former new york city mayor michael bloomberg himself on the way to tel aviv. his visit is meant to show solidari solidarity, and show it's safe. he's flying on elal, the israeli carrier. and delta will decide if they want to lift the ban. several european airlines have canceled flights. and overnight, deaths of two more israeli soldier. we are live from tel aviv. what's the latest? >> reporter: israel is furious at the travel ban by the faa, not only the american airlines stopped flying for 24 hours, but a domino affect, major european carriers, the french airlines, this isolates israel. and it's a strategic threat to israel.

first of all, it's the only international airport that israel really has operating to the center of israel, the main airport. so the very strong complaint by the israeli prime minister to the americans, calling on them to overthrow the ban on airlines flying here. meanwhile, they say the area is safe. it happened because of a rocket that fell within a mile of the airport yesterday. everyone's worried and nervous because of the malaysian airlines crash being brought down by a missile. for that, focusing the urgency on a ceasefire. no sign they are listening, and both sides seem content to continue the fighting. >> stay safe, martin. thank you. this morning, the first planes carrying the victims of mh17 are expected to arrive in the netherlands. while families and friends grieve. the world is demanding answers.

u.s. intelligence officials believe the downing of the aircraft was an accident. a plane shot down by rebels ill-trained when it comes to deadly weapons given to them by russia. i'm joined by tracie potts in washington, d.c., what can we expect to hear today? >> andy, likely more from russia saying their supporters are not involved. they're insisting that the rebels in the southern part of ukraine had nothing to do with this, but now u.s. intelligence officials say there is plenty of evidence that they did shoot down that plane. as the dutch prepare to accept 200 bodies today, the u.s. insists russians shot down the flight with a missile from russia and then bragged about it online. >> there were ample social media accounts to indicate that an sa-11 system that appeared to be missing one specific missile was

transported across the border back to russia. and media accounts of the separatists talking about it. they thought it was a mistake, they thought it was a transport plane. lawmakers in washington want to put the pressure on moscow. >> stop transferring missiles across borders and handing them to separatist or terrorist organizations. >> reporter: investigators saw the debris field for the first time tuesday. international monitors say there's no security, and it appears some of the debris was moved or altered. >> it appeared that big cone section had more on less been split into two, and also could have been changes to the tail fin as well. >> president obama signed a condolence book at the embassy of the netherlands. >> this is an opportunity for me to extend on behalf of the american people our deepest condolences. >> reporter: today the dutch begin the grueling process of identifying those who have been recovered.

and as of this morning, looks like there may be as many as 100 victims still missing. angie. >> such disheartening news for so many families. thank you. the new york man who died of an apparent choke hold at the hands of police officers will be laid to rest today. >> we're -- >> now! >> what? >> justice. >> the funeral for 43-year-old eric garner comes one day after a vigil was held in his honor. holding signs that read it ends today. he said that to police officers during his arrest attempt. nearly one week after that arrest attempt, they said every officer will be retrained on the use of force. race was not a factor, he expects the fbi who began monitoring the incident will make civil rights violations.

and spike lee edited this video, splicing footage with his 1989 film, "do the right thing," which showed a similar incident. it rattled new yorkers, and now cash is being offered for a stunning security scare. a pack of vandals scaled the brooklyn bridge, used cooking pans to cover the lights, and bleached from large american flags. they were scratching their heads, and a $5,000 reward could bring in some answers. >> there's some indication of pre-operational planning. perhaps some indication they have experience climbing in construction or bridge work. >> the 131--year-old bridge has around the clock patrols and security cameras.

two court cases are not enough for donald sterling. now a new civil suit against his wife, the l.a. clippers. and since the trust was revoked, it says he is the sole owner of the team. if sterling stays, he'll quit the team. it's kept microsoft ceo steve ballmer from buying it. and winning the senate nomination, beating out kingston. kingston and purdue were locked in a tight vote count. the former ceo of dollar general and other businesses held a lead of less than 2% of the vote. he will face democrat michelle nunn in the fall's general election. and sports, kick it off with baseball. in milwaukee, the brewers and the reds, a pair of homers get the brewers off to a 2-0 lead.

and the reds come back, after a batter is hit in the foot by a pitch in the seventh. bottom of the ninth, tied at three. the hero, solo shot into left field for the walk off homer. the brewers take it 4-3. queen elizabeth's racehorse failed a drug test following a recent race. this is true. they announced that five morphine positives were detected, including the queen's horse. initial indications say the positive results came from contaminated feed product. a sweet gesture by lebron james. sending this box of cupcakes and a note to his neighbors in akron for the excessive activity in the area. they swarmed for days after his decision to return to cleveland. >> adrian peterson, reportedly

injured after being struck by lightning tuesday on fort myers beach. 14 people in the u.s. before that had been killed by lightni lightning. florida is the lightning capital. >> lightning capital of the world, number two. that's the sixth death in florida, the five previous. i lived in florida for a while. they have support groups for lightning strike survivosurvivo. a lot of things happen to your body if you survive. the lightning strikes are dying off with the thunderstorms. overnight, as many as 900 strikes in an hour. now down. rolling through ohio and indiana. not as bad as they were. more storms. and the reason for it, we have hot conditions over much of the country. but another cool shot of air heading through the great lakes.

is it a blow to the president's plan? >> it is. not only will he not get the money, but congress will not get to this before breaking for the five week august recess. they're too far apart, house republicans and senate democrats. they have different price tags, and what should be done with current immigration policy. less than two weeks to go before they pack up and leave. some whispering to us it isn't going to be taken up until the fall. >> so ludicrous to hear. and mentioning just a few days before congress is out for the summer. they'd like to take a vacation, we have transportation, the funding of transportation, highway, another big issue. addressing these key issues or the lack thereof. this could reflect on the midterms. they have no choice. >> the things more likely to get done. you mentioned a highway bill, a short-term fix to keep it funded. the other big one? remember the problems at the department of veterans affairs
