things about skin color complex, black and brown pride. mr. mooney found a way to connect to students. it was multicultural the way everybody reacted and responded. >> what were themes that stood out to you? >> some students were so excited to see him number one. they performed slam poetry for him. there was a dance piece, performance art piece. a lot of them were talking about the way they're perceived by their peers. one talked about white privilege and how he looked at himself and seeing how he was interacting with his peers. >> we were talking about this before as we were getting ready. would you say these kids just ninth graders mind you, are more introspective than we were at that age? >> for sure. they're seeing a lot more around them. they're on twitter, on facebook
