to fraying at the seams. this is "way too early." good morning everybody. it's thursday june 11. welcome to "way too early." i'm amy holmes. we begin in upstate new york with new developments in the man hunt for those two escaped killers on the run. in the past 90 minutes a perimeter was set up around a location three miles from the manhole cover, spot where the two escaped. it comes after a fresh tip triggered flurry of police activity overnight near the prison. residents were also told to turn on exterior lights to assist.

other information shows sweat and matt may have headed for vermont. >> we've deployed vermont state police marine assets on the lake. we have information to suggest they thought new york was going to be hot, vermont would be cooler in terms of law enforcement, and that a camp in vermont might be a better place to be than new york. >> those developments come as a spotlight continues to shine on joyce mitchell a prison employee and so called person of interest in the investigation wednesday. here's miguel with more. >> in a show of force and fire power, the search for david sweat and richard matt going door to door. this is joyce mitchell civilian employee who worked at the prison tailor shop.

police say there's no metal detectors here. even duffle bags are allowed in and out unchecked. inmates are at times left unattended. >> law enforcement staff notified me they had access for a month to the inner workings of the prison. >> they used power tools to escape and navigated cat walks and pipes. >> there's no way they could find their way to exit in one night with a maize of tunnels that lead in every different direction underneath the prison. >> 50 billboards in four states are up. the intense search growing, neighborhoods not far from the prison swept by s.w.a.t. teams. an hour south? willsboro, more tactical squads. >> the search is me thodthodicalmethodical.

president didn't have policy for iraq. this is like john kennedy saying i don't have a policy for soviet union. give me three years. the amtrak last month killed eight and injured 200. the engineer is cooperating with investigators although he suffered a concussion from the accident and doesn't recall events leading up to the crash. bostian immediately gave the pass code to his phone so investigators could search the records. there's no evidence of calls or texts. they're looking into apps that may have been active at the time of the crash. that a could take weeks or months to determine. the ntsb ruled out signal dysfunction, drug and alcohol intoxication and now calling and texting as potential causes for derailment. they're turning attention to

operator fatigue, vandalism and other sources of the crash. we're hearing an apology from the lawyer of eric casebolt the lawyer who has been criticized for actions breaking up a pool party. his attorney says when he arrived at party, he was under stress. he just responded to two suicide attempts. >> with all that happened that day, he allowed his emotions to get the better of him. eric regrets his conduct portrayed him in his department in a negative light. he never intended to mistreat anyone but was only reacting to a situation and the challenges it presented. he apologizes to all who were offended. >> the lawyer goes on to say that casebolt has been receiving death threats and now in an undisclosed location.

let's turn to business and the big rebound on wall street. wednesday, the dow made its way to positive territory adding 236 points. s&p 500 and nasdaq closed higher. for more on what's driving the markets up let's go to hadly live in london. what's behind this rebound? >> hey. good morning. what we saw was dow bumping back to black, up 1% at the close. that was off the back of idea we're finally going to see a deal between germany and greece. leaders of france germany and greece were talking late into the night trying to get a deal done. s&p 500 coming out yesterday saying they're downgrading greece and the country is going to default next 12 months. a lot working to get this deal done. we'll have to see what happens there. another major story we are following is what's happening with fashion brand j crew
