predicting tornadoes and widespread severe weather. we want to begin with breaking news. greece has a deal. short time ago european leaders announce they had reached an agreement with greece to resolve its debt after 17 hours of all-night talks in brussels, a unanimous decision has been reached. german chancellor ainge la merkel is behind this deal and will recommend it to the european union. landon downey is joining me to talk more about this. >> we're reaching what some are calling an a-greek-ment. the agreement includes major reforms and financial support, allowing greece to remain a member of the euro currency. greece has asked for a nearly $60 billion bailout over three

years. alexis tsipras must now convince his parliament to sign off on the deal. he says greece fought a, quote, difficult battle to allow the country to stand on its own feet. investors are breathing a sigh of relief. european markets are spiking higher. u.s. markets point to a higher open on wall street. concerns that greece was heading for a messy exit from the eurozone. bet sni. >> we know the banks in greece were closed. will the banks reopen because of this deal? >> they are still close tadd today but eu leaders will discuss a bridge loan to meet their short-term needs. international manhunt is under way for the head of a powerful mexican drug cartel who escaped from his prison cell. braise sben brazen and

sophisticated escape by joaquin guzman, known as el chapo. >> reporter: when he was arrested in february last year after a 13-year manhunt, mexican authorities bragged they were cracking down hard on major drug traffickers and promised he would never escape from their maximum security prison. but he did escape in a daring highly sophisticated scheme involving a mile-long tunnel beneath the prison wall. a major embarrassment for the mexican government. >> they have no control over the powerful drug cartels that operate in their country and they have no control over the system of justice and incarceration in their country. >> authorityies say guzman was last seen on a security camera around 9:00 pm, entering a shower area in his cell at the high-security el altiplano prison.

he climbed about ten yards down a ladder, entered an elaborate tunnel that stretched about a mile and went under the prison support bid wood and pvc pipe had a ventilation system and small motor car attached to a rail track. it surfaced in a half-built house in a farm field. former drug agents say for a team to dig from the house to a very specific spot in the prison took lots of coordination and expertise. mexican officials are questioning dozens of prison workers. authorities are on a manhunt throughout the country and also have issued an international warrant. >> that was nbc's mark potter reporting. guzman is wanted on trafficking and international crimes in several cities. the attorney general says the u.s. will do anything it can to help mexico recapture him. gop presidential candidate donald trump tweeted "unbelievable corruption and u.s.a. is paying the price."

escaped from prison. trump says the u.s. will invite him to become a citizen. >> i think he has hijacked the debate. i think he's a wrecking ball. >> i don't know if he's helping or hurting but he's a candidate. >> reporter: wanting to build a wall between the u.s. and mexico. >> it's common sense. we need to secure the border. >> reporter: tied with jeb bush for first place among republicans with almost 16% support. but 40% of republicans say they would never vote for him. >> that's tracy pots reporting. to vienna secretary of state john kerry and other foreign leaders are still trying to hammer out a deal with iran. it remains to be seen if a deal can be struck by today's deadline or if there will be a fifth extension. chief foreign affairs correspondent andrea mitchell has the latest. >> reporter: after three missed deadlines and 16 days of

negotiations, it looks as though it's finally coming together. secretary kerry and others negotiating with iran met amongst themselves to iron out what diplomats said were last-minute glitches. if it all comes together iran would get hundreds of billions of dollars in sanctions relief in exchange for restraining its nuclear program. last-minute problems mainly involve lifting an arms embargo and what kind of nuclear research iran could resume at the end of this program 10 11 or 15 years from now. zarif, foreign minister of iran was upbeat as was john kerry. he said no deal. we still have work to do shouting down from his balcony. kerry, on his way to church sunday morning, said it's hopeful and it's positive. >> i think we're getting to some real decisions. i will say because we have a few

tough things to do i remain hopeful. >> reporter: we'll see if it all comes together, if president obama and the iranian leaders agree overnight, there could be a nuclear deal with iran on monday. andrea mitchell nbc news vienna. now something a little different on the jersey shore. small plane from a skydiving school landed on a main road leading to long beach island. that plane lost power and had to make an emergency landing. >> hit the median in the grass. we went back and forth a little bit and missed cars by a few feet maybe, and power lines, too. >> despite damage to the wings during that landing, all five passengers are fine. although the diving instructor did get a minor cut on his arm. authorities are investigating. this is not a movie stunt. police are searching for a driver caught on camera look at this driving in reverse for several miles on a busy street in los angeles. the driver, a male with a female

passenger, swerved several times over the double yellow lines and nearly clipped a pedestrian before deciding to turn around and drive the right way. to best tennis players in the world battling out at wimbledon. novak djokovic has now won five of the last seven meetings against federer. all-time head-to-head record is now tied at 20 a piece. after this win, djokovic said he wanted to follow and repeat everything serena williams does. he has good reason for that. serena williams won her sixth wimbledon saturday making it four straight grand slams. she is now just one grand slam away from repeating the first calendar slam since 1988. jordan spieth what can we say about him? he won his fourth title of the year yesterday, that's one thing, at the john deere classic, four times before the british open since tiger woods did in 2000. spieth is also just one victory

become the wrecking ball of the gop. truly, is trump helping or hurting the party? >> i would say he's hurting the party, distract frth more viable candidates, but he's making it hard for those candidates to appeal to minority voters they have said desperately they really want to be a more opening, more welcoming party but trump is bringing out the farthest of the right based voters who think that all mexican immigrants are criminals and rapists, the same way he does. >> when it comes to the base you discuss, the people who support the gop, is he resonating with them? >> definitely resonating with them. this is the fine line that the gop wants to walk. they want to sort of pay justice to the concerns that conservative base voters have but not rile them up. they want to address the concerns of border security but don't want to call anyone a rapist or criminal to do it. >> that's quite a statement.

governor scout walker jumping into the race today. >> i think this makes it 15 but we're going to get to 17. >> what does he bring to the table? as they continue to jump in we're getting closer and closer to the debates. unless you can really make numbers out on the polls, you're not going to get in that stage. >> it's a tight battle. that's why you see people like lindsey graham going directly after donald trump. despite the fact that lindsey graham is a veteran senator, he is at the bottom of the game. they really want someone who has won, what is it three elections in four years. those are good number. >> how is he going to break through with all this rhetoric out there? >> scott walker is polling quite well. he does well with early voters in states like iowa and new hampshire and has a strong national name because of his recall election several years ago, and he has a donor base to match that as well name
