♪ now it's my line, good morning, it's monday, september the 14th. i'm louis burgdorf. donald trump is gaining on hillary clinton according to the latest polling out this morning. "the washington post"/abc news poll found trump to be the favorite of 33% of republican voters, up nine points since mid-july and 9 point increase since late may shortly before he announced his candidacy. dr. ben carson in second with 20%, a combined 53% for the top two outsiders running. everyone else is in single digits. looking further down the field to tenth place is wisconsin governor scott walker. now polling at 2% nationally, in mid-july he was in third place with 11%. there are also polls in the

pivotal early contest states on the republican side, the cbs news poll of likely iowa caucus goers finds donald trump in the lead but ben carson is coming closer and closer, just four points behind the front-runner. now in new hampshire where trump holds a huge lead reaching 40% leading carson by 28 points, trump's lead is just about equal to the next five candidates combined. and in south carolina, trump is at 36%, ben carson in a distant second at 21 points. everyone else is again in single digits. meantime donald trump dove into the world of college football this weekend. he returned to iowa, wearing an orange and orange camouflage "make america great again" hat. he mingled with fans before the big iowa versus iowa state game. trump also attended a campaign rally in boone, iowa, where he tossed out hats to the crowd and also talked about his nearest opponent, better than carson. >> people don't have energy. i don't think ben has the energy. ben is a nice man, but when you

days after launching his second bid for the white house. perry struggled to pay his own staff. one group that was surprised by his early departure was his opportunity and freedom superpack, which must now decide what to do with the more than $12 million left in the bank. the group says it was blind-sided by his exit, having just purchased more than 3,000 spots in iowa on his behalf. now to new polling on the democratic side and more bad news for hillary clinton out of iowa, new hampshire. ugov/cbs news poll of likely new hampshire primary voters shows bernie sanders widening his lead ahead of clinton by a whopping 22 points and sanders a double-digit advantage in iowa as well leading clinton 43% to 33%. clinton has a strong standing in south carolina where she's still ahead of sanders by more than 20 points. the enthusiasm for the democratic challenger was on display at his rallies over the

weekend. sanders kicked off a four-day southern swing in atlanta on friday, speaking for over an hour to a crowd of more than 1,300 people. on saturday, he traveled to south carolina, where he's introduced at an event by activists and academic cornell west at an historically black benedict college. almost 1,000 people turned out there to watch the vermont senator speak. then in north carolina yesterday, sanders wrapped up the weekend with a speech in front of an overflow crowd that the associated press reports totaled more than 9,000 people. >> if we stand together and we do not allow them to divide us up by race, by whether we're gay or straight, whether we're man or woman, whether we were born in america or born somewhere else, when we stand together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. "the post" cites the company that maintained the server fleet river networks in denver, experts told "the washington post" there's a difference between deleting e-mails and wiping it clean. it may be possible to restore some of clinton's deleted e-mails this as the justice department says in a court filing there's no question clinton had the authority to delete e-mails that were personal in nature. he added "she appropriately

week one of the nfl we start with the cowboys hosting the giants on sunday night football. jump to the beginning of the fourth quarter, the cowboys dez bryant gets up with a limp after a reception on third down. tough luck forlass, it turns out the all pro receiver broke his foot on the play and will need surgery. he'll miss the next four to six weeks. end of the quarter, giants with a three-point lead, decide to pass the ball on third and goal inside the 2 yard line, the pass is incomplete and new york has to settle for a field goal, with about is 1:30 left in the game. six plays later, tony romo completes a game winning drive that ends an 11-yard touchdown pass to jason witten. it gives the cowboys a 27-26 victory, that one is tough. let's go to tampa and the battle between rookie quarterbacks winston and marcus mariota. mariota outshinds the number one overall draft pick tossing four touchdowns to lead tennessee to a 42-14 blowout victory.
