east. the obama administration is willing to take in at least 10,000 refugees in the year. 1500 have been let in since the war began four years ago. some are pushing for more. the white house says most effective way to help is $4 billion provided to relief agencies in the region. u.n. says 1 in 122 million on the planet are refugee, internally displaced or seeking asylum. putting them together, they would be the 24th largest country in the world. syria alone has produced 4 million refugees since the war began there. to devastating flooding in japan. massive floods from a tropical storm have rescue crews searching for 22 missing people. helicopters spent hours plucking the strand add from rooftops. one woman was killed when a landslide hit her house. in the u.s., this is what you get with a lot of rain in a short amount of time.

former tennis pro james blake was misidentified as a credit card fraud suspect and slammed to the ground by police. >> james blake says he's shaken and bruised but mostly shocked by his encounter with police. >> picked me up and body slammed me, put me on the ground, told me to turn over, shut my mouth. put cuffs on me. i said officer, i'm scared. i want to know what's going on. i think you have the wrong person. >> in an interview, blake says he was arrested and pinned down 15 minutes by plain clothes officers. blake says he was waiting for ride to u.s. hope when he was slammed to the ground. a hotel surveillance camera captured it on tape. >> police say officers were trying to bust a credit card slam. the witness mistakenly identified blake as a suspect. blake says the force used by

police was excessive. >> mr. blake had no role of involvement in the criminal investigation that we were conducting and was totally innocent of any involvement. >> commissioner bratton says race was not a factor. >> that's not involved in this incident at all. >> the officer is on modified duty, his gun and badge taken away. nbc news, new york. a vote for peace, presidential honor, and can a politician earn an honest buck?
