minister issued an arrest warrant where the nation's former president, viktor yanukovych fled the country. his whereabouts are unknown. he's still the acting president of the ukraine. meanwhile, parliament took emergency action restoring the government and giving its new speaker the power of acting president. the country's military has vowed to stand by and support the new government. joining us live from london, nbc news correspondent aymen mohyeldin. >> yeah, that's one way of putting it. talk about a fall from grace. the president was in full control of the country 72 hours ago, now he's a wanted man. they issued the arrest warrant for him late yesterday afternoon. his whereabouts at this point remain -- excuse me, remain unknown, but more importantly, earlier on saturday he tried to

escape the country according to ukraine yan police forces that suggested he had presidential plane that was en route to russia that was prevented from leaving the country. more importantly right now, it's all about russia. the entire country is watching to see what russia december now that the olympics have wrapped up. there are some indications that the southern part of the country that is ethnically russian, a lot of the governments are calling on the russian government to intervene and send troops to protect that part of the ukraine. that has people worried that ukraine could be splintering. they've appointed a new interim president. they're trying to fill the other cabinet positions and say ukraine will remain a single solidified country, they don't want to see it split. there are growing concerns among the eastern part of the country that in fact there is this tension brewing between the ethnic russian community and the rest of the country. >> aymen mohyeldin is reporting

for us. the olympics, russia wrapped up the most expensive games ever. during the ceremony, performers poked fun at a mishappen that happened at the opening ceremonies recry creating that ring that did not open during the actual ceremonies. they paused briefly before expaptding into a full circle. sochi's bear mascot blew out the flame and drew a single tear. homeland security is pushing to extra diet the world's most wanted drug lortd after u.s. and mexican authorities teemed up over the weekend to track him down. while guzman is the notorious card tell leader, they say wire taps helped lead authorities to their man. they're urging mexico to extra

flake tweeted i hope governor brewer vetoes sb 1662. jan brewer has not said whether she will sign the bill or veto it. they say it protects business owners' religious beliefs. critics say it's a right to discriminate. governor scott walker is in washington for meetings, but it's an e-mail controversy back in wisconsin that's drawing a lot of tension. the recent release of 25,000 pages of e-mails is simply old news that related to an investigation when he was a county executive. the e-mails suggest that walker knew of a secret e-mail system that was used to avoid public scrutiny. he declined to talk about it. >> you had a democratic district attorney spend three years looking at those communications, interviewing people, talked to

provider in north america, no terms on this deal. we don't know what netflix is paying but for the 44 million netflix subscribers, this is good news. moving on, it's an act jekt fbj failure of strategy. nokia edge is released. this is an android software clone. nokia is bought by microsoft. a number of strategists are saying it's because they can't make the microsoft software work properly so the nokia x will be coming out soon. 89 euros for that hand set and of course that charge may change depending on who your mobile service provider is. >> jeff, we're still living through the winter weather. we won't have a final tally but just how much has weather impacted a ripple effect for the

openly gay player to play in the nba. he revealed that he was gay but remained without a team until signing a 10 day contract with brooklyn over the weekend. nets owner mikhail prokarof is an outspoken opponent. he ran against vladimir putin in 2012. the nets hope collins will adebayor some size to their lineup. they currently sit in eighth in final playoff spot in the eastern conference. the nets won last night. over to indianapolis for a look at the nfl combine. michael sam is expected to be picked somewhere in the middle rounds of may's draft. although no team asked about his sexual orientation during workouts. it was the too much pick of conversation during yesterday's media interviews. >> i wish you guys would say, michael sam, how's football going? how's training going? i would love for you to ask me that question. but it is what it is. i just wish you guys will see me as michael sam the football

olympics. canada finished it with staggering stats allowing three goals over six games. the u.s. slid to gold? bobsledding. the 2010 four-man champion won his third career medal tying the most by any u.s. bobsledder and gave the u.s. six sliding medals at sochi. now as we take a peak at the final overall medal count. russia finished with more total medals and more gold medals than anybody else. norway finished and the u.s. was second on the overall medal. 28, nine of them gold. canada and netherlands round out the top five. we move in to fill you in on college hockey. the best action was behind the bench. check out these two mini north dakota fans. the little guy on the right is picking his nose going down there burying a finger, the one on the left is sucking the

so at the top of the show we talked about the conclusion of the sochi winter olympic games. if you want to sound smart today tell your friends while the u.s. placed second in the medal count, the 12 bronze medals was the most. only two americans won multiple medals. meryl davis and charlie white won bronze in the team competition and then the record-breaking gold in ice dancing. if you haven't heard, it is premiere night for seth myers on late night. the show may be a little different with myers in the hosting chair. unlike his predecessor, jimmy fallon, myers doesn't sing or do many impressions. outsiders expect him to work off loose headlines and guest segments. the snl alumnist will welcome
