we'll talk about lewis coming up. now about 20 aircraft and ships are back out at this this morning on the 24th day of the search for flight 370. more than 100 crew members trying to spot debris from the skies while another 1,000 say alreadies are scanning the sea. it's unfolding in the indian ocean across a search area the size of po land. it is a race against the clock as crews work to find the plane's black box before the battery life runs out. >> the "ocean shield" has been equipped with a high-tech black box locater. he was earlier today prime minister spoke about if and when they would scale back the search for flight 370. >> if nothing of substance is found, obviously such a point is eventually reached, but we are well, well short of that point. so if this mystery is solved, we will solve it.

but i don't want to underestimate how difficult it is. >> back here at home it's been more than a week since the deadly mud slide in washington state. even though the death toll is continuing to rise. officials are holding out hope for good news. 21 people have been confirmed dead. search crews four other bodies have been located but not identified yet. the number of people missing has been lowered to 30. crews are expected to have dry weather the next three days. it should help the operation. governor jay said those searching for survivors refuse to give up. >> we are hoping for a miracle, and more importantly, we're working for a miracle. we're doing everything humanly possible, if that opportunity exists. these searchers, both professionals and volunteers are performing heerk leon tasks right now. they are working beyond the point of exhaustion. we intend to look for the

miracle. >> he promised a full investigation whether the state failed to address a 1999 report that warned of a disaster like this was possible. he said for now officials remain focussed on the work at the disaster site. today marks the deadline to enroll in health care coverage under the aca. the website saw record traffic over the weekend with some 2 million visitors and call centers fielding a sem surge of calls 380,000, to be exact. last week's activity, according to the administration, was more than the entire month of february. democrats took to social media to send out photographs of long lines at enrollment events like in in nevada. we don't know exactly how many actually paid for coverage, the most recent numbers put enrollment north of 6 million. that's a figure some republicans are questioning. >> how much does this 6 million number actually mean? >> i don't think it means anything. i think they are cooking the books.

people want to know the answer to that. we want to know once it is said and done, what kind of insurance will those people actually have? >> the u.s. and russia remain far apart on reaching a solution to the crisis in ukraine. the two sides are talking. secretary of state john kerry and the russian foreign minister spent four houses meeting face to face. they appear to have differing views. saying ukraine cannot survive by itself. secretary kerry said any agreement must respect that ukraine has a legitimate government and shouldn't be allowed to make the own discussions. he issued a stern warning about the russian troops that dissendsed on the border near ukraine. >> any real progress in ukraine must include a pull-back of the very large russian force that is currently massing along ukraine's borders. we believe that these forces are creating a climate of fear and

welcome back, everybody. at the top of the show we talked about the missing malaysian flight 370. the black box recorders that have pingers that broadcast a signal for 30 to 40 days. some are saying it could last a few weeks longer because the water conditions. beginning in 2015 they will mandate that they need to last up to 90 days now.
