three-way tie for ninth place between new jersey governor chris christie former texas governor rick perry and ohio governor john kasich. one of those three will not be on that main debate stage come thursday. average of the latest polling has christie and kasich making the debate and perry in the bottom card with the other senator candidate s candidates, including lindsey graham. >> the donald trump debate. how will he perform? what will he say? when i'm in the first debate, which is the happy hour debate at 5:00 start drinking. by 9:00 donald may make sense to you if you drink enough. >> like graham said candidates are strategizing about how to deal with donald trump on the main debate stage. trump himself says he will not be on the attack. >> i think that frankly, i would like to discuss the issues. i'm not looking to take anybody out or be nasty to anybody. as you know chuck, when i made harsh statements about various people, that was always in

ann marie dowd sparked speculation over the weekend, writing about beau biden's message to his father while dying of cancer. quote, he tried to make his father promise to run. the white house should not revert to the clintons and the country would be better off with biden values. joe biden knows what beau wants. now he has to decide if it's who he is. a decision could come this september from the vice president. hillary clinton is going up against her first ad buys $2 million to be exact. here is one of those ads reintroducing himself to voters. >> after law school she went to work for the children's defense fund. in arkansas she fought for school reform to change lives forever. then as first lady she helped to get health care for 8 million kids. you probably know the rest. the senator who made sure that heroes and families of 9/11 got the care they needed. the secretary of state who joined the cabinet of the man who defeated her because when

your president calls, you serve. and now a new title. grandma. >> i believe that when families are strong america is strong. it's your time. tragic news over the "weekend now." a manhunt is under way in tennessee this morning for tremaine wilburn, suspected of fatally shooting a memphis police officer, sean bolton during a traffic stop wednesday night. >> reporter: in but an instant saturday night, routine traffic stop turned deadly for memphis police officer sean bolton. >> heard bang bang bang. bang bang bang. >> reporter: the 33-year-old officer was shot repeatedly. despite a bulletproof vest later pronounced dead at the hospital. the first call for help came on patrolman bolton's own police radio from a bystander. >> please, please hurry up. >> they actually picked up the

police radio and spoke into it and got the police to come out because all the neighbors on that side were trying to call 911, but they couldn't get through. >> reporter: the first cop on the scene frantically called for help. >> there was a traffic stop and he was armed. the subject bailed out. it was a traffic stop. >> and you are advising that the officer is down or the suspect? ambulance is already en route. >> reporter: sketchy reports indicate there may have been more than one person in the car that the gunman may have been in the front passenger seat. >> any description we have on suspect will be two male blacks last seen running westbound on summer view. >> reporter: memphis police broke down the door to an apartment complex and took one man into custody. detectives say the trigger man remains at large. this is the second police officer in tennessee killed in the line of duty just this year. nationwide, 70 officers have

been kill this had year doing their jobs. >> there's a theme that -- do black lives matter. and at the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves, do all lives matter. >> this again, evidences the fact that there are so many guns on our streets in the wrong hands. >> reporter: officer bolton had no dash camera or body camera when he was shot. that equipment is budgeted for next year. an iraq war vet, police officer in memphis for almost five years gunned down in the very city where he grew up. >> heartbreaking story there. overseas now malaysia is asking for help in what could be the biggest break in months for the search for flight 370. asking territories near reunion island to inform them if any possible debris turns up that could be from the plane. mean meanwhile aviation experts in france are studying a piece of plane wing that was found on the island last week. the six-foot long part is from a

boeing 777, same type of plane as flight 370. a brown suitcase found near the debris is also now being tested for dna. it comes as officials say that additional debris believed to be possibly a plane door is actually a ladder and not part of the jet. meanwhile in syria, the u.s. is going further than its engagement in that country's civil war. the obama administration after much debate has decided to provide air cover to u.s. trained rebel forces. the first u.s. air strikes came friday when the free syrian army came under attack by another rebel group. the pentagon will defend syrian rebels against the assad regime if needed following a stunning report from last month that the u.s. has only trained about 54 moderate rebel fighters so far, far fewer than the 5,400 they hoped to have train bid the end of this year. this is a tricky situation for the u.s. since it opposes the assad regime but finds a common

