half a billion dollars. yes. this is "way too early." >> good morning. it's thursday may 28th. welcome to "way too early." we're live in washington d.c. our top story this morning, they thought it was inactive but they thought wrong. live anthrax went out to research facilities in nine states in a military base in south korea. the mixup came when an army lab in utah sent what they thought were inactive samples of the deadly bacteria. a lab in maryland discovered it was actually a live and still deadly. defense officials stress there is no risk to the general public and no confirmed reports of anthrax exposure. four civilian lab workers in the u.s. are taking medication as a precaution. along with 22 in south korea who the air force says may have been

exposed. a full investigation by the cdc and the u.s. military is under way. it appears no one appears to be hurt. let's turn to the sports scandal around the world. 14 people are faced with corruption in fifa. among them 9 high ranking fifa officials charged with taking over $150 million in bribes and kickbacks over the years. the charges didn't reach the top. the long time president was not listed in the indictment and will stand for reelection to his post tomorrow. meanwhile in a separate investigation, the swiss have launched a proep into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 world cup awarding to russia and qatar. >> the world's most popular sport was kicked in the gut. the game in the u.s. that kids love to play.

in switzerland seven of the top international sports were arrested. 14 faced corruption charges involving more than $150 million in bribes and kickbacks. >> they corrupted the business of worldwide soccer to serve their interests and to enrich themselves. >> reporter: fifa is to international soccer with the ioc is to the oh picks, awarding sponsorships and tv rights worth billions and picking host places for the world cup. >> this was hijacked. that field that is so famously flat was made tilted. >> reporter: among those already pleading guilty, chuck blazer. blazer who pocketed millions cooperated with authorities wearing a wire to help implicate overs.

interesting. changing gears, the six baltimore police officers charged have requested their case be moved elsewhere. they say it's impossible to select an impartial jury in baltimore due to the overwhelming criticism of the officers and of the widespread effects on the city. this creates an insurmountable prejudice to their client's rights for a fair trial. this city has seen 36 homicides this month. and arrests have dropped by 50% compared to last year. something to keep an eye on during this trial. let's go to texas where officials have made two more heart breaking discoveries. yesterday they found the remains of an unidentified boy in the river. it's unclear at this point if he was even reported missing.

with body of one of the eight people missing from a vacation home that swept down river, that was also recovered bringing the death toll from this epic weather event to 23. >> reporter: a massive search effort is growing. authorities in hays county identified another flood victim 42-year-old woman after rising waters swept away a vacation home. we spoke with her sister and brother-in-law just before the tragic news. >> my sister is my best friend. we're three years apart. she's just the most outgoing sweet, wants to be everybody's friend. >> she is still searching for her parents, her brother-in-law and her nephew a six-year-old boy. >> loves to sing songs and make up his own words to songs.

>> reporter: allen danielle her brother-in-law went up in a helicopter searching with hundreds of volunteers. the family treasured their vacation home for decades. >> the only reason we weren't there last weekend was because of scheduling. so that does keep going through my mind too. >> reporter: around 11:00 saturday night she said her mother texted this picture of the rising water. it was around 1:00 a.m. officials say the home was swept away, the families inside. neighbors say her father ran out to start the suv. she didn't know want to expect but it wasn't there. >> she went double down fell to her knees, and i could only imagine what she was going through. >> we never thought the house could be knocked over ever. >> she has token with the loan survivor so far, devastated.
