senator mcconnell now says he's planning to bring lynch up for a vote as early as next week. harry reid says he's prepared to force a vote if republicans do not act. >> we've put up with this for far too long. we're either going to have a vote on this or i'll create one. i know parliament procedure around here and we're going to put up with this for a little while longer but not much. >> at least five republican senators have come out in support of loretta lynch. >> a naturalized u.s. citizen is in custody this afternoon accused to going to syria for training and coming back with intent to kill american soldiers. pete williams has more on this troubling terror trend. >> reporter: these are new charges against an ohio man who had been under surveillance for several months and was then arrested by the state. he'll be in federal court later today to face these allegations.

american officials say the charges reflect a growing fear. people in the u.s. going to syria and getting training and coming back as committed terrorists. prosecutors accused a 23-year-old somali born man of ohio of buying a one-way ticket to athens grease a year ago, getting off the plane and making his way into syria. for two months they say he got training in weapons, and hand to hand combat following his brother who had gone there in 2013 to join al qaeda in syria and was killed in a battle last year. court documents say when he returned in columbus he talked to others saying he wanted to target the military, police or anyone in uniform and wanted to quote, kill three or four american soldiers execution style. his arrest is a first since isis began recruiting. >> this is the first case of an american traveling overseas to syria, training with terrorist groups there and then returning

home to be arrested and indicted. >> reporter: he was arrested on state charges in february and had been under surveillance for months. tracing americans who have been to syria is an urgent priority for the fabzbi. >> we probably have hundreds under some kind of surveillance. >> reporter: authorities say tonight his postings on facebook help attract the attention of authorities. >> he will plead not guilty later this morning and that he was carrying for his mother when he was arrested. >> thank you so much for that report. back to d.c. the man who set off a security scare by landing a continuer at the u.s. capitol is out of prison this morning. he was charged yesterday and he is barred from returning to washington and flying. as we report the incident is reigniting a debate about whether enough is being done to keep the nation's capitol safe.

some severe weather into the oklahoma city area. unfortunately the threat will be renewed once again. here's what we're looking at for severe weather. from boundsrownsville, best chance for isolated tornadoes in south and central texas. then again up through the kansas area we could see afternoon strong storms and tornadoes maybe on tap of that. keep that in mind. today's forecast it stays rainy in the south. we are going to have on and off showers along the east coast. by saturday it is looking summerlike with temperatures 10 degrees above normal up and down the i-95 corridor. 78 in new york. unfortunately the showers from the south start to spread to the east by sunday. but not a bad looking forecast for the east coast this weekend.