enemy with the assad regime in isis. to athens for the first time in five weeks, some action on the greek stock market t will actually be open for business. the move comes as greek officials entered a second week of negotiation ss with the country's international creditors over a multibillion dollar euro bailout. greece's third in five years. is greece back on track? here to break it down for us is julia chatterley from london. how is the athens index doing this morning? >> good morning, ayman. it's down 21% after a couple of hours of trading. while it's symbolic we're also seeing a lot of selling pressure. the banks, around a fifth of the value of this index, all sorts of concerns about the impact of ongoing capital controls. they're the ones to watch. greece isn't the only index under a bit of pressure today. china also up around 2% after seeing incredible volatility, of

course, over the last month. that didn't stop china's answer to air b & b raising $300 million in its latest funding round. for all the vulnerability, they still like the startup space in china, particularly in the tech sector, it seems. >> this acquisition of directv by at&t. what is the telecom giant introducing now? >> as you quite rightly say hot on the heels of that $48 billion acquisition of directv, we're seeing at&t saying look you can get tv on demand anywhere any place, tv and wireless package for $200 a month for the first 12 months effectively saying come get tv at any point. the key question for this country country, can they lure consumer as way from their competitors at

today, president obama will unveil what he called the biggest and most important step we've ever taken to tackle climate change. the initiative known as the clean power plant aims to cut carbon emissions from 32% from 2005 levels by 2030. each state would have to submit a proposal to the epa outlining exactly how they'll meet those targets. it's facing enormous pushback from opponents in congress and fossil fuel industry alike. on the campaign trail, jeb bush echoed that criticism calling the president's plan irresponsible and over achieving. front-runner hillary clinton said she would defend the plan if elected president. >> mets, mets mets. >> huge fourth inning clocking in three home runs curtis

little help from mother nature out west. are they going to get it? bill, how is it looking out there? >> today's not good. then it cools off a little bit toward the middle of this week. it's a matter of time. we were in this historically horrible drought in the west. this weekend just exploded. a lot of lightning strikes out there sparked numerous fires and firefighters can't catch up. these fires -- the fire behavior, they call it because of the weather and dry conditions. and some are saying it's more erratic than they've ever seen. this is what they're dealing with and will be dealing with it probably the rest of the summer. bring it back east and show you what happened in iowa yesterday also. they had a tornado that was one of the most picturesque tornadoes they've ever seen. look at the view of this one right there. condensation from the cloud and the white. thankfully it was out over the open fields. in the east today a cold

front will bring severe weather. area of low pressure near florida bringing rain near the tampa area this morning and heavy rain now beginning to drift across i-4. orlando to tampa, probably not a fun drive. cincinnati, you're waking up this morning to lightning strikes and loud thunder as we speak. probably the worst weather in the country. later this afternoon, we've got about 24 million people in this slight risk. that cold front is going to produce maybe an isolated tornado. wind damage is the greatest threat. all of ohio most of pennsylvania. not including the i-95 corridor thankfully. buffalo, albany syracuse burlington back up to careboua at risk of severe storms today. it wasn't that muggy in the carolinas up to d.c. 94 in d.c. 91 in central park. tuesday, another hot day is in store. what's interesting about this week, we get a big cooldown. for areas in the east especially. by the end of this week completely different picture. we go from a hot, steamy

it had actually been a while since we had seen. we found out earlier this week there was a pretty good explanation for that. >> they say he died of hepatitis in 2013 but his death was kept secret by the taliban for more than two years. >> yeah. it turns out he has been dead for two years and the taliban simply hadn't mentioned it. i don't know why. maybe they were just trying to break it to their members gently. oh, omar he's fine living on a farm upstate where he can run and play with all the other taliban leaders that you haven't seen for a while. he's so happy. you'll see him soon. this actually put the taliban, though, in something of an awkward position.
