i don't know. that sounded funny. hi, everybody. dworng, i'm thomas roberts live from baltimore. it is tuesday august 5th. welcome to way too early, the show that always responds to the call but only if you are playing the clarinet. we're going to begin with some news over the ebola virus. with another possible scare in the u.s., officials are waiting the test results for a man who showed up at manhattan's mount sign high -- sinai hospital yesterday with symptoms. officials say it's unlikely the man has the disease but he's being isolated out of an abundance of caution. the virus is only transmitted through bodly fluids not casual

contact. meanwhile, a second american is expected to arrive today. americans are concerned about patients being treated here in the u.s. one doctor, a decorated air force colonel and surgeon, says while he trusts doctors at emory hospital it was foolish to bring ebola patients to the u.s. >> they could have taken the medical equipment and the serum to africa and treat the patients there rather than bringing the patients here and potentially contaminating continental u.s. even though the risk is minuscule. >> since last week, there have been at least 22 inquiries about suspected ebola cases in the u.s. so far there have been no confirmed cases anywhere in the western hemisphere. the issue is being linked to the undocumented children in central

america crossing the u.s. border. on an indiana show, representative rokita wrote to the president. >> he said look, we need to know just from a public health standpoint with ebola circulating and everything else, that's my addition to it, not necessarily his, but he said we need to know the condition of these kids. >> rokita isn't the first member of congress to suggest that the children are an ebola threat. we turn our attention to the middle east after four weeks there are renewed hopes of an end to the violence between israel and hamas. over night, a 72-hour cease-fire went into effect. in the coming days, egypt plans to hold talks with the two

sides. israel announced all of its troops are out of gaza after destroying all the tunnels. it warned it will respond to any attacks. the u.s. and u.n. praised the cease-fire urging both sides to honor it. there have been several temporary truces before, all of which failed to bring an end to the conflict. one israeli was killed and several others hur hurt when a backhoe rammed into a bus. shelling could be heard in gaza and israel accused hamas of launching a series of rockets. more than 1,800 palestinians, mostly civilians have been killed since the crisis began. israel has lost 64 soldiers and 3 civilians.

meanwhile, president obama signed off on a $225 million funding package for the iron dome system in israel, but there are still signs that the u.s. and israel are at odds over the number of palestinian civilians killed. >> that suspicion that hamas fighters are operating in the vicinity of innocent civilians does not justify taking strikes that put the lives of those innocent civilians at risk. >> i personally expect more from our allies, particularly the united states, to understand that we are in a desperate struggle with a terrorist group that is using the civilian population as a human shield, that is trying to destroy this country, an ally of the united states. >> republican congressman brooks is accusing democrats of waging a war on whites. he was responding to a comment on fox news sunday talking about hispanic voters.

>> this party, your party cannot be the party of the future beyond november if you are seen as the party of white people. >> this is a part of the war on whites that's being launched by the democratic party and the way in which they are launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else. it's a part of the strategy that barack obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things. >> in an interview later with an alabama newspaper, the congressman doubled down. they are attacking, by the democrats, opening soliciting votes based on skin color and that's wrong. nobody should be attacked base on skin color. >> chris mcdonnell is making a long anticipated move six weeks after losing to thad cochran.
