luck because we're tracking a winner storm that could be a mess for you that have the holiday travel out there plus the long lines that you're going to see at the ticket counter. and it is back. we're going to kick off the holiday season by waking up one of the current giant of football. recently said that the best body in the nfl but did you know he has one of the biggest hearts too? place your bets. this is way too early. >> hi, good morning, i'm thomas roberts. it's wednesday november 26th. welcome to way too early. the show that wishes our arms were bigger than our hearts. we're ready for this holiday season. yes we are. we have a lot of news to get to this morningme. we want to begin on this serious note. we have been talking about what's happening around the country nationally. the big news is we're hearing

from officer darren wilson who is speaking out about the shooting that killed michael brown. the altercation began after he asked the teen to move out of the middle of the street and after a verbal exchange wilson says brown reached into his police car grabbing for his gun. it was during that struggle the officer says that brown punched him in the face. >> so you're still sitting there figuring out how do i get out of this. >> the next thing was how do i survive? >> how do you survive? >> i didn't know if i would be able to with stand another hit like that. >> where is your gun. >> i said get back or i'm going to shoot you and his response he grabbed the stop of my gun and when he grabbed it he said you're too much [ bleep ] to shoot me and i can feel his hand trying to come over my hand and try to shoot me with my own gun and that's when i pulled the trigger for the first time. >> what happened? >> didn't go off. the gun was being jammed by his hand on top of the firearm so i

tried again and again another click. i was like this has to work or i'm going to be dead. he's going to get this gun away from me so i pull a third time and it finally goes off. >> something you think that will always haunt you. >> i don't think it's a haunting. it's always going to be something that happened. >> you are -- you have a very clean conscious. >> the reason i have a clean conscious is i know i did my job right. >> so protests however did continue through the night and into the morning in several u.s. cities specifically in ferguson missouri. demonstrations were not as violent as yesterday barring a view incidents. police say there were 44 arrests made. in st. louis police had to year tear gas to break up a crowd. 21 people were arrested for vandalism and other crimes throughout the day and here in new york a thousand protestors blocked the lincoln tunnel and fdr drive stretching as far as 2.5 blocks.

earlier this morning missouri highway patrol captain ron johnson was asked if the state could have done anything differently. >> none of us could imagine last night was going to be what it was. if we had a crystal ball we would have done something different. we could never have imagined that. so we reevaluated and we're where we need to be and we'll continue to get better at it and i think now we all understand what we need to do to make this community safe but i think we're all on the same page. >> meanwhile president obama says that attorney general eric holder will set up meetings across the country to make sure that law enforcement is responding appropriately to the public demonstrations. >> nothing of significance, nothing of benefit results from destructive acts. i have -- i've never seen a civil rights law or a health care bill or an immigration bill result because a car got burned.

it happened because people vote. it happened because people mobilize. it happened because people organize. it happens because people look at what are the best policies to solve the problem. that's how you actually move something forward. >> the outgoing attorney general also said the federal investigation will continue as holder remains the point person for the obama administration's efforts to ease the rising racial tensions related to this issue. >> i want to move on to our other big story we're following for you today. the winter storm that's expected to pound the northeast could bring trouble to millions of travellers on this thanksgiving holiday. 46 million people expected to head out of town. 20 of whom live in the affected areas. they're likely to have a lot of company from those taking advantages of low gas prices. meantime airlines already cancelled more than 200 flights in anticipation of the storm at

two airports. but it's a different story on the rails. amtrak says it will try to power through the storm system. we want to say good morning to bill karins with the latest. is this staying on track with the models you have been watching throughout the week? >> thankfully it's playing out exactly how i thought it was going to. we are just fine this morning. it's this afternoon and this evening that we get into the snow and times you'll be off the highways so let's get into it. and the temperatures, it was so warm yesterday. you knew it wasn't going to instantly snow so it is raining up and down the entire east coast. florida got nailed with about six inches of rain yesterday. flooding concerns there. snow is breaking out in the high country of virginia and west virginia. notice the temperatures in i-95. we're still in the mid to upper 40s so there's no problems until noon today driving i-95. i-81 will eventually turn to a little bit of snow.

we still have winter storm warnings all the way to maine and if anything the forecast has gotten worse for central portions of new england and northern new england where the heavier snow has shifted northward. we have areas of concern late today. you want to be off the northway around the albany area and i-87 and up there in northern new england but that's later in the day. you're okay now. >> so the earlier the better and tomorrow is going to look like what for people? >> you have to wait about ten minutes and i'll give you your thanksgiving forecast. >> that's a good hook. bill i'm on the line for you. thanks so much. two minnesota men are charged with attempting to join the islamic state. an 18-year-old was stopped at the airport as he was about to travel to the middle east but the other would be that was 20 evaded authorities. a hand full of people living in minnesota have gone to syria to

fight with militants. isis received $45 million in ransom payments over this past year. the group has killed five western hostages, all americans or britts whose governments refused to pay. an overwhelming number of americans says the u.s. should never pay out ransom for hostages. shares of apple are up 47% this year alone. the company had a market value of 700 $2 billion. no other company reached that size before. the larger sized iphone are thriving investor confidence along with apple pay and we learned on tuesday that a surge in consumer spending helped push the growth rate to 3.9% in the third quarter. the u.s. is enjoying the strongest 6 month performance in more than a decade. steve joins us live. we have been talking a lot about

