never left the car. >> i had been drinking in my car while he was in the house. i got nervous and like i'll take a xanax and i'm feeling better. let me take another one and just one after another, i ended up blacking out and i woke up in my girlfriend's basement. >> authorities tell a different story. they say o'sullivan not only broke into the home but when he encountered a female house sitter, he raped her. >> you said you blacked out. how can you sure you didn't commit the crimes? >> i can't say i didn't go in the house but i don't remember anything in the house, but i don't ever remember. i mean, i can't say i did or i didn't. >> but it's possible you could have committed those crimes? >> yes, you know, i believe anything is technically possible. >> but as serious as the charges are that brought o'sullivan to jail, it's the new crimes he's been charged with in jail that have the potential to put him away forever.

long island suffolk county is known for among other things its beautiful beaches. inmates at the county jail can't hear the crash of the waves, but they can at least soak in the sun. >> life on long island. >> even though she is on lockdown status, or what inmates call the box, heather verdon will be permitted one hour per day out on the yard but most of the time, she'll be locked inside a single-person cell on a tier alongside other inmates with the same status. >> you get lonely sitting in

the ground and cuffed, verdon lunged at cararrary again. >> when you handcuff someone, they usually know it's done but this case, she still wanted to go. >> verdon come in and take a seat. >> the jail officers anger management programs, verdon has yet to sign up. >> how do you plead? >> guilty. >> now she's in a disciplinary hearing with the sergeant and officer will determine how much more time on lockdown status. >> the sergeant told you to stop and grabbed you and you pulled away and continued to go after this girl. why didn't you just listen to him at that point? >> i don't have an answer for that. i was just in rage and went back after the girl. >> okay. and this was catholic services?

verdon is in her cell. >> 5 five days in the box. better than i expected. it's going to be tough but gives me a little bit of time to myself. >> over in the men's section of the jail, patrick o'sullivan lives under similar restrictions but not for disciplinary reasons. it's because he's in protective custody or pc and confined to his cell 22.5 hours a day for his own safety. >> i mean, it's definitely not like being home, you know, i can cook food or go see my friends or go to the beach but, you know, you really start to appreciate all the small things in life now, you know. >> o'sullivan has been in jail for the past two years awaiting trial for several charges including first-degree rape. accused sex offenders are placed in pc because other inmates target them for violence and his alleged actions in jail have made his name well-known among may notes.

prosecutors charged him with conspiracy to commit murder for plotting to kill his victim and witness, the friend that accompanied him that night. >> it was publicized this conspiracy and charge and the other inmates in the jail see it in the newspaper and see it on the news and he become a more high-profile inmate. >> the murder for hire plot was hatched behind bars. accused rapist patrick o'sullivan wanted to kill both his alleged victim and a witness, and the 21-year-old sought the help of an unidentified inmate who was about to be released from jail. suffolk da provided transcripts of the notes who said without a vic's statement, the da's case would lose the power, right? as long as you get that done i should be gucci. he also sent more traditional letters. one prosecutor said the

curly's stay at suffolk county jail has been marked by violence. the disciplinary board recently gave tut 20 days on lockdown status for fighting which he said was retaliation for having his food stolen from him. >> he just can't keep his hands to himself or whatever. he just doesn't get along very well. >> officials say when tut initiated another fight, they decided to take more drastic steps. he was given 60 days on
