part of our past does not represent the future of our great state. >> what remains to be seen is whether the political will exists to bring that down. a head count suggests a majority of lawmakers in both chambers want it to come down. in the house and senate nearly half lawmakers decline to respond how they would vote on the issue. other observers noted it took the death of nine african-american citizens in a church to finally force action. >> i hate it happened on the eve of this tragedy and hate the tragedy is what actually made this happen. the governor we applaud her efforts. we know it wouldn't happen without her. we applaud conservatives and change in deciding something that has been hateful for years, now they see it as hateful and want to take it down. we'll take it however we can get it. this gives the indication maybe they were time of republican

evaluation of our country's manners. i would acknowledge the president's -- the way the president designed his argument in this scenario is more provocative provocative. i don't think anybody here is surprised this is getting more attention. turning to upstate new york and the break in the search for two escaped killers on the run. sources confirmed monday, dna from david sweat and richard matt has been found at a cabin near the maximum security prison where the two escaped. the man hunt has gone hundreds of miles in 17 days. it's heating up miles from where it all began. stephanie has the latest. >> police say they're onto something roughly 20 miles from the prison where the inmates escaped two weeks ago. >> law enforcement is maintaining a strong and visible presence in this region.

than 100 points. jeff joins us are from london. a they're not popping champagne bottles yet and celebrate, but what do you hear on the proposal? >> that would be too easy. this crisis dragged on too long. expecting a quick ending is way too optimistic. we have the basis for negotiation. greeks puts forward new propose ts which look as though they may have broken the deadlock here. what we've got is a range of proposals on new taxes and some pension reforms. as you say, right now nobody is popping open the champagne because they've had a relatively lukewarm response i would say. more work needs to be done. they'll try to nail this down over the next 48 hours. general markets in positive territory here. a people think a will get done.

revenue strings which con veals the pain passengers feel as they check in bags at 25 dollars a pop and if they want to make small changes to booking again. there are more charges for that. well the airlines are loving it to the tune of $1.7 billion in the first quarter of this year. that's how much all of those additional revenues added up to. that is quite some increase. about 7% rise on the year on year number. two things going on here. one is more of us flying paying those fees. the other one is the airlines may not put up the price of the first bag. they are easing the price of the third bag and also if your bags are overweight then you're paying additional charges year on year. the airlines are doing fine right now extracting more money out of your pocketbook. >> something tells me they're

let's turn now to sports inside news in the world of baseball. darrel hamilton who played 13 major league seasons and went to world series with the mets 2000 was discovered dead after a murder suicide in his home. he was shot several times. the woman later in the house identified as 444-year-old monica jordan died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. the couple's 14-month-old child was found unharmed. he later worked in the commissioner's office for analyst for the major league baseball network. hamilton was 50 years old. in 2004 pete rose came clean admitting he bet on baseball while a manager. for three decades, major league's baseball all time hit leader insisted he never bet as a player. there are documents that intend to show rose did bet as a player including games he played in.

transformers. again, no injuries and no deaths. hopefully we'll do that again today. this morning, everyone in cleveland got woke up by the nasty line of storms. round two over cleveland as we speak. heavy rain. as far as severe storms those will die off then a new round will come later this afternoon. areas of orange enhanced risk of storms. population centers up 95. we have 50 million at risk. when the storms go through, obviously travel problems. airports will have ground stops from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. as the line goes through. syracuse buffalo, cleveland, you're clear. along the front, storms pop up ask and get the strongest. timing for northeast cities looks like new york city around 4:00 to 5:00. same for hartford. providence and boston 5:00 to 6:00. philly and d.c. 4:00 to 6:00.
