"first look" is up next. good morning everyone. i'm angie goff. a mass shooting in charleston south carolina. this happened at 9:00 p.m. last night. the shooter on the loose. nine are declared dead at the scene. now among the dead nbc news confirms long time state senator who was one of the people in attendance at the church in a bible study. this is one of the oldest and most prom nint black churches in the united states. the fbi and federal agencies are

on the scene. the shooter a 21-year-old white male slender build, clean shaven gray sweatshirt blue jeans and timber land boots. he is considered quote, extremely dangerous. this is investigated as a hate crime. the community needs to come together. >> this is a tragedy that no community should have to experience. it's un we're going to do everything in our power to find this individual, lock him up and make sure he does not hurt anyone else. >> just after the shooting there were reports of a bomb threat. police later called the area

clear. many in the community were passionate coming together. we also heard anger and pain. they aired out their feelings. >> it's evil. it's evil. it's evil. >> people are scared to talk about the real issue which is race. that's what we duck around from. these issues are here in our community. >> we a applaud the comradery of the police department. we don't hate the police department. we love it. we want peace. war is not the answer. war is not the answer. we want peace. one of the things that i've seen so far here tonight was everybody praying together. it didn't matter what color you are. everybody praying together joining hands. we are going to continue to do that.

the one thing we have is god on our side. >> a community prayer vigil will be held at noon at a nearby church. a media briefing is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. eastern. people sound fed up. >> reporter: mixture of feelings here, very intense. on one hand people are broken up over the tragedy. on the other hand people are familiar with this. some have lost family members themselves in the past to senseless murders. they just are asking when this will stop. they're asking if there's any kind of solution anything to be done to prevent these horrors from happening again. everyone is on the edge while the gunman is out.

police are asking for any help they can get. the only information they've given is it's a 21-year-old white male with sandy blond hair wearing a gray sweatshirt. they're offering a reward. the amount they'll announce later today for information to help capture that person. everyone is focused on safety and making sure they can catch the gunman before they move on to processing this tragedy. >> many difficult days ahead. bengie, thank you for the update. >> this morning, astonishing isis-inspired plots to attack the u.s. the latest in new york. here's pete williams. >> fbi agents say when they went to this house to conduct a search the 21-year-old man inside lunged at them with a

kitchen knife. body armor prevented serious injury. he was charged with trying to kill a federal officer. he admitted being a supporter of isis wanting to join fighters overseas. he said he would stop any police that tried to stop him. this has the fbi scurrying nationwide. >> there are more cases out there, more americans out there fbi is watching because they're concerned may be isis supporters willing to take action here in the united states. >> the fbi says this man was plotting with the college student over the weekend from queens to stage some kind of terror attack in new york. authorities began watching him after he was twice found wandering on the george washington bridge. he downloaded instructions on building pressure cooker bombs and opponents without actually acquiring explosives.

out west fbi charged a man who gave guns to the men that stormed the cartoon contest. there were plans to attack the super bowl, but that never got beyond the plotting stage. this morning, police have released new images of what richard matt and david sweat may look like now. the two have been on the loose two weeks. joyce mitchell admitted she talked to the men about killing her husband lyle. mitchell used her cell phone to call matt's daughter before backing out as the get away driver. there are 200 fewer officers on the ground no significant leads, not one confirmed sighting in this $1 million a

continued to drench the area. that will continue throughout the day today. concerns up to oklahoma where last night we had bad flooding in ardmore, oklahoma. now we have new thunderstorms that popped up in the last couple hours outside of houston. this area had three straight days of rain. now thunderstorms produce quick two inches on top of soil that's completely saturated. north of houston up interstate 45. further north, oklahoma we have the center of the storm. spinning here ardmore and mccalister. interstate 35 steady rains. as we go throughout the day we're going to take this and move the rain out of oklahoma and texas and areas of arkansas and missouri. should be lighter amounts. eventually through father's day weekend. this rain goes over the next two days in areas of the ohio valley following the ohio
