made by benjamin netanyahu in a dramatic speech he made at the u.n. where he warned that iran was one year away from making a nuclear bomb. >> if these are the facts, and they are, where should a red line be drawn? a red line should be drawn right here. before, before iran completes the second stage of nuclear enrichment necessary to make a bomb. before iran gets to a point where it's a few months away or a few weeks away from amassing enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon. >> but iran's spy agency says that's actually not the case. and leaked documents says it's much further away. supporters of the prime minister are now warning there will be

consequences for democrats who skip his address to congress on march 3. i don't think those democrats needed a memo from benjamin netanyahu that staying away might not be good for the party because two senior democrats have finally moved, dick durbin and dianne feinstein, and they're inviting him to a closed door meeting with the democrats, deciding they'd rather be sideways with barack obama than their voters. and time's running out for lawmakers to fund the department of homeland security. senate democrats again blocked a funding bill that would have reversed president obama's executive actions on immigration and funded the dhs. afterwards mitch mcconnell took to the floor and said it's time to take a different approach in the effort to fund dhs. mcconnell aims to present a bill that will target the immigration policy separate from the one that will fund homeland

security. jay johnson warned what this would cause. >> a shutdown would cause serious consequences and amount to a serious disruption in our ability to protect the homeland. as i've said many times now, it's like trying to drive across country with no more than 5 gallons of gas in your tank and you don't know when the next gas station will appear. this is no way to run a government. >> now if the deadline comes and goes and there's no funding agreement, roughly 30,000 dhs employees will be furloughed while essential personnel will keep working without receiving paychecks. about 10% of the workforce would be furloughed in the tsa as well. marco rubio is weighing back in on the funding fight. rubio had suggested just last week that he was open to a clean

dealso bill that would not reverse the president's immigration action. his comes have caused a stir and they've since been walked back. marco was in new hampshire last night and sought to further clarify his stance and attacked senate democrats in the process. he said i don't believe, i don't believe we should pass a clean dhs bill. it's very difficult to pass anything now because of the democrats. when we filibuster we get accused of shutting down the government. when they filibuster, we get accused of shutting down the government. so marco rubio changing his position on that issue. and a recent poll shows that if the department's forced to shut down republicans would indeed receive a lion's share of the blame. we've seen this story, it broke last night on the huffington post, unfortunate. veteran affairs secretary robert mcdonald has been forced to admit that he wasn't in the special forces as he once claimed. the huffington post is reporting that mcdonald actually served in

and we will deliver lasting defeat. make no doubt. >> from kuwait to the jersey state, new jersey governor and possible 2016 candidate, chris christie dealing with another problem this morning as he prepares to announce the state's budget for 2016. a judge says that christie broke the law by cutting nearly $1.6 billion from new jersey's public pension system. governor christie's now being ordered to work with lawmakers to restore those funds and state lawmakers are warning of quote draconian budget cuts if they need to come up with the money. governor christie is vowing to appeal the ruling and promised to increase contributions to the state's retirement system if public employees agree to pay more toward their pensions. but the suit was started when he didn't have enough payments to

possession is no longer a crime under the state law, smoking pot will still carry a $100 fine in public. regulation is not expected to start until 2016. something else not expected to start until 2016 if then alex rodriguez. a-rod reported back to the yankees three days early. he went to training camp on monday. and he is hoping to earn a spot on the team following his suspension last year. and while we all saw that he apologized to fans in that handwritten letter that's week he refused to go into detail about his past infractions. >> you apologized for your actions. do you think at any point you will specify what those actions were and talk about them more in depth? >> right now i'm just focussed on making the team you know obviously, it was a rough year.

in the north side of atlanta. you know what that does to the morning commute there. this is a one-two punch. this is the first storm. the second is bigger. already winter storm watches from dallas to atlanta to charlotte. this would be significant. if these totals that my computer is telling me are true this would be crippling for the south. birmingham, 6 inches of snow. atlanta, charlotte at 8, raleigh at 9. you know the south. snow like this that's at least a day's worth of nothing going on. >> i lived, obviously, close to birmingham for a very long time and was born in atlanta and still remember whenever we got ice or a little bit of snow it would shut the place down. i was on the north side of town too. if you get 5, 6 inches of snow up there it's going to be a long and ugly commute. if you commute at all. >> all right, bill thank you so much. for more bad news. mr. sunshine. appreciate it. still ahead on "morning

today's decision day. the windy city voters are heading to the polls to vote for chicago's next mayor. the big question today, will current mayor rahm emanuel be able to avoid a runoff in six weeks. and a poll shows just how crucial each vote may be in answering that question. mayor emanuel has 48% while cook county commissioner has 27%. that puts the mayor within the margin of error to avoid a runoff if he can slip over that 50% line. some are looking at the impact for the presidential campaign in 2016. garcia is doing his best to channel senator elizabeth warren who will be on "morning joe" later this morning. he's a favorite of progressives on the trail and is focuses on some of her issues such as

press is digging deeper into the expenses of u.s. congressman aaron schock who keeps getting in the news for alt wrong reasons. he was criticized for his downton abbey office decor. now there are reports that he spent taxpayer money and campaign funds to fly on private jets owned by donors. the ap's identified at least one dozen flights worth more than $40,000 on donors' planes since mid 2011. he took his interns to a katy perry concert. and he reportedly paid $1400 in campaign expenses to a massage parlor. he responded saying that he travels frequently and to raise

money for his campaign committee and congressional colleagues from illinois. the illinois congressman is already being investigated that he illegally solicited donations in 2012 and i'm sure more to come on this story. a new story suggesting that feeding peanut products to infants is actually ben -- beneficial to their health. a study shows an alarming increase in food allergies. introducing them to peanuts before the age of one lowers the risk by as much as 81%. and america's seen a significant rise in peanut allergies with 2% of american children testing positive for the allergy. children affected has quadrupled in the last 13 years.
