of south korea where a ferry sank two days ago. search and rescue is under way of the 170 passengers, mostly high school students, who are still missing. at least 25 people have been confirmed dead. with hopes of survivors fading, families of those missing frantically wait for any word on their loved ones. their frustrations mounting. meanwhile, this dramatic amateur video has emerged, showing passengers in life jackets inside the tilting ferry, delaying evacuation. announcement can be heard telling passengers not to move and to stay in place. the investigation has revealed that almost none of the ship's lifeboats were deployed even though one apparently carried the ship's captain to safety. covering his face, he apologized to the victims and their families saying, quote, i am so sorry and i am ashamed. i am at a loss for words. there are reports that the third mate could have been at the

ferry's helm when it capsized and not the captain himself. divers have begun pumping air into the ferry while a large sea crane has arrived at the site. president obama offered condolences and help to south korea yesterday. >> i just want to express, on behalf of the american people, our deepest condolences to the public of korea and the families of all those who have seen their loved ones lost when the ferry sank within the past couple of days. >> last night south korean schools held a candlelight vigil for victims while the hunt for survivors continues. at least 13 guides are dead after an early mountain avalanche swept across mt. everest. this is the first major avalanche on mt. avalanche -- that is mt. everest this

climbing season. it is home to the highest peak. thousands of climbers have scaled that summit since 1953. now to a potential diplomatic breakthrough on the crisis in ukraine after seven hours of negotiation in geneva, u.s., european union, russia struck a deal that they call a compromise of sorts. under the agreement all sides must refrain from any violence, intimidation, provocative actions and all illegal armed groups must be disarmed. president obama says he is hopeful but concerned whether russia will honor the deal. >> i think there is the possibility, the prospect that diplomacy may deescalate the situation and we may be able to move towards what happens always been our goal, which is let the ukrainians make their own decisions about their own lives. >> in another development, secretary of state john kerry confirmed that jewish residents in one eastern ukrainian city had been ordered to identify

themselves as jews. kerry said that extremism, racism and religious intolerance is unacceptable. "the new york times" reports that the group ordering the identification denies any involvement. we are learning key details about who has signed up for obamacare. among the eight state, 35% are under 45. tracie potts is in washington. good morning to you. does this announcement reflect -- >> reporter: who will turn out to the polls? republicans who are still trying to get rid of this health law or is it going to be people who signed up for insurance and people who think it's working? that's what we're waiting to see. what we know now is that about a third or just over a third of the people who signed up were

young adults. that was the tipping point to paying for all of this. republicans are saying, hold on. we don't know how many people have paid. we don't know if the coverage they have is going to cover everything. they think people may be surprised when they go visit the doctor. we don't know how many doctors may drop out of this. people may have to pay taxes if they didn't sign up. premiums may rise. there's a whole list of things that they're following. we didn't see some of the key republicans on camera after the president made that announcem t announcement. but we did hear for a spokesman from republican speaker john boehner. he said what america really needs is a health care system that is more affordable, more accessible, and of the highest quality. and that is what house republicans are working toward. bottom line, they're still trying to get rid of it. betty? >> lot going on. tracie, we appreciate it. a massive evacuation is under way at a volcano in peru.

authorities have decided it's time to move. it will take three days to move all 4,000 residents and their 30,000 animals. it's the country's most active volcano and forced a similar evacuation in 2006. agriculture minister says the people will move to an area about 12 miles away. an unidentified man has been taken into custody in kansas city in connection with a string of highway shootings. as of right now, that man is not facing any charges. investigators were seen raiding a home and hauling away a car yesterday. at least 20 different vehicles have been shot at along city roads and highways since march 8th. at least three people were hurt during those shootings but there have been no life-threatening injuries. the investigation is ongoing. listen up. astronomer's say earth's closest relative is 500 light years away.

the waiting room, huh? politico's kevin joins us. how is that for a transition? >> how are you? >> i'm doing well. the administration is feeling good. 8 million people have signed up for obamacare, 35% under the age of 35. the president called on republicans to end their quest to repeal obamacare. do you think that will happen, especially with mid terms coming up? >> no, i wouldn't hold my breath. what's interesting is that yesterday during his press conference with reporters, president barack obama did say that he thinks that democrats should offer an unwavering defense of obamacare as we head into the mid terms. he said, essentially, don't back down. so, it will be interesting to see if people's like senators kay hagan, up for a fight, to say the least, will take his lead. and heed the advice that he has

offered on obamacare. >> a new poll shows former secretary of state hillary clinton's numbers hitting the lowest people in six years. what do you attribute that to? >> she had nowhere to go but down. her approval ratings were so high during the last couple of years that i think, really, there was nowhere for her else to go but down. as we continue to get closer to 2016, even though it's a long way out and as she continues to weigh in on more partisan political issues, i think that you are going to see perhaps those numbers and folks in the republican party or folks who really didn't have an opinion of her necessarily when she was secretary of state, i think you will start to see those numbers go down a little bit. >> i wonder if this will affect the numbers now that chelsea has announced she is pregnant and hillary is on her way to becoming a grandmother. will that have any bearing on not only the numbers but maybe a