oil prices. what are we expecting to come out of those meetings? >> it's quite extraordinary. what do your viewers care about what's going on in this beautiful capitol? they should care a lot. because one of the reasons why they're enjoying gasoline prices low is because there's an oversupply. the other big opec members, they're having to respond and sell their oil not in the states anymore but sell it to asia and the chinese and the indians as well but there's still oversupply in the market. the russians have been in town as well and they account for another 10 million barrels a day in oil. can they get those prices to a fall? many people doubt that. >> how long will the meetings

take place? how long will you be in vienna steve? >> we came yesterday because there was an amazing premeeting. the mexicans are desperate to sell their products to tu.s. as well. you had about 40 million barrels a day worth of producers here. the big meeting is tomorrow and you have thanksgiving of course but look to see what the saudis do. they're the kingpins. they're called the swing producer that may make or break this meeting. but prices have been going down because there was no agreement with the russians yesterday and that was very significant. >> thank you, sir. appreciate it. back here at home two more states, those two in the deep south have had marriage equality bans overturned. they struck down same-sex marriage bans in arkansas and mississippi. couples aren't heading to the alters yet because both are on

saw o'dell what he did the other night the catch. what did you think about that? the three fingers? >> i have been blessed enough to play in the national football league for ten years and i've never seen a play like that or catch like that in my entire career and he just turned 22 years old. so the fact that he is that capable and that talented at this time, you know, just goes to show you, you know, the potential that he has to be an incredible player for a very very long type. very excited for us. actually we would like to get the win and the catch but just to be there to see the catch was incredible. >> here's the great thing. nothing says thanksgiving in this country like football but the great thing about you steve is that you are such a giant among the community because i saw these great pictures of you this week out in newark giving out turkey to the community and these kids and families to make

sure that they have a turkey on the table for thanksgiving. why do you do this work for the kids and the community. >> you know, tom it's a great question and for me, you know, like i said, i never thought that i would ever make it in the national football league and to be a super bowl champion playing in the greatest city in the world it only seems right, you know, i know that i have an opportunity to make an impact in people's lives not only giving them something tangible like a turkey to be able to have a proper thanksgiving because we all have so much to be thankful for but for me it's being able to motivate and educate these children and knowing that listen i one born on third base. i'm a skinny kid from indiana. i worked harang ged and had a d and i made it and for me to be able to give back and go out in communities, for me to be able

hernandez is postponed. they asked the judge to delay the trial stemming from the fatal shootings so that the legal team can prep for a different case involving the former player. the 2013 slaying of oden lloyd. that's a big complication. we want to shift back our attention to the weather. bill is going to fill us in on the forecast and thanksgiving day. >> update your plans. if you're in northern you england the forecast is worse. i-95 the forecast is better. looks to be all rain during the daylight hours. so 8 to 12 the highest totals around the capital district. a little area heading up into the white and green mountains a little worse there. maybe even into maine too but the big cities are not bad at all. philly maybe zero to 2 inches. boston 1 to 2 at the end of the

they crucified his character. for people that don't even know my son, they probably wish they did because the things that they were saying is just terrible. it's terrible. >> that was michael brown's father speaking to msnbc's reverend al sharpton and despite calls for peace there were more violence in ferguson overnight. certainly different after it was announced there would not be an indictment. bring us up to speed on what happened there in the last few hours. we do know they made announcements about arrests that they were able to happen

overnight. >> yeah, thomas. it was rough overnight but not nearly as bad as 24 hours earlier and the hours just after the grand jury's decision was announced here. we did have 44 arrests. violence in downtown ferguson where the police department is. where city hall is. there was looting and tear gas was used overnight. all the officers gathered here and working talked about what happened overnight. let's give a listen. >> we were able to seize a molotov cocktail in the area of church street in front of city hall there was an arrest made regarding that. i have the actual molotov cocktail here on the tailgate of the pick up truck. we also seized a .9 millimeter semiautomatic pistol. rocks, bottoms, socket extension, looks like broken tent poles, pieces of asphalt, small bottles filled with

probably something you could drink, perhaps water or gatorade. >> the plan moving forward is continue to make sure that the street is safe and businesses are maintained and that people still have their rights for freedom of speech and protest. >> yeah when you talk about those protests thomas police say an important step was made last night because some of the peaceful protestors, people been here for three months marching peacefully actually helped aofficers identifying those causing problems in the crowd. they think that's a big step as they move forwad here. one other note we had thousands of national guard troops move into the area overnight tripling the amount first deployed. a more aggressive stance by police all seemed to contribute to a better night. still violence but a better night. >> that's a big point for a lot of americans watching this that there were so many peaceful demop stray tos that have been there for over 100 days that

have not had their work diminished or demeaned for those trying to do something illegal and use this as a means to cause harm to an already injured community. >> these were people frustrated. i was on the streets with these guys the first night. they're very angry and devastated about what happened to their community. the message they tried to deliver for three months has been destroyed by what's happening here. >> jay, thank you. that's going to do it for this wednesday edition of way too early. stick around, morning joe starts in just a few minutes.
