"first look" starts now. good morning on this friday. thanks for waking up with with us. we want to begin with breaking news. three dead nine injured following a shooting at a movie theater in lafayette. among the dead is the shooter who turned the gun on himself. we're waiting to learn his a identity identity. he's so far identified as a 58-year-old white male. he entered the theater area loan and fired randomly during a screening of "train wreck." the motive is still unclear. >> this is going to be a long investigation. it may be several hours once the crime scene is cleared. we begin to get beginnings of clues of what happened and why

this may have happened. >> the gunman had a criminal history. witnesses describe hearing six shots during the screening. an eyewitness in the building at the time spoke to us a short time ago. >> had we come out the back we're not sure what the evacuation was for. once we got to the front, police had the building surrounded. they went back to get the shooter and found out he committed suicide. >> actress amy schumer who wrote the film tweeted saying my heart is broken and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in louisiana. victims take ton area hospitals, their conditions range from life threatening to critical. bobby jindal talked act two teachers. >> both ended upshot.

interview later in "the today show." an autopsy report is released about sandra bland. she died in jail after being arrested in a traffic stop. authorities said that sandra bland killed herself. >> the cause of death is hanging. the manner of death is suicide. >> the report includes a discovery, she smoked or swallowed marijuana in custody. >> there's been instances or claims about substantial amount of marijuana found in her system. i can tell you there has been confirmation of those results. >> there's evidence she had recently cut herself. >> there were approximately 30 cut marks on her left wrist also in a state of healing. >> authorities released documents including bland's admission she tried to kill herself in 2014 after she lost a baby. but she said she was not

suicidal the day of the arrest. the toxicology report and booking documents are the latest twist in the story that began when bland was pulling over for failing to signal a lane change. this is an excerpt of dash cam video edited by nbc news. bland was arrested for assaulting the officer. after take ton jail she left a voice mail for a friend. >> i'm at a loss for words honestly about this whole process. >> the voice mail was obtained by ktrk in houston. three days after the arrest bland apparently hanged herself in her jail cell. her family says this doesn't make sense. >> she had gotten texas the day before and was about to start a job. >> bland's body is in chicago area for burial. nbc news. a day after his trip to u.s. mexico border donald trump is giving rivals one more thing to think about.

water. the justice department is considering a criminal investigation over those e-mails as secretary of state. this could get dicey for her. >> betty, we've talked about this for weeks. there's unanswered questions regarding the use of her e-mail account. you're right there's reports the justice department may look into possibly having a criminal investigation into her use of it. she of course has maintained she broke no laws. you know there's a ton of unanswered questions. this is only going to continue and have effect on her campaign. she's going to have to talk about it. >> we'll get to the campaign in a minute another. secretary of states had private e-mail accounts and used them. how is clinton's did different? remind us as we go to this possible criminal investigation. >> there's a policy change during the obama administration. you're right, the clinton camp has always maintained she broke no laws.

her critics argue how exactly she interpreted this policy is up for debate. she hasn't answered these questions. whether or not the justice department does come through with a criminal investigation remains to be seen. it's too early to know that this morning. the fact they're look into it is further indication people have a lot of questions she hasn't answered sufficiently. people want to know is it an important question to ask. do you think we'll hear more about this as she's on the campaign trail? is she going to have to address this? >> she is going to have to address it. that being said is, if she's clear had the could be case over in terms of this issue, and she hay may be able to move forward. until that happens, a ton of unanswered questions. >> and now about donald trump. >> i interviewed him wednesday.
