bull's eye. folks face rain, winds and possible tornadoes. the extreme weather walloped parts of the u.s. on monday in arkansas a tornado, the twister levelled buildings in seconds. the storm did prove deadly for one family. >> their mother is in intensive care right now but stable. the father didn't make it. >> in louisiana a state of emergency is on. homes crushed, trees crumpled and power poles snapped. in alabama the damage was every where. a 75-year-old woman was crushed and killed by a tree. >> i tried everything i could to get her out. but the tree was on top of her. >> and another weather threat, hurricane gonzalo is growing. it has battered the caribbean and now head ed towards puerto rico. meteorologist bill karins is

tracking all of this and he's up in just a few minutes so stay tuned for that. right now we want to tell you about breaking news out of germany. word that an ebola patient has died. he was a u.n. worker stationed in liberia. he wassing brought to germany for care last thursday. meanwhile here in the u.s. a call for help. the president wants other countries to donate supplies to west africa. in dallas, the nurse remains in isolation. on sunday she got a blood transfusion from dr. kent brantley. her family is hoping for the best. >> the family is in a shock situation. they don't know what to do. >> as for her dog, he remains under medical watch but health officials believe bentley is not a health risk. the infected nbc cameraman is feeling better. that's some good news. on twitter he thanked people. ashoka mukpo is facing big medical bills, $500,000. nbc and others are working to

cover those bills. a new call from the cdc. hospitals need to get up to speed on dealing with ebola. >> every hospital in this country needs to think about the possibility of ebola and anyone with the fever or other symptoms that might be consistent with ebola. >> a new fear inside the outbreak zone a food shortage in sierra leone. 40% of farms have been abandoned due to tend. a quiet evening, caps four davis organized protest in ferguson, and st. louis. organizers say it doesn't end here. as one of their final acts of civil disobedience protesters took their demands for justice to the rams 49ers football game and clashed with police and fans attending that game. inside the stadium they held up banners like this one which reads rams fans know black matter on and off the field.

senate race this year, kentucky where senate minority leader mitch mcconnell fights off grimes. last night no love lost in their debate. both had some explaining to do. grimes has refused to say whether she voted for president obama and doubled down last night by crediting a constitutional right. >> i'm not going to compromise a constitutional right provided here in kentucky in order to currie favor on one or other side, or for members of the media. >> mitch mcconnell was forced to address allegations that he enriched himself at public expense. >> is he not a multimillionaire. >> she knows that's as a result of an inheritance that my wife got when her mother passed away. >> well recent polls are divided

we still have about 100,000 people without power from the storms yesterday. one fatality and now that line of storms is still rolling through the southeast. this will cause a lot of problems at the airports today and in general for people returning back to school and work after the holiday weekend. who sat risk right now? the line of storms is about to approach the downtown atlanta area, waiting for the line to go through, dangerous winds with that. no tornado warnings with that. around tallahassee some very strong storms. later today this storm system will regenerate, get more energy and juice with the afternoon, if you're in the charlotte area, raleigh, anywhere north of charlotte, southern virginia or columbia, south carolina that's where i'm favoring the best chance of afternoon tornadoes.
