hours ago. >> i accept that verdict of the people and call on all of scotland to follow suit in accepting the democratic vote. in the scottish capital, we have the latest on the vote for us. >> reporter: good morning from eddinburgh, the vote is in. scotland rejected independence. they've decided to stay with the eyed kingdom of great britain. it spelt relief in westminster after a 10% swept them into victory, david cameron saying it was right for them to offer the democratic vote and britain needs to move on. markets may have called it yesterday. stocks already rising. the yen, the euro, all up. today, led the rally, the scottish bank, saying it's business as usual. standard life one the first

it didn't really get a lot of traction here until the last couple of days with regards to what would happen. >> and then the armed forces being based in scotland. some of our armorments there would have cost billions to move if that came to pass. let's also talk about this -- you may have saw this, harry reid, the gop walked right into his trap. according to politico. what is this trap the gop may have walked into for harry reid? >> an interesting quote from senator reid, right? i think everyone would argue -- he's saying because, that he's not as well known as republicans are making hem out to be and that's the argument. and if democrats keep control of the senate in november, which you know, it's anyone's guess. i mean, one poll says democrats have a slight lead. republicans -- another poll says republicans have a slight lead. it really is unsure, but it was a pretty, i think either way, anyone would agree, that this senate race, the senate races for november are extremely

competitive. >> right. >> and extremely nationalized and a referendum perhaps none ot reid, definitely on president obama. >> interesting, we were talking about the polling out of scotland. the polling when we look what's going to happen with the senate, similar in that -- who knows? >> who knows? >> who knows. talking about the gop here. and we were just going through rand paul, newt gingrich, saying they need a can-do message. is that simply it? is the message they were describing what they need to be doing moving towards the mid-terms here? >> what's interesting is what senator paul is saying as he tries to lay groundwork for a 2016 presidential run, but you know, i think largely republicans, this mid-term cycle's tried to make it a referendum on president obama, things like health care, immigration and those issues. national security obviously another big issue. and -- but you know, ever since 2012 they've been talking about expanding the party. their efforts to do that and whether or not they're able to will have numbers after the
