to determining the pat of the missing passengers and crew. investigators are now considering the possibility of mechanical failure while expanding their search for the missing plane. there's confusion over the jet's flight pattern right before ground control lost contact with the pilots. the malaysian military official was xwoetd kwoetd in the newspaper as saying the air force believed the jet abruptly changes position crossing back over the mainland of malaysia, heading into the strait of malack. that same official is now denying the report in the newspaper. well, a very public feud is brewing between congress and the cia amid allegations that the agency speed on senate computers. senate intelligence committee chairwoman feinstein says classified documents were taken during an investigation into interrogation policies. the democrat who has been one of the intelligence community's fiercest supporters fiercely alleged surveillance as an abuse of the separation of powers. >> the cia did not ask the

committee or staff if the committee had access to the internal review or how we obtained it. instead the cia just went and searched the committee's computers. i have asked for an apology and a recognition that this cia search of computers used by its oversight committee was inappropriate. i have received neither. >> but just hours later cia director john brennan insisted to nbc's andrea mitchell that the agency did no such thing. >> as far as the allegations of, you know, cia hacking senate computers, nothing could be further from the truth. we wouldn't do that. that's -- that's just beyond the scope of reason in terms of what -- >> she said -- >> the white house says it has confidence in the director of the cia. in florida the anti-obama care republican congressional candidate has won a special key

election. the race has been used as a test case for midterm cycles yet to come. david jolly won against alex sink. the clearwater-st. petersburg area is a test area. obama did carry the drnkt two times. it's being called one of the most expensive this cycle. outside spending more than doubled candidate spending, and the outside interests often overshadowed the candidates themselves, but last night a raucus crowd congratulated jolly. bob barker even announced him by video. jolly, who was a former lobbyist, called for unity after a hard fought, often nasty race where committee and super pac ads some true and some -- saturated the airwaves. >> i have very good news tonight. no more commercials. >> i have believed from the very

beginning that this is a pineliss county race. we've talked about it. for months that's been a guiding principle to me. this race has always been personal to me, not political. >> no more commercials was a good line. less than eight months to go new polling data suggests an uphill battle for president obama and the democratic party. according to nbc news and the "wall street journal" president obama's approval rating dropped to a personal low. 41%. more americans say their vote this november will signal their opposition to the president rather than their support. just 26% say they are more likely to embrace candidates who back president obama. 48% say support of the president will have opposite affect. president obama still has higher favorability than either party. 45% of voters have been unfavorable view of the gop, and 35% view democrats unfavorably. voters are sflit on who they want controlling congress. the republicans holding a slight

one point lead. 44% to 43%. well, sign-ups for obama care had a disappointing february. the department of health and human services announced fewer than a million signed up last month. well off the projected number and down from january. as of the beginning of this month, some 4.2 million people have enrolled. analysts believe as many as 20% of them haven't paid their first month's premium. health care.gov saw a jolt in traffic from president obama's mock interview with actor zach galafanokis. many republicans said they weren't impressed. some observers commented they thought it was beneath the office of the president. the white house says it's willing to get creative to reach those in need of health care. >> the president's interview with zach on "between two ferns" was designed to reach americans where they live, and they watch this show in huge numbers. gone are the days when your

broadcasts or yours or yours can reach everybody that we need to reach. >> you meet with zach and all your problems are solved? >> that's not what i said. you have to really watch the other ones to completes get the humor in it. it's also touting the fact that the website that hosted the video was the top to referrer to the website. mike huckabee says he thinks he knows how republicans can win. if the democratic candidate is hillary clinton. he tells the new republican, "i've twice run against women opponents. it's a very different kind of approach. for those of us who have some chiflry left, there's a level of respect. you treat some things as a special treasure. you treat others things as common. a male opponent is common. a woman requires a sense of pedestal." huckabee, faced criticism for saying democrats didn't believe women could control their libedo, doubled down on his

remarks in the new republic. he said in a statement, "i believe in equality, and i have a record of transforming that belief into action. however, equality doesn't mean sameness. i would seek to treat a female opponent with the same respect i give to all women, even though we may disagree on the issues." huckabee says he won't decide on whether to run until after the midterm elections. the head of ukraine's new government in washington today seeking aid and support for his country surgeoned a deep growing pain. he took over after the fall of the pro-russian government last month. the trip is also part photo op to stick a thumb in the eye of moscow, and it comes as he may succeed the rest of the ukraine. president obama has called the move unconstitutional. so far he has not been able to pressure russia to remove troops out of the region. now the u.s. and e.u. are said to be -- a wave of sanctions against the kremlin. sfwlirchlg the problem for general motors are bouncing

after the automaker recalled 1.6 million cars. the justice department is now looking into whether the company broke the law by waiting years to disclose the cars had faulty ignition switches. officials also want to know if gm lied to regulators, and democratic senator jay rockefeller, the chairman of the senate and congress committee is planning hearings on why the carmaker didn't issue the recall sooner. shares of gm plunged 5% yet on the news of these investigations. 12 deaths have been linked to the defect. now let's turn to business. international concerns continue to impact the markets with all three inteks down over where heed's trade. cnbc's jeffrey cutmore is live in london with us. weave definitely hit a bump in the road here. >> absolutely. we are tregd water on the european session so far, and i think it's not going to be a very exciting open in the states unless we get some breakthrough on some stories before your open here. the market is still a little ragged around the chinese data

over the weekend. they're not happy about that. it's about the banking system and crimea is keeping people focused on potential joo political issues. that's the market for you. this is a fascinating story here. it looks like the president is going to use his veto to try and force companies to pay millions of americans working in the fast food industry overtime pay. you'll know there's been this long running issue as to the way companies are designating employees and using a loophole to get out of paying overtime. the president saying this is this has got to stop. we want these people to be paid what they're due. this is going to set the president up for a clash in congress with the republicans who already are very unhappy with the increase in the minimum federal wage the president has already set out here. that's another fascinating story, i think. not so much market-focused, but it is a slow burner that will keep people watching the u.s. recovery.

catch a lot of people by surprise. chicago is not fun this morning. chicago has heavy heavy snow, and it is windy out there. horrible morning commute. a lot of schools will be canceled. detroit, same for you. we have blizzard warnings in effect for buffalo. he think it's one of the first blizzard warnings of the weren't season for buffalo, and all of northern new england is just cringing at what's going to happen tonight. here's the heavy snow over chicago. it's now praegd spraeg over northern indiana. all of southern michigan is getting the snow. it's now snowing in detroit. toledo. we're talking heavy snow. 12 to 18 inches in northern new england. buffalo, 10 to 14. we're not going so see a lot from new york city. it will be rainy and wet and then we're going to get a flash freeze tomorrow morning that could have slick spots. even detroit four to eight. cleveland three to six, and albany three to six. hope you enjoy the 70 in d.c. tomorrow about 50 degrees colder with wind chill. coming up on "morning joe" it's only a simple congressional race in florida, but we'll dig into why the republican win may be a
