this weekend. there are survival scenes. >> the tradition, we will be in recess. we will be back next because if it's sunday, it's meet the press. good morning. right now on "first look," a harrowing scene caught on tape. a firefighter falls through the roof of a building causing a may day alert. iran putting its foot down as negotiations approach the deadline. a scarry hard landing for passengers aboard this plane and then new details about the pilot who killed 150 people on the germanwings crash. the video is just heart stopping. a california firefighter is clinging to life after falling through a bunch garage. we want to give you a warning. the images you're about to see are graphic.

the tape shot by a neighbor starts out pretty normal. fire teams on the scene of a fire. then one firefighter scales the garage. he's walking and all of a sudden the roof collapses. >> oh my god. oh my god. >> after a terrifying seconds the camera pans back up. fighters hack into the garage. after almost three minutes he is pulled out. this morning he remains in critical conditions with burns on 70% of his body. investigator call its differenty unprecedented. the search is underway for bodies and the second black box from the germanwings jet. despite the jeff terrain in the alps they have managed to find many strands of dna. yesterday the pope took time to

remember the victims that as we learn more about their final moments, katier the as the latest. >> reporter: it was in pilot and gladers that friends they andreas first realized his dreams of flight. friends say it was clear he had a love for the sky. what's not clear is why he would crash a plane carrying 149 others into the side of a mountain. no answers but there's a time line to the last minutes from the cockpit voice recorder. it started normally with a delay. during the assent he mentioned to the co-pilot that he didn't get a chance to use the restroom. lubitz tells the kabs captain he can take over at any time. the captain asks him to prepare for landing. a few minutes later lubitz says he can go. shortly after he's gone lubitz

can be heard pushing his chair back. the plane descends, no answer. the captain begins banging on the door yelling to open the door. passengers scream in the background. nbc news has not confirmed this account and authorities will neither confirm nor deny it. as the search continues the motive remains a mystery. was it a personal crisis depression or another medical issue. lubitz had seen doctors for problems with his vision according to multiple reports. although it's unclear how severe. but as investigators try to sort it all out, this grieving father says it hardly matters. >> if there was a motive or a reason we do not want to hear it. it's not relevant. what is relevant is it should never happen again. my son and everyone on that plane should not be forgotten ever. >> investigators have confirmed they have dna for about half the victims.

they're going to match it up with the dna they've been able to gather from the family members. quite a ways to go before they're going to be able to bury their dead. >> the deadline for nuclear arms talks with iran is quickly approaching. secretary of state is leading the coalition. they have until tuesday to hammer out a deal. the state department is pushing back on a report in the new york times about iran refusing to ship their atomic fuel out of the country. tracie potts is live in washington. where does this leave the talks? >> reporter: well it leaves them in the air. brand new in the last hour the state department is saying that yes, ooirp is pushing back on delivering fuel outside of its country to russia but that was not necessarily a key element of the deal that they have some options here. in the meantime yemen in the fight is the background while the u.s. is negotiating and trying to get to this deadline

they are also on opposite sides with iran when it comes to the fight in yemen. arab states started air strikes. more happened this morning and they're putting together 40,000 soldiers to go in if necessary. >> also this morning one of the biggest biggest names in american business is adding his name to a public outcry. the apple ceo says prodiscrimination religious freedom laws are danger. he's talking about the recent surge of legislation in more than two dozen states allowing business owners the right to refuse service based on religious freedom. it's received huge backlash particularly in indiana where the governor signed it into law last night. brian moore reports. >> reporter: the outcries are getting louder. critics see the new law as

little more than legal cover for discrimination against gays and lesbians. >> everybody is welcome in indiana. >> reporter: the governor suggested sunday there's room for the legislature to clarify the wording. >> i'm open to that but we're not going to change this law. >> reporter: that means no specific protections for gays and lesbians. he says the act is penned after a federal law and similar to measures passed by 20 state legislatures. >> then barack obama voted for it when he was in the senate of illinois. >> reporter: critics are focusing on the indiana's law and calling for a boycott. seattle's mayor is banning official travel to the states. >> laws that say you can discriminate have no place in this country. >> we're simply stating we're stepping out of this. >> reporter: fallout from a law

now facing national constituteny. >> early sunday morning yesterday morning. dozens were injured but no fatalities at halifax international airport. >> reporter: the air canada flight came down. one wing badly damaged. >> we have a report of an air strike emergency. airplane down. >> reporter: it was flying from toronto to halifax, carrying 133 passengers and five crew members. >> we hit once and crashed and skidded for a very long time. >> i hit my head and i said it's over. no way we were going to survive that. >> reporter: authorities say the plane touched down short of the runway and skidded before it came to a stop. >> this caused considerable damage to the aircraft and the mainlanding gear came off at that point.

welcome back to "first look." i apologize for saturday. it was ugly in new england. it was snowing most of the day.

mostly on the grass roads are fine and now you wake up this morning and another batch of light snow moving through for your morning commute. there are snow flakes and those are going to sweep across new england throughout your morning. it's not going to make the roads bad. just seeing it is bad enough. to the south dealing with thunderstorms overnight rolling through northern alabama approaching birmingham and atlanta. these are l weaken as they get there nachlt they're not severe but they're going to cause about a half hour of heavy downpours. as far as the forecast these storms will slowly be weakens throughout the day. here we are at 5:00 a.m. let's time it out for atlanta. as we get to timing. -- the rain will be moving through your areas. not as much bright red with this. it looks a little weaker. the forecast cold and dreary but look at the middle of the country. you were just there. >> look at phoenix.

israel. >> that is your morning dish of scrambled politics. well msnbc reporter jane tim is here. no violence on this set. but there is a lot of backlash we've been talking act today especially following the indiana religious freeden act. the governor says it's not about discrimination. >> i think it looks like it. people are saying now i can refuse service at a restaurant to a gay couple or refuse to host a gay wedding. i think we could even see this into a pharmacist saying i'm not going to sell a woman birth control if they don't believe in that. and indiana doesn't protect gay couples from discrimination as a protected group whereas religion is enshrined in our government as a protected party. i think that it's really key to what's here. there are no protections for these groups but there is for a

lot of religious freedom. >> and it's not just indiana because we are looking at arkansas's governor who is about to sign a similar law. the apple ceo is urging him not to do that. could the backlash be a change of course or are we going to see it happen? >> i think we're going to see it happen. there's 20 other states with laws like this. the governors are em boldened by saying look at the 20 other states. i think the backlash might slow the other states down. >> the deadline with a nuclear deal with iran is fast-approaching. tuesday is when time simply runs out. any chances we'll see a deal? >> i don't think that deadline is as hard as we think it is. there is no real trn parties can't say we didn't hit the deadline, let's keep talking. they have to get something on the table for april 13th. the senate comes back and will take matter into their own hands

for months iran reportedly agreed to send much of its stockpile to russia but on sunday the country's foreign minister made a surprise comment saying there is no question of sending the stocks abroad. this morning a senior state department official is pushing back against that new york times report saying quote, there are viable options that have been under discussion for months including shipping out the stockpile by the resolution is still being discussed. the metric is ensuring the amount of material remaining as enriched material will only be what is necessary for working stock and no more. >> the official went onto say that ooin has previously denied they would export enriched uranium as part of a deal. we have more. >> reporter: it has been a grueling round of talks as they try to bridge the gap
