hasn't gone as planned. >> i heard he was offering homosexual activity. i wanted to talk to him about that. you know what i am saying. the man took one blow and knocked me out. and then -- i, i, in the incident down there in one cell. i got stabbed up down there. oh, yeah. another inmate hit me in the head with a lock.

when the fellow hit me in the head with a lock, i got stabbed. and the good lord woke me up and told me, don't you think that is enough. give the lord one just minute. you don't get one second of your time. you don't know what you might be missing. so i am going to start going to church. i started getting off into christianity studies, stuff like that. and i kind of started liking it. >> with marion becoming more and more involved in the church he decided it was time to make a real commitment to the lord and get baptized. >> marion if you would stand up here. turn around.
