ted cruz has made it official at least on twitter. at midnight the senator from texas tweeted i'm running for president and i hope to earn your support along with this video. >> it's a time for truth. a time to rise to the challenge, just as americans have always done. i believe in america and her people and i believe we can stand up and restore our promise. it's going to take a new generation. of courageous conservatives to help make america great again and i'm ready to stand with you to lead the fight. >> last night the associated press shot photos of his family trying out the liberty university stage where he will speak today. becoming the first major candidate to announce a run for 2016. cruz decided to jump the rest of the field and he has a lot of work to do. the latest wall street journal poll shows nearly as many

republicans couldn't see themselves supporting him as those that could but will the early entrance help him. no candidate to announce their candidate first has won since 1952 and the backlash has begun. governor jerry brown had this to stay. data doesn't always back up claims of rising temperatures. >> when he said is absolutely false, and that man has such a level of ignorance and a direct falsification of existing scientific data. it's shocking and i think that man rendered himself unfit to be running for office. >> the site of his university is also of interest. it's the private christian college. according to the son of the founder, the previously

scheduled speech for today is being rescheduled. and as one senator jumps into the race for the white house, another is being urged to do the same. the boston globe's editorial board is calling on senator elizabeth warren to run for the democratic nomination in 2016. the globe writes democrats would be making a big mistake if they let hillary clinton coast to the presidential nomination without real opposition. and elizabeth warren can make sure that doesn't happen. if warn sticks to her refusal, she should make it her responsibility to recruit candidates to provide voters with a debate on her signature cause reducing income inequality. matchups show a gap of over 40 points between warn and clinton.

and warren has repeatedly said she's not running for president and has taken no steps to indicate otherwise. "the new york times" this morning is shedding light on e-mails that hillary clinton turned over on benghazi. it left four americans dead. the e-mails do not suggest that clinton was part of a coverup or told u.s. forces not to respond as some critics have claimed. one chain focuses on the ambassador then to the u.n., susan rice who went on five sunday talk shows and stated it was a spontaneous attack. clinton's department of staff initially appeared to be pleased saying she did make clear our view that this started spontaneously but as criticism

grew she's in damage control. telling him you never said spontaneous. aids also used personal e-mail to correspondent with clinton which contra dilktdicts her remarks earlier this month. >> i communicated with other government officials on their dot glove accounts. those e-mails would be saved in the state department's system to meet recordkeeping requirements and that indeed is what happened. >> but in a statement clinton's spokesman said it was the aid's practice to primarily use their work e-mail when conducting state business with only the tiniest fraction of the more than 1 million they sent or received involving their personal accounts. isreal's president is holding a second round of talks today about forming the new israeli government but it appears officials are still focussed on what happened into

the runup to the country's elections. president obama is finally speaking out in an interview including criticizing benjamin netanyahu for warning that israeli arabs were out voting in droves. >> we indicated that that kind of rhetoric was contrary to what is the best of isreal's traditions. that although isreal was founded based on the historic jewish homeland, and the need to have a jewish homeland israeli democracy has been premised on everybody in the country being treated equally and fairly. >> president obama also says benjamin netanyahu jeopardized the possible peace deal we vowing palestinians would not have a state if he is prime minister. >> i did indicate to him that we continue to believe that a two-state solution is the only

way for the long term security of isreal if it wants to stay both a jewish state and democratic. we take him at his word when he said it wouldn't happen during his prime minister time. and that's why we've got to evaluate what other options are available to make sure that we don't see a chaotic situation in the region. >> but the israeli ambassador to the u.s. says that benjamin netanyahu did not change his position. >> why did the peace process collapse? you can't join up with a terrorist organization. a palestinian state would be a palestinian terrorist state. the prime minister is not against a demilitarized palestinian state. he's against a terror state on the west bank which would create 20 gazas. >> mccain is defending netanyahu by taking his own jab at president obama.

>> the president should get over it. get over your temper tran trum mr. president. it's time that we work together with our israeli friends and try to stem this tide of isis and iranian movement throughout the region which is threatening the very fabric of the region. the least of your problems is what benjamin netanyahu said during an election campaign. >> we'll talk about this on morning joe. just days after a deadly suicide bomb at a mosque in yemen, the country appears to be spiraling out of control. prompting the u.s. to evacuate its remaining troops from the region and yemen's president to call for a, quote, urgent intervention by the u.n. security counsel. nbc news christen welker has more on this developing story. >> reporter: rebels fired tear gas as sectarian fighting intensified in the streets. the u.n. security counsel held an emergency meeting and called

for an end to the bloodshed. they have since claimed large parts of country and seized the third largest city just 85 miles from where the president established a base. this weekend the u.s. pulled out of its special forces after intensified fighting and a bloody mosque attack claimed by isis killed people. >> we have been drawing down our presence there for some time as the situation has gone from bad to worse. >> yemen is a breeding ground for terrorists. the underwear bomber in 2009 and one of the shooters in paris was trained in yemen. >> good intelligence stops plots against the homeland. without it we cannot stop it. >> reporter: dpl n an interview last month president obama said the u.s. will continue to combat terrorists in the region.

>> we've been able to maintain pressure in al-qaeda in that region. >> can you do that without a government that's a partner. >> we feel confident we can maintain that pressure. >> a u.s. official told us that's still the case but there's a new opening for al qaeda and isis to thrive. >> while they're focussed on things in yemen we know they have objectives that go much further including the united states. >> and an isis hit list surfacing over the weekend urging sympathizers to kill american soldiers. they have reportedly published names, and alleged addresses of active and retired military personnel online. we have more on this latest call for terror. >> reporter: it's already happening. in tunisiaed a a tourist-filled museum in paris and canada.

isis claims it posted the names, photos and supposed addresses of about 100 u.s. service members after it says it hacked into military servers and databases. the group claimed the 100 americans carried out air strikes in iraq and syria and that they should be killed in their own lands as they walk their streets thinking they are safe. the terrorist website urged on any potential lone wolf demanding what where you waiting for. defense officials tell us the list contains names of some active duty service members. some deployed overseas some combat pilots. the pentagon is urging anyone on the list to exercise caution but at this time has apparently made no decision to pull them off duty or provide personal protection. >> we're going to turn business now. u.s. stocks closed on a high

note friday. the nasdaq reached its highest level in 15 years. steve, what should investors expect for this week? >> it's going to be less tu mull chews you in many ways. last week it was about what janet had to say. the markets ended up. we saw the s&p breaking three weeks of negative moves. the inflation tomorrow inflation is one of the key things she mentioned in her speech last week as well. of the u.s. on tuesday. also oil will be a large component of that and fairly good news for people. the average national price of gasoline falling four cents over the last few weeks. people in louisiana not enjoying mitt. $3.29 for that. and charleston $211. >> steve, it was a big weekend for women at the box office.
