good morning, everybody. it's monday, august 31st. i'm amy holmes. we begin with presidential politics. a new poll from iowa shows trump has completely transformed his perception among the early nominating states likely republican caucusgoers. bloomberg politics des moines register poll finds trump leading the field with 23%. ben carson is just 5 points behind, nearly within the poll's margin of error at 18%. far behind both of them are senator ted cruz and governor scott walker. carson tops iowa republicans second choice and when they're first and second choices are combined carson and trump tie at 32%. outsider rise is best explained by congress. as for trump 61% of iowa republicans hold a favorable

opinion of him now, more than doubling his standing in may and over the weekend donald trump gave a preview of what the general election might look like with a scathing attack on trusted aide to hillary clinton. it happened at a donor gathering outside boston which, despite signs saying to make checks payable to his campaign, the front-runner insisted it was not a fund-raiser. >> we are -- i guess they're paying for some of the basics in terms here. we have food. i guess 1,500 or 2,000 people. this is not a fund-raiser. we're not doing anything in terms of fund-raising. >> what about the checks payable to you? >> many people are coming in. they can pay whatever they want but i think they're doing something to offset the food. but this is not a fund-raiser. >> taking aim at huma abedeen saying she's at the center of the e-mail scandal and had

ride on wall street and across the globe. u.s. futures aren't looking so good either. steve cedric joins us live from london. steve, what are investors watching this morning? >> well, they're watching china, of course. china was down again in session, neared flatline by the close of trading. they'll crack down on those they believe are destabilizing the market. it noelt it they fell 7.9% last week. but the dow is on course of having its worst month in three years. now the futures are pulling us down on the s&p, .8% on the nasdaq. lots to account for in the states, big numbers on factory output, trade and key payroll figures at the end of the week. people have been worried very
