of three decades. he was connected to three mysterious deaths his wife a neighbor and a close friend. last night's episode ended with him heading into a restroom still with a live microphone and seemingly talking to himself. >> there it is. what the held did i do? killed them all, of course. >> it is unclear whether he knew his microphone was still recording. it's also unclear whether producers confronted him or asked him what he meant. durst was arrested saturday night in new orleans and is facing a charge of capital murder of his friend susan bermen in 2000. they have been investigating her death since that time. the lpd released a statement

saying in addition to evidence that has come to light in the past year investigators have identified robert durst as the person responsible for susan bermen's death. after a massive man hunt an arrest has been made in connection with with the shoot shooting of two police officers in ferguson missouri last week. was he specifically targeting the officers or was he in an argument with someone else like he says he was? nbc jay gray is live in ferguson this morning. what's the latest with this? >> reporter: good morning. police say it was a tip from the public that actually led them to this suspect who's from the area and who allegedly has admitted to pulling the trigger. the blast of gunfire came just after midnight we understand. two officers wounded as protests were ending outside the ferguson police department. county and state tactical teams launched an intense man hunt.

late saturday they arrested 20-year-old jeffrey williams who investors said admitted to firing the shots but said they weren't meant for police. >> it's possible he was firing at some officers and the officers were in the back but it's still assault in the first degree. >> reporter: there are indications he was involved in an altercation a few hours after leaving the protest. he was out there earlier in the evening as part of the zmon stragss. it's clear that tension is building. and some worry the shooting targeted or not could rekindle the confrontations and violence here. >> i'm asking all the protesters who's here for the wrong reason to stay out of her city. >> reporter: a city that continues to be on edge right now. and many of the regular protesters immediately spoke out

after what police called an ambush when it happened. they've applauded the arrest here and say their problem's not with the officers but with the system. that's the latest live here in ferguson. back to you. >> well negotiations will resume today between john kerry and iran's foreign minister over iran's nuclear ambitions. it comes after senate republicans wrote a letter to the iranian government saying any deal must also meet congressional approval. these negotiations are still a hot button issue. >> they are. more letters flying back and forth the white house telling the senate foreign relations imphee to stay out of it and them responding they want input before this is final. lawmakers are concerned this will be a bad deal. >> reporter: a sunday meeting between secretary of state and iran's foreign minister was postponed until today. they're discussing whether to

lift united nations sanctions opening financial markets and oil shipments in exchange for iran curbing its nuclear program. >> my hope is that in the next days that will be possible. >> reporter: but the letter 47 senators sent to iran could impact the negotiations. >> the letter signed by the 47 senators weakened the negotiating about. that was wrong. >> reporter: senator tom cotton wrote it and defends it. >> it's going to put iran on the path of a bomb. >> they want final approval of any deal president obama signs off on. >> he clearly doesn't want congress involved in it at all, and we're worried about it. >> reporter: united nations sanctions could be relaxed but u.s. sanctions would still stand. >> a blown tire forced a flight from denver to kansas to make an emergency landing and the drama was caught on camera.

thursday. get your brackets ready. lots of celebrations. tick vie tell and kentucky superfan ashley judd shared a smooth at the tournament. some excitement there. georgia state won the sun belt championships against georgia southern to get the automatic bid to the big dance but the celebrations got a little out of hand. the head coach had to be helped off the court after tearing his achilles. kevin harvick proves he is the most dominant driver this year. he wins his fourth consecutive race at the speedway. he hasn't finished worse than second in his last seven races. he is the first nascar driver to do that since richard petty in 1974. this is a scary crash in the guy or the nationals.

well extreme record. boston, you did it. a new snow record. only 2.9 inches is what we did to break the record but that brings the winter seasonal total to 108.6 inches of snow. that's not what we're calling mitt. that's the most snow ever recorded in boston. the last record breaker was in the 95 season. ohio the march melt flooding problems. the ohio river hitting five feet above flood stage.

adding to the problem, ice jams. there's a lot of them. when they break free they cause problems and the river to rise quickly. amazing pictures but ice jams can be very dangerous. and as far as boston is concerned. we're only halfway through march. even in april boston averages about 2 to 3 inches of snow. yesterday the story wasn't really boston new england. it was the amazing amount of heat across the country. record highs from southern california. 88 in l.a. 90 burbank and across the central plains yesterday was a record breaker. as far north as fargo, north dakota usually in march you're still on snow mobiles, today is just the same. we're going to be very warm. st. louis at 68 today.

good morning. let's see how happy this whole loretta lynch thing is going to be. they plan to hold up the confirmation until they get a bill passed. is that a stall tactic or a necessary reason for holding this up? >> republicans have democrats in a pickle. they had this legislation and it should have been an easily bill to pass. both sides were on board and they sort of snuck in this legislation about abortion and democrats said we didn't read the bill which makes them look terrible and they're sort of playing with this. it's not about human trafficking. it's not about loretta lynch. >> lynch's nomination has been held up in the senate longer than any attorney general nominee in decades. does this confirm frustrations with lawmakers that they can't get anything done? >> absolutely. the gop came in and said we're better at governance but this

looks an awful lot like partisan politicking and the thing we thought they got rid of. >> i want to go to lindsey graham when it comes to budget and spending. this is a war within the republican party. is this a sign that republican leaders are kind of losing control of their party? >> senator graham calls this a war but this seems like another battle in the gop's large ere war. we have a tea party and this establishment republicans. they both married to have this majority but it's contention. the majority leader has his work cut out for him as he tries to keep the cut side together with the side that says we need to prioritize spending in the defense department and bolstering our armed services. >> if we see another government shut down this is not going to look good for the gop or anyone in congress in fact. >> they're going to have egg on
