with counts of conspiracy to commit murder, for allegedly plotting to kill a victim and a witness, the friend who accompanied him the night of the alleged break in and rape. >> it was publicized this conspiracy charge and now all other inmates see it in the newspaper and see it on the news and he becomes more high profile inmate. >> prosecutors say the murder-for-hire plot was hatched behind bars at the suffolk county jail. patrick o'sullivan wanted to kill both alleged victim and witness and and the 21 year old sought the help of an unidentified inmate who was about to be released from jail. suffolk d.a. provided transcripts of the notes which quote the o'sullivan said "without a vic's statement, the da's case against me would lose the power, right? as long as you get that done. o'sullivan sent more traditional letters after the inmate left jail. in one o'sullivan instructed

the two years he has been in jail awaiting trial. when he got into trouble it was big trouble. will charged with first-degree rape, he received new charges of conspiracy to commit murder for trying to hire another inmate to kill his alleged victim and witness. >> the real worst part is the trees because they are like the same trees i have in my backyard at home so for the first couple of months it didn't bother me, the longer you're here, the more you see it the more you want to be home. it gives you something to fight for with your case. you can't give up ever. >> now with the stigma of being not only an accused sex offender but a high profile one, o'sullivan is under heavy security every time he moves between the yard and his cell. as protective custody inmate he spends most of the day confined to his cell where he has been teaching himself architectural drawing. >> laying out basic floor layout for master bedroom, bathroom, the guest rooms. 2,500 square foot house originally started off as like a ranch type design where one

floor, no, nothing like that but then i talked and he said he would like multiple floors so i added a basement and a second floor. >> alfons is a former inmate who met o'sullivan during a brief stay at riverhead. >> me and patrick hit it off from day one, talked about everything, got very emotional at times. i gave him back massages. it was a relationship that bonded very well very quickly. >> back when he was in jail for a misdemeanor his last name was marsialo. but five months after his release, it became o'sullivan when he and patrick got married in a jailhouse ceremony. >> he calls me wivy. wifey. i let him do that because i am the wifey in the situation. >> new york state law has allowed inmates the right to marry for decades. when the state adopted gay marriage that right applied to inmates, as well.

make sure you do the programs and what they have to offer you and be honest. all right. i love you. be good. >> i don't normally walk out of the jail i run. i do run as fast as possible off the grounds and into my neighborhood. first thing i plan to do is run straight to my house and take a shower and go get my nails done, get prettied up and get back to the streets and get back to my people. it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun this time. >> here you go. not going to walk out with a wife beater on. you can put that on. >> thank you. >> it's just a matter of respect and her walking through the building completely exposed. there are other inmates as she moves around the facility.
