unfolding off the southern coast of south korea. the death toll has surpassed 100 as the desperate search for nearly 200 continues mostly high school students. seven days into the operation, the pace of bodies being recovered has accelerated now that divers finally succeeded in entering the ferry. families waiting at port, well, they are bracing for the worst. when one father identified his 15th-year-old's body, he tried to resuscitate him, pumping his chest and blowing into his mouth, yelling at him to stop sleeping. and today one teenage girl, just 17 years old was laid to rest. south korea's president offered support for the families, criticizing the crew saying "the action of the captain and some of the crew was incomprehensible. it was like murder. it can't be tolerated." the captain and several crew members have been arrested. the cause of the crash is still being investigated. at least two american drones

assisted in strikes in yemen over the weekend. the joint operation is the most aggressive counterterrorism activity in months. u.s. counterterrorism officials tell nbc news the air strikes hit "a full-blown terrorism training camp." they praise the operations as both efficient and well done. however, they also said there was no indication that any top al qaeda leaders were killed. vice president joe biden is paying a visit to ukraine's acting president today. the vp is expected to announce new technical support so the ukrainian government can implement energy and economic reforms. biden is the highest ranking u.s. official to visit the country since the crisis with russia began. the vice president's visit comes days after an international agreement was reached to quell violence in the country. the u.s. ambassador to ukraine warned, though, yesterday that russia has day, not weeks to abide by that agreement. security questions, they are being raised after a 16-year-old from california was able to

sneak into the wheel well of a plane and end up in hawaii. airport officials in san jose are reviewing how the teen was able to slip past security on sunday. >> it appears that he may have scaled the fence line under cover of darkness and he remained undetected as he then proceeded onto the aircraft ramp. >> the fbi says the boy was actually knocked out for most of the 5 1/2-hour flight and didn't regain consciousness until after hour after the plane landed. according to the faa, there have been 105 stowaways worldwide since 1947 and 76% of them did not survive. all right. we want to switch gears because last night nbc's brian williams was a guest on "the tonight show. but before he appeared, jimmy fallon showed off his latest sma smashup with the snoop dogg classic "gin and juice."

broadcasters are bringing this to the supreme court including nbc arguing that this is piracy and a violation of copyright law. to watch the major networks you have to watch it live but now there's aereo. >> this is piracy. picking up copyrighted content that somebody else spent a lot of money to develop. >> reporter: broadcasters agree and they want the supreme court to decide. but they argue they're not stealing programming but renting thousands of antennas for consumers who decide when and what to watch. >> if they can pull this service down which is so carefully designed to be legal, you'll have a spate of lawsuits about any cloud storage of any

content. >> reporter: it's a case about money, too. broadcasters charge cable and satellite providers big bucks to rebroadcast those programs. aereo pays nothing and charges consumer as little as $8 a month. it is a case and as you said, betty, it could have far reaching implications. we're not expecting a decision on this one until the end of the term in june. >> all right. tracie potts reporting for us, thank you. some other stories making news this morning, president obama will travel to washington state this morning. he'll meet with families and first responders from that deadly landslide a month ago. so far, 41 people have been confirmed dead. two people remain missing. two men in an affluent suburb of philadelphia are accused of running a drug ring aimed at high school students. mar juan that, cocaine, ecstasy, hash oil, all sold to students at nearby high schools and colleges, according to prosecutors. the two were arraigned yesterday after a four-month investigation. all right. this is a scary scene in a salt

lake city courtroom. a u.s. marshal shot and killed a defendant after he lunged at a witness with a pen. authorities say the defendant charged the stand while the witness was testifying about gang initiation. and some incredible video out of western india this show you. people there discovered this leopard on a rooftop. watch it as it charges people before darting away. the forestry department eventually caught it and released it back into the wild. in health news, the alcohol and tobacco tax and trade bureau is taking back last week's approval of a powdered alcohol product called palcohol. according to the associated press the bureau says the approval was made in error, but a company spokesman says it's just a discrepancy with its labels and that they will be resubmitting them for approval. palcohol can be mixed with water or any liquid to create an instant alcoholic beverage is different flavors.

either you got it or you don't. >> when you don't you really don't. okay, so four years into retirement, former supreme court justice john paul stevens is really wanting to amendment the constitution. what do you think about his suggestions when it comes to gun control and state's rights because he's trying to change all that. >> well, let me praise him for a second. we could do the political analysis. he has his finger on something. many americans feel like our government is tied up in these crazy knots not able to solve some of our biggest problems, right? the gun issue is one of them. most americans think, you know, yeah, you have a right to have a weapon, a gun under the constitution but don't be crazy bit. we don't want people walking down the street with an aquality rifle and they're saying these situations aren't serving us well. >> that's the guns. what about the states' independence. >> all of it. it's -- he's playing to

something that's real. is it going to happen? no. >> but he's making us think. >> no, because think about how hard it is to change the constitution, right? you've got to ultimately get three-quarters of the state legislatures to go along. good luck on that. >> and he has seen plenty of cases that really challenge a lot of this. what about the death penalty? he's suggesting you just abolish i will together. >> again, i think increasingly americans in the polls show this have lost faith in the death penalty. they don't think it helps with crime. it ties you up in these legal knots and yet our legal system, the courts and the congress, are just -- can't get their hands around it. but is it going to happen? no. >> probably not. well, will this happen? he may get the public on board when it comes to restricting political campaign spending. that might have some support. >> well, another example, betty. the court has juice been going in the opposite direction going corporations can give more and
