it's gone global. a russian crime ring swiped 1.2 billion user names and pass words. they hit up 400,000 websites in and outside the u.s. 542 million e-mail addresses also. they targeted fortune 500 sites and everything in between. it is international, but a milwaukee security firm caught it. as of now, no link to the russian government. there is a sliver of good news, the stolen information was not stolen. instead, they are using it to send spam to twitter and collect a fee. all eyes own wall street this morning after the dow took a nose dive on tuesday. renewed jitters over russia and ukraine are to blame for that. it closed at 16,429. it is the lowest drop since may.

businessman by a two to one margin. another political dynasty on the horizon, debbie dingle, won the democrat primary in michigan. if she wins,shell be the third consecutive dingle to hold a seat. and in missouri, turned down a lottery ticket to fund veteran's programs. a new poll shows americans are very unhappy with washington in particular. at least one pollster are calling this the summer of our discontent. it's not good news for the president or congress. for more on this, let's bring in tracie potts in washington. what stood out the most in this poll? >> reporter: well, the fact it's not necessarily partisan democrats are fed up, republicans are fed up. a lot of the reasons are people are still feeling the effects of the recession.

41% said someone in the household lost a job and two-thirds are feeling an impact. almost eight in ten, 79% of voters said they're dissatisfied with the political system. seven in ten think economic problems have to do with people in washington not getting it done. president obama, new low 40%. nowhere near congress, they are at 14% approval. and 57% of voters, six in ten, so fed up with what's happening here in washington they would be willing to carry a sign about it. and they mentioned examples like impeach obama and republicans and democrats, do your job. no question in the new poll, betty, people are really fed up with what's been happening here and how it's affecting them. >> true. it's getting nasty. new this morning as well, a new attack in afghanistan to tell you about.

an afghan police officer at a check point turned on his colleagues killing seven of them. this comes as we are learning more about the two star general kill would yesterday in afghanistan. major general harold green, the highest-ranking general since the vietnam war. known as harry, he was in charge of training the afghan national security forces. he leaves behind his wife, a son in the army and a daughter who just graduated from college. take a listen to how a friend remembers him. >> he's always willing to help soldiers. that's what i always liked about harry. he wanted the absolute very best equipment and systems for them to go into battle with. >> the attack happened at this military training academy in kabul. he was there performing a routine visit. witnesses say a loan gunman entered the facility and opened fire with an assault rifle.

we'll keep watching. that's scrambled politics. joined now by kevin. good morning, how are you today? >> great to be on. >> let me ask you about this. there are a lot of concerns about the largest cyber heist in history. it's mind-blowing, really. a russian crime ring, over a billion user names and pass words. any indication that the russian government might be involved here? >> there's always a fear of that. both russia and china have clearly sponsored rings like this in the past. that's definitely something that people are looking at. but from what, you know, technical experts are saying right now, there's no definite hard proof to link the government to the crime ring. >> russia is reportedly bulking up troops at the ukraine border. is this proof that the tough sanctions haven't deescalated the situation? >> it's another thing, it's -- american diplomats say it's

difficult to predict what vladimir putin is doing and thinking. no one expected him to an ex-cry mere ya in the first place. what this means, and there are some indications these sanctions are hurting russians more. and scattered reports of people complaining about the inability to get certain goods in the russian economy. >> let me bring the conversation back at home. the latest poll shows the president's approval ratings at an all-time low. what are the main concerns for americans? >> the one thing that's really been shocking, and this again ties back to russia in part, is how low his approval rating has gotten on foreign policy. that was his strength throughout the first term because he was withdrawing troops from iraq and afghanistan. at this point, 60% of americans disapprove of the foreign policy, never seen that in the first term.
