maker morgan spurlock. >> this guy takes bags of mcdonalds cut up and french fries and makes art. >> within a week, the video receives more than 1 million hits. >> it was quite shocking. i knew there was viral videos but never did i think i would create one. never thought of that. i was just playing around. >> why use ketchup and french fries to paint a picture? jason grew tired of drawing with charcoal and pencil. he found it in his happy meal. >> i came across it by accident eating french fries and saw that i can manipulate the ketchup with the french fry and it could be like a brush. >> jason wanted to paint something that related to the tools he was using, so he decided to paint his version of

the move vie poster "super sauc me." with a small webcam recording, jason prepares his ketchup, picks up a fry and begins painting. >> mcdonalds french fries as a print brush. unbelievable. >> ketchup may work as a condament but is tricky with paint. >> as a matter of paint, the ketchup was a matter of how thick it was. if it was thing, it was a light color because the background showed through and if it was piled on thick, it was the darkest red. it was skrumting. >> working with flimsy french frys is problematic. >> i had to find ones with a point or at the end i found soggy ones performed differently. it's like a variety of brushes. >> despite jason's unique challenges, a very realistic

depiction of ronald mcdonald begins to emerge. >> it's interesting to see the building of it, because it can really help go, wow, that's how you do that? >> the french fry brush dances across the paper and the image of morgan spurlock becomes visible. he finishes in less than an hour. >> he's obviously a true artist rather than just do portraits like everyone else, he used a different medium. i think it's cool. >> since the original posting in 2007, jason's ketchup art earned more than 3 million hits. >> any time somebody has an extraordinary talent like the that, it seems to do really well on the internet. add to the fact they use a time lapse camera, people love that. >> some people go so far to get ketchup and french fries and try it. >> jason's passion for creating unusual works of art doesn't

stop with ketchup and fries but the cheeto elvis and the lipstick angelina jolie drawn with lipstick but his most famous work is after ketchup art. it's a time lapsed version of the mona lisa using microsoft paint. >> most people that use windows try microsoft paint. it's inclouded and usually good enough to draw a stick figure and that's the extend of it. >> jason wanted to create fine art while using a consumer program like microsoft paint. >> the idea i had was to take something people had experience with and put it with another thing which was the mona lisa. it was two things they could relate to and give it a value of its own. >> despite the limitations of microsoft paint, jason finds ways to add depth to the painting. >> i was using a drawing tablet, so that made it a lot easier but

i used a variety of the tools and a lot of it is kind of an optical illusion. >> within about an hour and a half, jason finishes his painting. and since posting, jason's painting has gone viral with more than 11 million hits. jason hopes to continue to use the internet as a medium to showcase his work. >> the internet expands horizons and opens the world to their self-expression. their art will get more if seen on youtube even if it's not making millions. it's getting thousands of views than it would be sitting in a gallery. ♪ ♪ another artist who brings something unique to the internet is photographer noah colena. he takes a picture of hip selhiy day for six years. >> every day and you get to watch this guy basically grow. >> this is an amazing video. it's hard to find a video on the

internet that surprises you and has a wow factor and this is definitely one of those. >> some people keep scrapbooks, others write in journals but on january 11th, 2000, noah begins the project. a project that captures the passage of time. with a flip screen of his digital camera, noah is able to see the image while photographing. he lines up his nose in the center of the screen and snaps. in the beginning he doesn't think it will be possible to photograph himself every single day but soon, it becomes as normal as brushing his teeth. six years later he compiles it into a 5.5 minute video and posts it on youtube. >> this blew up, like mind exploding. >> viewers watched more than half a decade of his life

unfold, apartments, hair styles, girlfriends. >> in someways, it's a very personal video where it's like this is me just completely exposed and people get into that. >> this three weeks, the video shoots to one million hits. >> every once in awhile you get one where he's on vacation or weird night vision. >> you find little things every time you watch it, see little people in the background and he's switching rooms and his style sort of changes and he has facial hair. it's a day in a life. >> and though noah ever smiles, there is something about his stair that the completely memorizing. >> it's really creepy, like this guy is staring into my soul. >> but viewers seem to love it, because noah's video has earned more than 13 million hits and counting. >> people are really interested until the passage of time, to watch somebody's face and hair and style change over six years every single day is really interesting. you know, i could watch this over and over again.
