good morning. it's wednesday, september 2. we begin in fox lake illinois, north of chicago where a massive man hunt is underway for three men suspected of killing a police officer in that town. lieutenant gliniewicz sent word out on radio he was pursuing three men on foot, two white men and one black men before he was shot and stripped of his gun and pepper spray. our correspondent has the latest from illinois. >> reporter: good morning to you. coming up on 24 hours, three fugitive ts on the run. two white men, one black man.

multiple agencies working on this. swat teams, canine teams, state, federal, local sheriff officials using multiple resources. they have boats in the area. there's a chain of nine lakes as well as the area behind me focussing. this is an area of swampland they're focussing canine dogs and infrared units. the 30 year veteran of the force, someone who had four boys, not only someone that taught local officials how to work with intruders in homes, but he also worked with local explorer's club, young men and cadets looking to be police officers. >> not only did fox lake lose a family member, i lost a dear friend. he was father of four boys.

many residents knew him as gi joe, knew him deeply committed to fox lake. we continue to support the hardworking men and women in the heat to find individuals responsible for this tragic incident. thank you. >> reporter: officials tell people to stay indoors until the men are caught. schools are closed today in the fox lake region. 84 officers are killed so far this year in the line of duty. four officers in the last nine days. >> adam reese, thank you for your reporting. flags outside the police department were lowered to half staff last night. a makeshift memorial was also set up. fbi is opening civil rights investigation into the shooting death of a man by sheriff deputies in san antonio. it comes after cell phone video of the deadly confrontation last week. the video shows flores raising one of his hands before he is

police-involved shooting in the atlanta area we told you about responding to reports of possible burglary. three officers went to the wrong house. we're told a couple was inside with their 1-year-old child watching a movie when police came through the back door and opened fire. they shot the man that lives here and shot and killed his pet dog. even shot one of their own in a case of friendly fire. the georgia bureau of investigation is handling the case. president obama is on the brink of securing enough votes to uphold the controversial deal with iran. casey and coons say they will support the agreement. president obama has the support of 33 senators, one shy of number to uphold the veto if lawmakers pass resolution to kill the deal. in the 17 page statement, casey called it the best option at this time. he said it was one of the most

difficult decisions he's made. senator coons admitted he has deep reservations. >> frankly this is not the deal i hoped for. parties have is differing interpretations of key terms. i remain deeply concerned to hold iran to terms of the deal as we understand it. we cannot trust iran, but this deal based on mistrust, verification, deterrence and strong multilateral diplomacy offers us today our best remaining opportunity to prevent iran from a nuclear weapon. i support this deal with my eyes wide open aware of flaws and potential. >> now pressure is on another democrat pick lawmakers. carden, the ranking member of the foreign relations committee, still undecided. yesterday he predicted the white house will have enough support
